0:45I'm Steve Weitz in our Los Angeles studios, and I'm joined by Judy Batista and Mike Garofalo.
0:50And like so many coaches and players, they're gearing up for training camp.
0:54And new today, the Panthers who are coming off an NFC South title in a playoff berth.
0:59They're full squads in training camp. And there you see him, quarterback Bryce Young.
1:03Peace out, Summer. We back. Offensive lineman Derek Brown tells us about Carolina's intentions in 2026.
1:08We all come in here with the same goal.
1:11Every, all 32 teams come in with the expectation to win a division and, you know, win your single division and then
1:17go to the, go to the Super Bowl, right?
1:20So, I mean, I think it's one of those things where, you know, you got to, what you do in camp is the separating factor, right?
1:28Like, if you're one of those guys where, you know, I feel like, for us, I think honestly, it's the consistent level, right?
1:35We need to be consistent in the things that we did well last year, but then also be able to improve on
1:41the things that we didn't do well last year.
1:44But, I mean, it's always like, it's a whitewash.
1:47It's like, we get ready to start all over again and get back to, get back to Super Bowl.
1:52All right, back with Judy and Mike. And Judy, it's year four for former number one overall pick, quarterback Bryce Young.
1:59He helped Carolina to the playoffs last season. So, what must he do to alleviate any questions that he's the Panthers' long-term QB?
2:05Well, you just heard Derek Brown talk about the word consistency.
2:09He's not just talking about the defense and he's not just talking about being consistent in practice.
2:14The team has to be more consistent. Bryce Young needs to be more consistent.
2:18He took a step forward. He took a big step forward, actually.
2:22Last season, he cut down on the turnovers. He performed better.
2:25But if you go back and look at last season, it was good game, quiet game, good game, quiet game.
2:31Sometimes he would have an off game or he'd have two interceptions, but mostly it was good, bad, good, quiet.
2:37They need him to steady out. They need to be able to count on a level that he can get to.
2:43Now, Dan Morgan, the general manager, has said, you know, they believe that the arrow is pointing up with him.
2:49That very well may be the case, but they've got to see it week in and week out.
2:54That's when they will then get to, if that happens, they'll get to contract extension conversations and all those good things that come for franchise quarterbacks.
3:02But he's got to be a lot more steady to convince them once and for all that he is the franchise quarterback.
3:09Let's see if Brad Idzik can help that progress for Bryce Young this upcoming season.
3:13The new play caller for the Carolina Panthers, Dave Canales, turning it over to Idzik, who has been a part of what they've been doing there.
3:21Now Idzik getting a chance to be the one making those calls into that headset on Sunday.
3:26My understanding is from the minute that this decision was made, everybody in the building thought, OK, this is a bright guy
3:33who's got a lot of new ideas, fresh ideas that he could potentially have and bring as a part of this offense
3:39specifically as it's being called on game day. So they believe that that is going to help an offense that was 27th,
3:46I think, in both points and yards, if I'm recalling that correctly, when I saw that earlier today.
3:51Regardless of what the numbers exactly where they weren't good.
3:54And the hope is that Idzik will make them better with Young and this entire offense.
3:59Yeah, we'll see how much this offense it takes for them to get going as both of their offensive tackles are going
4:05through some medical issues and they're going to have to hit the depth chart right out of the gate.
4:11All right, Mike, you hit us with some news a little while ago about Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
4:17As you're tweeting here, he has reported to training camp along with the rest of his teammates.
4:22Tell you and our guy Ian Rappaport nothing new as of right now on the contract.
4:26But Jacoby Bursette is in the building. But he's not the only quarterback with some news as rookie quarterback Carson Beck signed his four year $7.4 million contract.
4:35That's also according to Ian Rappaport and the team.
4:37He's going to get plenty of work this offseason beginning August 6th in the Hall of Fame game against those Carolina Panthers.
4:44So, Mike, what is the latest on the Jacoby Bursette situation?
4:47That wire on the TV is driving me nuts.
4:50You've got to feed that through or have something that kind of blighted.
4:54It's just my little pet peeve when it comes to flat screen TVs on the wall.
4:59Jacoby Bursette, nothing new on that contract as I pointed out in that post on X there.
5:04Now, look, for all the guys that have contract issues, Devin Witherspoon, we talked about last night and some of the other
5:10guys that we're looking at for contract extensions, whether now or the start of the season, you go, oh, they're there.
5:17They reported to camp. All right. Now, what do they do now moving forward?
5:21We could have some potential hold ins. I don't know what the deal is going to be with Jacoby Bursette, but I know he's in the building.
5:29I know he's been saying hello to everybody. It sounds like, you know, he's there and wants to be a part of this team.
5:36Look, the team wants to give him a new contract.
5:39They've been open to negotiations and understanding that at $5 million, the man deserves a raise.
5:44The question is, though, how high on that quarterback scale do you go?
5:48Because once you get past $5 million and you look at some of the other guys making money that they're going to
5:54be starting quarterbacks, it's huge money, right? And Bursette is not as entrenched as a lot of those guys, obviously.
6:00So they've got to come to terms on the deal.
6:03I still feel like this is going to be done in the near future.
6:07Again, we have no indication that's the case right now, Judy, but at least Bursette is in the building.
6:13We've talked about this a few times in the offseason, the concept of quarterback hold ins, which is really weird.
6:19Like, how does that actually work? Quarterbacks need reps.
6:22Teams need to have their starting quarterbacks in there.
6:24We might see it there. We might see it in a few other places, too.
6:29If Jacoby Bursette is not practicing, whatever we're going to call it, that certainly gives many more reps to Gardner.
6:35Minshew is also there, but also to the rookie Carson Beck, who slipped in the draft, but now has an opportunity to
6:41maybe show some stuff if he's going to get a lot of reps in practice, if he gets a lot of work in the preseason game.
6:49Carson Beck, as strange as it might seem, might be in the best position of all the rookie quarterbacks to get on
6:55the field soonest, simply because of the quarterbacks who are in front of him.
7:00I mean, he is not battling a Kirk Cousins the way Fernando Mendoza is in Las Vegas.
7:05He's got two, you know, sort of journeyman quarterbacks ahead of him, one of whom we don't even know if he's going
7:11to practice right out of the gate. So this is a real opportunity for Carson Beck if he can impress.
7:17I don't know if there's any way he can be the starting quarterback on day one.
7:22They want Jacoby Bursette to be the starting quarterback.
7:25But he certainly could put himself in the conversation as we go further into the season with a solid showing here in training camp.
7:32And then that's going to be something interesting to watch, because as I mentioned, the Arizona Cardinals play the Panthers in the Pro Football Hall of Fame game.
7:40So they do get an extra preseason game for Carson Beck to show himself under game type of circumstances.
7:46Again, if Jacoby Bursette is not in the lineup, it's going to give those reps to other players.
7:51But we do know Bursette has been through this several times before in his well-established career.
7:56So he has seen all of the highs and the lows.
7:59And now to another team in that NFC West, the Seattle Seahawks.
8:03Their veterans reporting to camp soon. And running back Zach Charbonnet has been placed on the physically unable to perform list, which is no surprise.
8:10He's coming off an ACL injury that he suffered in January in a playoff win over the 49ers.
8:16And let's bring in running back. Let's go to tape of Jadarian Price, the rookie running back who could be starting ahead of Charbonnet to start the season.
8:24Yeah, I'm ready. This is everything I've been asking for since I started playing football.
8:28And now that I'm a part of a great team with a great offensive line, great offensive group led by, you know,
8:35the offense coordinator and then led by Sam. You know, it's a great situation to be in.
8:40And I'm just super blessed to be a part of it.
8:43But I'm ready for any challenge that comes at me.
8:46And, you know, whether it ends up being 30 carries a game or 15, I'm ready for it.
8:52All right, it's bringing longtime NFL exec Mark Ross to the party.
8:55Well, Mike, we're going to start with you. What is the timeline for Zach Charbonnet to get on the field?
9:01Yeah, everybody really reluctant to put a timeline on this specifically for him.
9:05But I will say that everybody that I've talked to says that this rehab is going extremely well.
9:10You look at the timeline, right? In January, you start to think a lot of times these tend to be close to a calendar year.
9:18Well, that's not going to work if he's going to play in the regular season.
9:22And they're not pushing him too hard. But being on the physically unable to perform list, which we did expect, potentially leaves
9:29him out through the first four weeks of the season.
9:32You stay on that, and then you come back any time after that.
9:36And I don't think it's going to be far beyond that if that winds up being the case for him.
9:42And plus, he can even start practicing before that four-week window is up as well.
9:46He is making good progress. He is attacking his rehab.
9:49All those things that I know a lot of times you come to these rehabs, you say, everybody's ahead of schedule.
9:55No, it sounds like he's doing about as well as you possibly could hope for in this situation.
10:01And I do believe that on the earlier part of the season, before the halfway part of the season, we're going to see Zach Charbonnet back in action.
10:09But yeah, Jadarian Price, you've been asking for your workload to increase.
10:13Didn't have it so much at Notre Dame. Welcome to the NFL.
10:16Going to be a big workload for the Seahawks early.
10:19Well, you remember last season, the Seahawks were really careful to split the reps between Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker, who was the
10:26eventual Super Bowl MVP, MVP, until Charbonnet got hurt and then Walker really came to the forefront.
10:31So it's hard to imagine that they're going to make a rookie the bell cow and give him all the reps.
10:37They are blessed with a very deep running back room.
10:40So they have lots of options. Certainly, that is going to be one of the storylines in training camp to see who
10:47asserts himself and who puts himself in there to divide the reps with Jadarian Price until Charbonnet comes back and they can work out the mix there.
10:55But that is going to be something to keep an eye on as the Seahawks start the season because they want to
11:01be able to run the ball just as they ran the ball last year.
11:06They want to take the pressure off quarterback Sam Darnold.
11:09He had a great season. Obviously, they hope that he can duplicate that kind of season and take them back to the Super Bowl.
11:16But they would like to take some of the onus off Sam Darnold to carry that offense by putting it on the running game.
11:23Yeah, for sure, Judy. And, you know, once that running game got going, it unlocked a whole different level for that Seattle offense.
11:30It was always a sleeping giant throughout the whole season.
11:33And then it unlocked a whole nother level behind Kenneth Walker.
11:36And I think with Seattle scouting, you know, scouting there, they saw with a regular version of we can have the same
11:42sort of replication or to Kenneth Walker with Jadarian Price.
11:45He doesn't need to have a ton of touches.
11:48It's the quality, not the quantity of the explosive plays.
11:51And you mentioned the mix there last year. It was 37 carry difference between what Kenneth Walker had and what Zach Charbonnet had.
11:58So ideally, for Seattle's offense, it's Emmanuel Wilson is there now.
12:01George Halumi was there last year as well. So who's really going to step in to be that number two option behind Jadarian Price?
12:08And as long as he can show in the offseason, as he showed already in many camps, training camp, in the games,
12:15the preseason games, that he can handle the pressure of being the number one guy, the protections, the pass catching ability there.
12:22Then he'll be the starter, I think. And then it's these other guys who will be the complimentary back behind Price.
12:28Yeah, Mark, you mentioned George Haloney and also Emmanuel Wilson coming over from the Green Bay Packers.
12:33He's been a very serviceable running back in the NFL.
12:36So that is a really deep room. I also like that film of Jadarian Price catching passes.
12:41He caught only 15 passes at Notre Dame this summer when they were talking about their offseason drills.
12:46His receiving skills are something that they talked about, something that we'll see.
12:50Mark Walsh will join us later with some more camp battles.
12:53And Judy and Mike, you'll be with us a little bit later on because there are still some established veterans that are available.

13:44rookies reporting on Saturday the 25th and the vets following in on the 28th.
13:48It's time to welcome in Sarah Walsh for more on these Jaguars.
13:51And Sarah, let's start on the offensive side of the ball.
13:55What changes do you expect to see from this group?
13:58Well, certainly, Steve, outside expectations have changed for a Jags team when you reel off eight straight wins to end the season.
14:04Over the span of that time when they were on that win streak, this was the number one scoring offense in the league.
14:11And it's not hard to understand why they clicked later on.
14:14That is because they were trying to get comfortable in Liam Cohn's system, in a first-year system that is not easy to learn.
14:21I spoke with their top tight end, Brenton Strange, this week.
14:24He just got a new deal less than a month ago, three years, $48 million.
14:29And he told me, to be honest, a year ago at this time under Liam, his head was absolutely spinning.
14:35He said he sees Trevor Lawrence each and every year that he has been on this Jags team come in with more
14:41maturity, but certainly more confidence as they have begun to understand that scheme.
14:45He said that Liam has impressed upon them this offseason the importance of sustained success.
14:50And Strange told me, I'm going to call it like it is, he said we haven't had that in Jacksonville in recent years.
14:57But how exciting, he said, to have the opportunity to build upon that.
15:00The only major change to this offense, Steve, would be the departure of Travis Etienne over to the Saints, which means it's
15:07going to be a running back by committee for this Jacksonville team with Basial Tootin and Chris Rodriguez.
15:12Steve? Running back by committee, Sarah, I want to reset you, though.
15:16Now, this receiving core, too, when they made the move for Jacoby Myers last year, that really seemed like it ignited things on the wide receiver.
15:24What are they talking about, or what are some things that maybe they need to improve with that group as well?
15:30Well, from what I hear, he was such a welcome addition to that receiver room, and not just the stuff that you
15:36saw him do out on the field, but he was beloved in that room.
15:41He brought a veteran presence, a maturity. They really like him.
15:44I know Liam Cohn is incredibly high on him.
15:47They feel like they have a really good receiving core there.
15:50If anything, when I was talking to Strange about, pick me out something.
15:54You guys ended the season on a roll. What needs to be better?
15:58He said, you know, we could set ourselves up better on first and second down.
16:02He's like, there were times where this run game didn't click, and then we put ourselves in a deficit, and we're having to play catch-up.
16:10They feel really good about the receivers they have.
16:12So much so, Steve, and I know this has obviously been a big focal point when people talk about the Jags and
16:19Travis Hunter, and is he playing both of them?
16:21You're going to see Travis Hunter on both sides of the ball, certainly.
16:25You will probably see him more on defense, and the reason that is is because of the receivers that they have on
16:32that roster that they feel really good about. Yeah, really good stuff.
16:35And now, speaking of that defense, one of the best defenses in the NFL last year.
16:40I mean, what, they allowed about 86 yards per game rushing.
16:44No running back. Went for more than 75 yards on them.
16:47Second best in takeaways. How do they build on that success?
16:50Yeah, they will shut you down. You know what's crazy is you brought up the takeaways.
16:55They had 31 takeaways last year. You mentioned it.
16:58Second best in the league. That's a great number, right?
17:01But here's why that number is wild. The season before, they had all of nine takeaways, Steve.
17:06I talked to Foye Aluokon, the leader of that defense.
17:09I said, what changed? He said, look, we went into last year feeling like we need to right our wrongs.
17:15And Anthony Campanelli, their defensive coordinator, really impressed upon them.
17:18We are going to be a team that takes the ball away from you.
17:22Foye told me one of the biggest blessings, one of the biggest wins of this offseason for them was getting camp back
17:28because there was a time where he was interviewing for head coaching jobs.
17:32So just that consistency is massive to them. Foye said, we understand the scheme, where we need to be.
17:38We understand how to bring camps calls to life.
17:40He also told me, you can have all the expectations in the world.
17:44You can be a good team, which the Jaguars are.
17:47And he said, you can still have an awful season.
17:50He said, that is not lost on this Jags team with where these expectations are at.
17:55And Foye told me he is not going to let that happen, not with his willpower.
18:00I also brought up Travis Hunter. By the way, today, the Jags on their website posted a video of Hunter going through his rehab.
18:07He said, the one thing he learned is how confident he can be when he sets a goal, when he attacks it.
18:14It's the one thing about him. He is going to be ready, Steve.
18:17Now that's good news, right? Travis Hunter, we want to see how healthy he is coming off of that knee.
18:23And we're going to see him on both sides of the ball.
18:27Also, Sarah, for that defense, if they can improve their pass rush, that actually took a step back last year.
18:33One of the few weak spots on that defense, man, they could be really good.
18:37All right, Sarah, well, I'll take you. Jags. Yeah, that's right.

18:45Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, teams that reported the training camp today with a little fine print down the bottom.
18:52Just the rookies for the Broncos as the veterans are coming in next week.
18:56Mark Ross here with me, Mike Garofalo, Judy Batista.
18:59We are talking now about players who have to prove it starting in training camp.
19:03Mark, you have a quarterback that needs to prove it this year.
19:07Yeah, it's CJ Stroud of the Texans. And we'll be talking about him a lot.
19:11And it's twofold. Prove it that he's worthy of a new contract, a long-term contract extension.
19:16And prove it that he can take them to the Super Bowl.
19:19And of course, the Texans organization hasn't even been to an AFC championship game.
19:24But with that defense had Super Bowl hopes even last year.
19:27But we know the bottom fell out for CJ in the playoffs through for only 52%, two touchdowns, five interceptions, and five fumbles.
19:34And, you know, after his dynamite rookie season, it's kind of going downhill with the stats.
19:38So for CJ, he really has to get back to how he looked as a rookie and show that he is the guy.
19:45Because he has flashed all the talent. It seems as if the Texans organization believes in him, Judy, and has said all
19:52the right things that they're going to do right by him.
19:55But he can help it out a lot by going out there and playing well.
20:00Well, you know, when he was on the field last year, we did see flashes.
20:04And you thought, like, all right, maybe he's getting back to what he was in his rookie season.
20:09But then, as you said, the lingering memory is how the bottom fell out in the playoff games.
20:15And you wonder, not even can he get back to that rookie level, but is there going to be an after effect of the way last season ended?
20:23Certainly the Texans hope not. And as you pointed out, they have a championship level defense.
20:28So if they can get him back to close to what he was as a rookie, that is a potential championship caliber team coming out of the AFC.
20:36All right, Mark, let's talk about give us a wide receiver.
20:40Well, let's go with George Pickens from the Cowboys.
20:42And George Pickens on and off the field has kind of been mercurial for his whole entire career, even in college.
20:49And last season, we saw a little bit of that, even though he kind of righted the ship throughout the season and
20:55really just was everything that the Cowboys wanted him to be.
20:58First in the NFL versus man coverage in yards, third in total yards overall, eighth in reception.
21:03So really everything they wanted opposite CeeDee Lamb. But it's can you still trust him?
21:08You know, was this a one and done type of situation playing under the franchise tag this year?
21:13Does Dallas want to wrap up all of that money into one position group?
21:17Because CeeDee Lamb just got paid a couple years ago, Mike.
21:21So really for George Pickens, of course, his play warranted an extension, but it's still that lingering effect of can we really trust this guy?
21:28Yeah, Pickens ended all talk of a possible holdout in the spring when he said he would be there for training camp.
21:35He has to go out and play well if he wants to set himself up for a payday this offseason, whether it's with the Cowboys or another team.
21:43So we do expect George Pickens to be out there participating and ready to roll come week one for these Cowboys.
21:49How about another receiver that needs to prove it?
21:52Yeah, let's go with Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Cardinals, the former fourth round pick who at the time, I thought this
21:59guy was the best receiving prospect since, I don't know, Julio Jones and A.J.
22:03Green. So he really has to prove it that he deserves that lofty status.
22:07Rookie season was decent, but he got overshadowed by Malik Nabors and Brian Thomas Jr., the other first round picks there who had fantastic rookie seasons.
22:15And then last year really went downhill, only 608 yards and four touchdowns, second on the team behind Michael Wilson.
22:21So you don't want to have your fourth round pick be your second leading receiver.
22:25And that's not even counting Trey McBride, the tight end, who was fantastic.
22:29So for Marvin Harrison Jr., get the confidence back because, Judy, he just didn't look like that confident big-time playmaker that I scouted in college.
22:36You know, some drops that you never saw him have, a little bit of lethargy in his route.
22:42So let's get that confidence back up, Marvin Harrison, to show you're a Pro Bowl-type player.
22:47You know, you're tempted to chalk this up to maybe not the best quarterback play, getting the ball to Marvin Harrison.
22:53But as you pointed out, he's being overshadowed by players on his own team.
22:57And he did, his body language just didn't look right.
23:00He looks like he gets down on himself. Maybe the change at quarterback will make a difference this year.
23:06It's probably not going to be top-of-the-line quarterback play that he's going to get.
23:10But if he can get steady quarterback play, maybe he gets the confidence back, and then maybe he'll look like the Marvin Harrison Jr.
23:17we all thought we were getting in the NFL.
23:20All right, I bet I know which defender you're going to say needs to have a season.
23:25Well, let's go with Kayvon Thibodeau from the Giants.
23:27You know, the former fifth pick in the draft, and has really been somewhat of a disappointment.
23:3223-and-a-half sacks in his four-year career. Last season, of course, banged up, put on IR with a shoulder injury after only two-and-a-half sacks and five tackles for loss.
23:41And because of that, the Giants really the last couple years have had to draft Abdul Carter and then Arvel Reese this year.
23:48And it's because if he really showed, he proved it in the years past, you probably wouldn't have seen the Giants go address those needs there.
23:55Of course, signed Brian Burns in free agency as well.
23:58So when you take a big swing up there with the fifth pick in the draft, and then you try to go
24:05find other guys to supplement that position, you know, that's really not how you want to build your roster.
24:11But for the Giants, for Kayvon Thibodeau, another chance to go out there with all that talent around him.
24:16He can go kind of rack up sacks and show that he's worth it there, Mike.
24:21Kayvon Thibodeau basically said goodbye during the draft because he was buying some of the reports and the rumors that he was going to be shipped off.
24:29But the Giants had a price on him and said, if nobody's willing to match this price, we'll just have another guy
24:36up front that we know can get after the passer.
24:39And if the Giants have to make a decision whether to pay Thibodeau after the season, that means he played well.
24:45That's a good problem for the Giants to have.
24:48So we'll see how it goes for Kayvon Thibodeau.
24:50Mark has more to prove. He's back later in the show.
24:54He will be with us then. Steve Weiss. All right, Mike, you guys are talking about some guys under contract.
24:59Let's look at some of the unsigned free agents that are still out there.
25:04And there are some guys who can play. Jimmy Garoppolo, Deebo Samuel, DeAndre Hopkins, Kyle Vannoy, Jadavian Clowney.
25:09Let's bring back Mike Garofalo and Judy Batista to break down some of the bigger names that are still available.
25:15Mike G, I know you wish you had his hair and maybe his good looks too, but why don't you get started with Jimmy Garoppolo?
25:22Oh, man, the double whammy. Kyle, a double dagger.
25:25You're not wrong, though. Not wrong. My wife is nearby.
25:28She would agree with you. We're not talking about looks.
25:31We're talking about football. Jimmy Garoppolo back in April, Ian Rappaport reported that he was considering retirement.
25:36And the Rams were saying, yeah, that's not news to us.
25:39We heard that and we're giving him time and we'd love to have him back.
25:44They have since drafted a quarterback. You may have heard about that.
25:47Here's my understanding with Jimmy G. For the right, in the right situation, he will come back and he will play football.
25:54He has not decided to retire. He just needed some time to himself this offseason.
25:58And now it's like, OK, a little bit refreshed, renewed.
26:01I don't think anything is imminent. I wouldn't expect him to sign with anybody.
26:06Maybe it's going to have to be an injury to a quarterback.
26:09And all of a sudden you need a veteran guy to come in and be part of the mix, if not the starter.
26:16But Jimmy Garoppolo is not retiring, from my understanding.
26:19He will continue to play. Yeah, interesting news there, Mike, with that development, he's not retiring.
26:24And I'm with you. Why would Jimmy Garoppolo rush into a situation right now where he might not find himself in a position to play?
26:31Sure, he will wait that one out to see if some type of situation opens up.
26:36All right, Dewey, let's bring you in. And to me, the guy I'm stunned that is not on a roster is wide receiver Stefan Diggs.
26:43Yeah, because he is coming off a really good season, a thousand-yard receiving season.
26:47He was a big part of Drake May taking the big leap up.
26:51He was almost a league MVP. He was consistently performing for the Patriots.
26:55He was let go from the Patriots in a salary cap move, financial decision.
26:59And he has said publicly he knows he is probably not anybody's number one receiver anymore, that he would have to be number two.
27:06But he says he thinks he's better than any other number two receiver could be in the league.
27:12There are certainly teams that could use number two receivers, including teams that are probably going to be in the playoff mix.
27:18Stefan Diggs, I think it would be a surprise if he does not catch on with a team fairly soon here.
27:25Again, as teams look at their rosters as they get into training camp, there are certainly teams that could use more wide receiver help.
27:32And he proved that he is still a viable one and that the knee is sound.
27:37Yeah, there is a team like in his backyard where he grew up in Washington, D.C., that could use someone like Stefan Diggs.
27:43All right, Mike, Jadavion Clowney had eight and a half sacks last year for the Dallas Cowboys.
27:48He's been on three different teams the past three years, and he's been productive pretty much for the most part on all of them.
27:56Why is he still available? Yeah, you say all that and you go, why does Jadavion Clowney not have interest?
28:02Well, I'm here to tell you that he does.
28:04And after having that production, a former number one overall pick, a guy that's made plenty of money in his career, it's
28:11like, I know what my value is, and I'm not taking anything less than it.
28:15Now, my understanding is there are four teams that have been vying for his services recently, and there's starting to be a
28:22little bit more momentum as to when this could get done for Clowney.
28:26That is what I was told today on him.
28:28So a veteran pass rusher who had an excellent year that maybe we didn't give enough attention to this past season is
28:35going to be there for the taking for a team and very well might be on a team in the near future.
28:42Going to keep an ear out for Jadavion Clowney to see when that gets done.
28:46Boy, he'd be a perfect rotational pass rusher. He continues to produce after his long career.
28:51I like the four teams that are interested. Okay, Judy, our last player is someone who's technically not a free agent.
28:57He's still under contract with the 49ers, but there's a lot going on with wide receiver Brandon Iyuk.
29:02What exactly could be going on in his situation?
29:05You know, because he's trying to update us every day on Instagram and TikTok, but there's a lot of things going on
29:12in the league that we've got to figure out with him.
29:15That's where he's going to land. Well, don't forget, he still has to apply for reinstatement before anything can happen.
29:21I mean, let's be clear. He's not going to be with the 49ers anymore, and he's almost certainly not going to be traded.
29:28He's not going to be traded. He's going to have to be released.
29:32Again, he's got to apply for reinstatement. And then the question is, once he is free, what has he done to his own market?
29:39This offseason and the constant public conversation that he has initiated about where he wants to be.
29:44You mentioned the Washington commanders. He has made it very clear he wants to be with the Washington commanders.
29:49It's not clear if the Washington commanders or anybody else will want him after what this offseason has been like.
29:55But before we even get to that decision-making point, he's going to have to report.
30:00The 49ers have said that all along. He's got to be reinstated.
30:03They would have to release him. And then we will see what the market looks like for Brandon Ayuk.
30:09It has been a very, very bizarre offseason with him.
30:12Yeah, I've said this. If he wanted to force the issue all spring, just show up for work.
30:17And the 49ers wouldn't want you to get injured.
30:20And all of a sudden, non-guaranteed money becomes guaranteed.
30:23He hasn't even shown the willingness to do that.
30:26He fired his representation recently, which he thought he had done previously, and then was found out that, oh, it never officially went through.
30:33So he did that. So he really didn't have anybody officially in his corner right now to help him through the process.
30:39I just still feel like there's a bunch of hurdles, not just physical ones, for Brandon Ayuk to get back on the
30:46football field, whether it's for the commanders or anybody else.
30:49But you mentioned physical hurdles. Let's not forget, he's coming off a significant knee injury.
30:53We have not seen Brandon Ayuk play football in quite some time.
30:57And Steve, part of that was, part of the reason that the guarantees were taken away from him was that he wasn't showing up for his rehab.
31:05So nobody really knows what the condition of the knee is, Steve.
31:08Yeah, well, that's a significant impediment, too, to him joining another team.
31:12Okay, we're going to be following this one, I'm sure, for several weeks.

32:10Before we get to football, before we start talking about camp, I want to talk about your summer side hustle first.
32:16You became a cover model this summer. How did that happen?
32:19Honestly, one thing kind of led to another. You know, they told us to take some time away from football when the season ended.
32:26You know, everybody kind of wanted to keep playing.
32:29But just to take a little step away, I went to New York for the first time, got to meet my cousin.
32:35She's on Broadway with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
32:38And I was really just out there buying clothes and food.
32:42And then I walked into a shop, a Ron David studio, and met actually Mr.
32:46Ron David. And he's a great guy. And then I met a guy named Phil, who he was also in there.
32:52He was like, hey, like, you looking for a stylist?
32:55And I was like, why not? You know, like, I'm just coming up.
32:59I don't really know too much about clothes and all of that.
33:03But then we went over to London. And I figured out, like, you know, from playing under Colorado my last year, you
33:09know, prom always said, you got to look like money to make money.
33:13So I was like, you know what? Why not?
33:16You only live life once. And kind of just took off from there and just started taking pictures.
33:21You know, I went to L.A. with the NFLPA, took pictures there.
33:25And one thing led to another. And then Bayless Magazine reached out to both of us.
33:30And we, you know, seized the opportunity. And that's kind of just how it happened in less than a month.
33:36That's amazing. Just the modeling career on accident. You said, you know, you don't know.
33:40I can see you got style. The shades, right?
33:43That's a stylish hoodie. Like, is this a side of yourself that's starting to come out?
33:48And you just can't stop it at this point?
33:50No, I think it's all me. Like, on the field, that's a different part of me.
33:55You know, when I'm taking pictures, that's a different part of me.
33:59But it all kind of rivels up into who BJ is overall.
34:02So I wouldn't necessarily say it's anything different than what I've already been doing myself.
34:07You know, my parents, you know, forcibly made me take pictures when I was a kid.
34:11But now I'm kind of just going with the flow, just being able to express myself and all of those areas of this creativity.
34:19You know, I met Martellus Bennett actually out there in California.
34:22He was just telling me all about that and just living life more playfully.
34:26So I'm just enjoying everything and making sure I take advantage of everything as well.
34:31But let's talk about the BJ we're going to see on the field.
34:34Last year at this time, you were just going into training camp hoping to make the roster.
34:39You were an undrafted free agent. Obviously, things are much different for you this season.
34:44How much different do you feel going into this training camp right now as a guy who already has a year under
34:51his belt and two sacks in the NFL? I'm still humble.
34:54Like, I feel like I still haven't accomplished what my standard is or what I know I can be.
34:59But after playing a year and having as much success as we did last year and being around great guys like Josh,
35:06Trey, Eric, Deham, you know, being locker mates with a guy like Devin Lloyd, seeing what greatness looks like.
35:12You have no choice but to step it up in terms of the offseason.
35:16You know, after my parents let me like take a break, I was right back in the weight room, right back doing
35:22all the things I knew I needed to do in order to be what I know I can be coming this fall.
35:29You know, taking the right steps and OTAs, making sure I grow and just taking all the proper precautions.
35:35So. Let's talk about your defensive coordinator, Anthony Campanelli, a New Jersey guy like myself.
35:39Quite the personality. Now emerging as a head coaching candidate as well.
35:43What did you learn from him year one? And it's just got to be entertaining to have that guy in the room
35:49every single day with that accent, right? I think that he, first of all, like shout out to him as a man.
35:56You know, I feel like you can ask anybody in our building.
35:59We would all run through a wall for him.
36:02And that's just a testament to who he is as a person.
36:06He cares about us and he makes sure that he instills confidence in us and he lets us know every day that he believes in us.
36:13I think the biggest thing that I learned from him last year is just be who you are with us.
36:19Like we're not trying to take anything away from who he was as a person, but as long as you can do
36:26that as a cumulative effort and making sure that we all do what we're supposed to do, you know, the fun and the plays will come.
36:34And those are the things that we know we saw last year, especially with the defense, making sure we take the ball away.
36:40You know, he'll never, he'll never shy away from a moment to show us some boxing history and boxing highlights.
36:46You know, at times I feel like we're watching boxing with a football, but you see it on defense when we all
36:53come out and we attack the football, we're all punching out the ball.
36:57So obviously it's working, you know, he just, he's a very intense dude and that intensity, you know, it channels and it
37:03travels throughout the whole defense and it's electrifying. And it's amazing to be a part of.
37:08Before we let you go, we want to ask you, you just recently won an NFL PA Community MVP award.
37:14You had a free screening for some kids with disabilities and chronic illnesses of Toy Story 5.
37:19How'd you get involved working with kids and what does that award mean to you?
37:24Um, I've always been involved with kids specifically with disabilities because my two younger siblings, they have a disability.
37:29My little brother has Down syndrome and my little sister had a heart condition.
37:34So I've always been around that. And that's always something that's been near and dear to my heart.
37:39I was very inspired to start my own foundation, inspired by a first big adventure out of Atlanta, Georgia.
37:45You know, they take kids to Disney World and I was, I'm an alumni of that.
37:49So I wanted to do something that wasn't necessarily connected to football.
37:53I know a lot of guys do football camps and that's amazing as well, but I wanted to go somewhere a little
37:59bit different and to a different hobby that I have.
38:02You know, football is something that I love to do.
38:05I like, I eat, sleep and breathe it. So, you know, movies are also something that I help, that helps me alleviate my mind and takes away.
38:13It helps me just take a break. So I wanted to just include that and include them in that and just making sure, like, bring them with me.
38:22So we did that. You know, I made sure that, you know, there wasn't any theatrics with it.
38:27Like, they were just coming with me to the movies.
38:30Like, everybody was just one big family. Had everybody come out there and take a little bit, a couple pictures.
38:36And I'm definitely going to be doing another event very soon.
38:39Good on you, man. Great to hear that. And come talk to us when you have your next event.

39:47league, there are some wide receiver rooms that Mark has his eye on.
39:51Mark, you're looking at the Giants right now. A lot of talent, but a few things to get through as well.
39:57Yeah, a lot of names there that we know, but how many of them are really prove-it type guys that are number ones there?
40:05Of course, Malik Nabors is going to be there if he's healthy, Steve.
40:09So, if he's not, I mean, you're looking at Darius Slayton, who's been around at really a third or fourth type.
40:15Calvin Austin. Odell Beckham Jr. coming back there. Darnell Mooney, Juju Smith-Schuster, all of those kind of veterans, you know, in the
40:21middle of the pack, they're vying for a job.
40:24They drafted Malachi Fields, the big receiver out of Notre Dame, in the third round last year.
40:29So, he'll definitely be on the roster. How much playtime, we don't know.
40:33But really, just a mixed bag, Steve, of all of those guys vying to be the second guy.
40:38So, Malik Nabors better get back healthy and look like the Malik Nabors of old.
40:43Because after that, none of those guys really inspire much fear, but someone's going to make it.
40:48Well, he's got a ways to go, but let's not forget his coaching and his team now.
40:53John Harbaugh, guess who he brought with him? His tight end, Isaiah Likely, coming up from Baltimore.
40:58Mark, real quickly, you know he might emerge as the leading and receiving target there.
41:02Well, for sure. And especially the way that they use him in Baltimore.
41:06It's the second option there, but seemed to always be that big play guy for Lamar when he was scrambling around.
41:13So, Isaiah Likely, another prove-it player to say, can you be the number one guy?
41:17Completely different being the starter and the guy that say, third down, go make a play for us, Isaiah, as opposed to,
41:24hey, you're our second or third option. So, yeah, you probably see him getting a lot of touches there and a lot of looks from Jackson Dart.
41:32All right, let's go to Kansas City now. This is an interesting wide receiver group because, Mark, Patrick Mahomes, we know he's done a lot of magic.
41:40But he might have to be at his best with this group of receivers that he has this year.
41:45Yeah, since Tyreek Hill left there, Steve, we're like, okay, get this receiver room right.
41:50And Travis Kelsey, of course, he mentioned Isaiah Likely.
41:53Travis Kelsey, even though the ageless one to be the number one option.
41:56But Rasheed Rice, you know, if he comes back looking like the flashes that he's shown in the past, Xavier Worthy has
42:03flashed but hasn't really been a consistent option like he thought he'd be as a first-round pick.
42:08He's got Taequann Thornton really a specialist down the field.
42:11Then you've got a couple young guys in Jalen Royals and Cyrus Allen and Jimmy Holiday.
42:16But really, just a thin group, Steve. It's kind of shocking to see when you look at all that names.
42:22You look at the depth chart of saying, wow, how are the Chiefs going to scare people on the outside?
42:28So, I know you kind of said earlier Rasheed Rice or bust, but let's see if Travis Kelsey can get one more year.
42:35Rasheed Rice, one of these guys, Xavier Worthy, step up and show why you're a first-round pick.
42:40Now, look, you're with the Eagles. You know what's going to happen.
42:43Kenneth Walker was the running back where they signed from Seattle.
42:46He isn't going to be just running the football mark.
42:49He's going to be catching a lot of passes out of the backseat.
42:53Screen? For sure. That's why they signed him. I'm sure Andy Reid thinking about Brian Westbrook 2.0 or Kenneth Walker.
42:59An underutilized part of his game in the past with Kenneth Walker.
43:03But you saw a lot of the flashes in the playoffs.
