Woerner faces pressure from Austin Hooper's return in the competition for the second tight end role opposite Kyle Pitts. While Woerner is the superior blocker and has a cap hit nearly three times Hooper's, his traditional role as a 6th lineman may not fit the Falcons' anticipated 12-personnel versatility approach under Keven Stefanski, putting his role at risk.NegativeRoleJul 27, 2026
Competing with Austin Hooper for the TE2 role alongside Kyle Pitts. Woerner is the superior blocker, while Hooper is more well-rounded; the source notes it may change week-to-week based on matchup, and unlike the previous offensive coordinator's scheme, the TE2 will be expected to catch the ball sometimes.
