All Hogs Haven insights about Ja'Corey Brooks

NegativeRoleOct 28, 2026
24-year-old undrafted free agent receiver (6'3", 195 lbs) signed by the Commanders in 2025; had a strong preseason, led the team in receptions through three games, and earned a practice squad spot. Elevated for Week 6 against Chicago but received no targets on 6 snaps; suffered a season-ending injury in November but was reportedly healthy when signing his 2026 contract. Lacks elite speed and crisp route running to separate consistently, leading to high contested-target rates, but excels at contested-catch ability. On a team with four WR roster locks and a notable shortage of big receivers, Brooks has a chance to stick as the last depth-chart receiver if he shows preseason promise again; worst-case is another practice squad season or late-season injury replacement role. However, the source notes Brooks was cut before 2026 training camp began and was not signed by any other team, suggesting unknown concerns.
