Kaliakmanis showed confidence and aggression in relief role; could start vs. Giants.

Athan Kaliakmanis completed 15 of 33 pass attempts for 186 yards and his first career touchdown pass while being sacked once and throwing his first career interception. Given Mariota is likely to miss time and Jayden Daniels isn't guaranteed to be back this week, Kaliakmanis could be in line to start his first career game on Sunday against the Giants. The source highlighted his confidence as the biggest positive takeaway; most young quarterbacks in that situation come in timid and check the ball down, but Kaliakmanis was aggressive and happy to take shots down the field, which gave the Commanders life and a chance at staying in the game.
