Herbert pummeled by poor pass protection; offensive line failing its core mandate.

Herbert is being consistently pummeled due to a lack of pass protection; the source notes he was 'smacked around' in the latest loss to the Seahawks and is 'being pummeled at an alarming rate' in the team's 0-4 start to the season. His 'warrior play' only emerges when he has to overcome incredibly tough circumstances and an offense that lets him down more often than not. The offensive line, which was Harbaugh's stated charge to protect Herbert with (the 'tip of the spear' monologue), has been 'shattered multiple times in two-plus years' and is not functioning to protect the quarterback.
