PositiveValueJul 31, 2026
Gainwell finished last year as RB16, averaging 13 PPR fantasy points per game despite sharing the backfield with Jaylen Warren (RB17); he was a force in the passing game, ranking fourth among running backs in receptions (73) and fifth in receiving yards (486). The Buccaneers signed Gainwell to a significant free-agency contract in 2026. While he won't have Aaron Rodgers throwing to him, if Bucky Irving struggles to stay healthy for a second consecutive season, Gainwell could have a career year. At ADP 103.5 (RB35), he offers league-winning upside.
PositiveValueJul 26, 2026
Gainwell hit his stride in Weeks 11-18 as RB7 in fantasy points per game with 13.3 touches and 85 total yards per game. During that stretch, ranked third in target share (17.5%), second in receiving yards per game (45.4), fourth in yards per route run (2.10), and first in first downs per route run (0.116); also ranked 14th in explosive run rate and missed tackle rate overall. Now joins Tampa Bay as complement to Bucky Irving, who has substantial injury history. ECR is RB36 with +2 gap to ADP; could return RB2 value with strong PPR appeal, especially if Irving misses time.
PositiveSleeperJul 24, 2026
Gainwell was a league-winner in 2025 despite starting as an afterthought to Jaylen Warren in Pittsburgh, finishing with 73 receptions for 486 yards on a mediocre offense. Now with Baker Mayfield as his quarterback and a new two-year, $14 million contract, Gainwell is still going after pick 100 in drafts but could explode with numbers beyond 2025 while also rushing for 600+ yards. In PPR formats, he deserves to be a clear top-100 player but is often drafted as a bench piece.
PositiveRoleJul 23, 2026
Gainwell was integral to Pittsburgh's backfield in 2025 and hit his stride in Weeks 11-18 as the RB7 in fantasy points per game with 13.3 touches and 85 total yards per game. His passing game production was elite during this stretch: third in target share (17.5%), second in receiving yards per game (45.4), fourth in yards per route run (2.10), and first in first downs per route run (0.116). He also ranked 14th in explosive run rate and missed tackle rate overall for the season. He joins Tampa Bay as a complement to Bucky Irving and could easily return RB2 value in 2026 if circumstances align, with particular appeal in PPR formats.
PositiveProjectionJul 21, 2026
Gainwell is a bet against Bucky Irving, for Tampa Bay's offensive line to be healthier, and for new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson to improve the offense. Gainwell was RB26 in half-PPR points per game (10.9) among running backs with at least eight games played in 2025 and has a track record of excelling in the passing game. He set career highs for rush attempts (114), rushing yards (537) and rushing touchdowns (five) in the regular season in 2025.
