Breece Hall

NegativeRole1:10

Breece Hall's usage under Nathaniel Hackett in 2023 (returning from ACL tear) provides a historical precedent for how Hackett may deploy Jeremiah Love. Hackett utilized Hall as a receiver and in diverse offensive roles, producing a fantasy-productive year despite the Jets' poor quarterback situation. However, Hall's rookie year (2022) under offensive coordinator Michael LaFleur featured heavy passing-game usage, suggesting Hackett's approach may differ from his predecessor's rookie-year strategy.

James Conner

PositiveRole0:00

Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett unprompted expressed enthusiasm about James Conner getting on the field, saying 'Excited for James to get out there and show what he's got.' This unsolicited enthusiasm for Conner, paired with Hackett's more measured response when directly asked about Jeremiah Love's progression, suggests Conner may have a meaningful role in the Cardinals backfield and could compete for carries despite Love being the drafted rookie.

Jeremiyah Love

NegativeRole0:00

Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett's measured response to a direct question about Jeremiah Love's progression—'he's definitely a rookie, as we've talked about, and he'll keep growing every single day. I'm very excited for him, all those guys, not just him'—signals uncertainty about Love's role as the primary back. The emphasis on excitement for 'all those guys' rather than a direct commitment to Love as the lead back, combined with Hackett's unprompted enthusiasm for James Conner ('Excited for James to get out there and show what he's got'), suggests Conner may compete for carries despite Love being the drafted rookie. Hall. It notes that Hackett's historical usage of Breece Hall in 2023 (returning from ACL tear) featured Hall as a receiver in diverse offensive roles, producing a fantasy-productive year despite poor quarterback situation, which may inform Love's deployment.

0:00They asked
0:01Nathaniel Hackett, the Arizona Cardinals
0:04offensive coordinator,
0:06uh just a few days ago,
0:09"Do you see the running back room as
0:12having a starter?"
0:13And he says, quote, "I mean, right now,
0:16it's a great room. I mean, I'm really
0:18excited about it. Excited for James to
0:21get out there and show what he's got. I
0:22mean, all the guys." End quote. I had I
0:25went back
0:27several times,
0:28rewatched to make sure that that he is
0:31saying James. And then I was
0:35also like,
0:36"Is there any anybody else that he could
0:38be referring to?" So, I'm like, "James,
0:41like, is this Is he talking about James
0:43Conner? [laughter]
0:45Who is he referring to?
0:46With James?"
0:48And he was.
0:50He was referring to James Conner. And
0:52then they also asked him,
0:54like, right after this, "Where is
0:56Jeremiah Love at with his progression?"
1:00And Hackett said, quote, "I mean, he's
1:02definitely a rookie,
1:04as we've talked about, and he'll keep
1:06growing every single day. I'm very
1:07excited for him, all those guys, not
1:09just him." End quote.
1:11>> You know, from the Jeremiah Love
1:13perspective,
1:14you do have, you know,
1:17Hackett had Breece Hall in 2023 when
1:20he's coming off the ACL tear. And
1:22ultimately, I think
1:26utilized him in as a receiver and did
1:28some interesting things with Hall. It
1:29was a productive year returning there. I
1:32I think I will give Hackett, you know,
1:35a little bit of of forgiveness for how
1:38the offense looked that year. He had to
1:39deal with with Zach Wilson and stuff. It
1:41was a It was a rough situation for
1:43Hackett. Um
1:45this situation's also going to be rough,
1:47but but honestly, like the quarterback
1:49situation was probably worse that year
1:51for the Jets. So, you know, you you have
1:53him utilizing Hall in ways that I think
1:56were not bad,
1:58you know, pretty good for fantasy.
2:01That wasn't Hall's rookie year, though.
2:03You know, perhaps as a rookie he would
2:05have leaned on a a more of a veteran
2:07guy, but the the head coach or sorry,
2:09the OC when Hall was a rookie was
2:11Michael LaFleur.
2:13So, right away they used him a
2:16>> a lot in the passing game as well.
2:18>> game as well. Yeah, so I think
2:21I'm pretty I don't really give a [ __ ]
2:23about this. Like I don't think they
2:24>> Same.
2:26>> They they can't Like the fact that
2:29Hackett is clearly tempted to play James
2:32Conner over uh over Jeremiah Love
2:37confirms for me that like he shouldn't
2:40be their OC and it seems like people are
2:42are feeling the same way online.
2:46But I also don't think it's like the
2:47thing it's not like he can
2:50it's not going to really happen.
