Meeks, a tight end convert, put his receiving skills on display, leading the team in receptions (4) and receiving yards (33), and was tied for the most snaps among tight ends; made plays when it mattered, converting a fourth down with an adapted route and reception, then forced a fumble late in the game with a special teams tackle. Meeks said of adjusting to tight end: "It does feel like home. I'm loving tight end. I think I am loving the challenge more than—I love football—but I am loving the challenge because I am learning a whole new part of football."

Meeks converted from WR-X to tight end mid-season last year and has risen up the depth chart this offseason due to injuries in the tight end room. Though undersized for the position, Meeks brings unique receiving ability and has been competing for a TE4 role all camp. With rookie Miles Kitselman now on injured reserve, Meeks' path to the roster is easier; a strong preseason performance will give him a chance to hold off Thomas Gordon and secure a fourth tight end spot on the 53-man roster.

Converted from wide receiver to tight end; coach Dan Campbell praised his transition, saying "The speed and the ability to separate, catch the football, it really has shown moving him to the tight end position" and "I feel like he's done some good things on special teams. So, we like Meeks. He's got an opportunity." Campbell indicated Meeks' speed and receiving ability are translating well to the position, and his special teams contributions enhance his roster value.
