0:01Welcome to the Legendary Upside podcast and YouTube channel. My name is Pat Kerrane. You follow all my content at legendaryupside.com.
0:08With me today Sam Sherman for that's fair. And Sam, for the last that's fair of the summer, we've kept it fair for
0:16months now. Who will keep it fair in the season?
0:21>> I don't know. I mean, the the Bears practice today was was not keeping it fair. Um De'Andre Swift and Romeo Doubs
0:29are injured now.
0:31>> Are they injured? I missed this.
0:33>> This is breaking breaking news. Um >> I've been podcasting with Vine for, so I didn't see this.
0:39>> Yeah, it it's like very You can check it out on like Rotoworld maybe for the quick blurbs, but both Doubs and Swift
0:46left practice early, unclear on severity. Like the vibes is that like Swift's sounds worse, but it's like there's still very little information,
0:56so we just don't know. But that that was just >> great. Tilting.
0:59>> And just a reminder that uh >> Yeah, NFL season's about to start again.
1:04>> Yeah, exactly.
1:06>> Cuz this is a part of it, yeah.
1:08>> Yeah.
1:08>> Unfortunate part of it.
1:10All right. Well, yeah, I mean, it's Yeah, this the injuries, man.
1:18We should consider injuries off one of these seasons. What do you think?
1:22>> I mean, yeah, I'm surprised Goodell hasn't looked into that yet. I mean, can't you just ask Claude to to turn
1:29injuries off or something? There's there's got to be >> If this is a simulation, then I think maybe we could.
1:35>> Yeah. Yeah.
1:37>> Yeah, came up hobbling Romeo Doubs, um but wasn't overly concerned and tried to continue practicing, and then the Bears' trainers moved him from the field.
1:46Yeah.
1:47>> Yeah, that That one That one sounded okay. The Swift I saw some tweet It was some beat reporter that was like it
1:54looked like Swift was in significant discomfort.
1:58That can be anything from like >> it looks like.
2:00>> Yeah, midsection. That could literally be anything from like getting hit in the balls really hard to a serious injury.
2:08>> Yeah, that It could be nothing.
2:12Or something.
2:12>> maybe he just needed to poop? Let's all fingers crossed.
2:15>> I hope so. I hope so.
2:17Oh.
2:19Um >> Yeah, I've been telling to get more Swift recently.
2:22>> Yeah, I've liked Swift. I mean that one I mean that one is interesting. I guess like there's nothing we really know right
2:30now. I would say like manage league advice if you're in a league that has like open ad drops right now, just I'd pick up Roschon Johnson, I
2:38think, because he could be I mean we don't this is like obviously a just we don't know situation, but if you have some other roster spot on some
2:46like random handcuff that sucks. May Roschon could project as like an RB2 week one it like Mon guy still week to week. So, I would say that's the
2:56only like actionable thing I would do right now as a result of this information.
3:02>> Yeah, I I think that's right.
3:04Um I think even for like for best ball, I don't want Roschon I don't >> No. I don't think unless this
3:12Yeah, if Swift was out for a while, sure. But like Mon guy, you know, he's been week to week.
3:20He's going to be He's going to be back at some point and Roschon's still >> know.
3:25>> So, um but yeah, I think for like a speculative end of the roster type of thing, uh if you got the roster spot,
3:34for sure.
3:35>> I I see some comments that I'm I'm looking like a kidnapped victim reading this kidnapper's man. I mean mentioning mentioning Roschon Johnson and touting
3:43him is something that a kidnapper would would force me to do.
3:46>> Well, you know what it is too, it's like it's not like it might not be that this is like I
3:52might be talking to a video of you.
3:54Because Roshan Johnson doesn't >> [laughter] >> You know, like you could this could be from 2 years ago that you drafted Roshan
4:02Johnson.
4:04>> Well, how you know it's not a video?
4:05>> getting hurt. Yeah.
4:06>> Yeah, how you know it's not a video is I would have touted Travis Homer 2 years ago instead of Roshan Johnson. So,
4:11that's that's how you can tell that it's this is real. But, um yeah, should we should we hit it on let's hit on maybe
4:18some of the the stuff we know more about at this point. Pat, did you want to start with the uh we haven't talked
4:25talked since the Jacob's stuff happened.
4:27Um so, maybe we can kick off with that.
4:30>> Um Yeah, let's talk the Jacob's stuff which obviously is super murky now in terms of if he's going to play at all this
4:38season. Um and yeah, he's potentially going to miss the whole season cuz he's on the exempt list. They don't have to take him off.
4:49Uh Schefter's talked about how he would maybe have a hard time seeing it resolve.
4:55Schefter's been kind of he's had a a thing the other day where he's like the NFL can issue discipline before uh the legal case wraps up. Which to me
5:05read like they might just hit him with the you know, eight game suspension or something.
5:09Um because they've seen the video and these are misdemeanors. So, don't necessarily need to see whether or not he's convicted. They could basically
5:18just convict him, you know, in their minds. Yeah. Hit him with an eight gamer, hit him with a 10 gamer, whatever.
5:24But, then he's able to, you know, return uh for the final part of the season, something like that. But, then Schefter
5:32more recently spoke on seeing this being hard how does this resolve before his court date? Well, his court date's not until I believe after
5:40week 10.
5:42So, you know, that could be that could be pretty pretty rough for him and then that's that's his initial appearance as
5:51well so he might then not be able to you know actually get the situation resolved until much later than that
6:01and so he could miss the whole year so uh you know the Packers have said they expect him to play this year but I would
6:07say they're probably guessing like I don't think the Packers know one way or the one way or another at this point
6:12they've also seen said they haven't seen the video which is obviously driving like the video very very clearly is driving this on the NFL side this is kind of Ray
6:22Rice you know 2.0 in their worst case scenario minds and they don't want to deal with that obviously that was a huge black eye for the league
6:31they hit him with a two game or before that video came out they looked like absolute [ __ ] so I think they were they could be
6:39inclined to just let him sit on the list until this resolves but at the same time I think if there wasn't a video here
6:46he was charged with felonies then they were reduced to misdemeanors I do believe without the presence of video he probably is looking at like
6:56you know I mean maybe he gets a six game suspension but I don't think they put him on the list I think they would let
7:01it I think they would have let it play out uh if there wasn't video here so you know and it's his video so then how
7:10would it leak you know like I don't I think it's a lower likelihood of the video leaking than in some other
7:14situations as well so yeah I just it's a very very tricky situation to parse um you know with the charges being reduced
7:25from felonies to misdemeanors but then him going on the exempt list etc etc so what are what are your thoughts?
7:32>> I I feel similar to you it's extremely difficult situation to parse I think the NFL is basically playing a PR game here
7:41where they don't want a video to come out and it to appear that they were too lenient on Josh Jacobs. So, their
7:49strategy could be even, "Hey, we don't know if the video is going to come out, but if there's a chance it's going to
7:55come out, we look better having him in this indefinite suspension space rather than making some kind of definitive ruling or letting him play, and that
8:05results in a huge PR backlash on the NFL." So, I think that's kind of what's going on here.
8:12And how many games he ultimately ends up missing, I think depends on a ton of factors. It depends on, "Hey, does this
8:18legal situation get settled?" It depends on, "How bad is this video? Does the video come out? What is the public's reaction to this video?" And also, I
8:29think honestly depends on how good is MarShawn Lloyd and Caleb Johnson, because I think there is a world and now this is probably less likely, there is a
8:37world where uh these guys, Johnson, Brooks, Caleb, whoever they have filling in for Jacobs, perform well enough where the team is like, "Hey, is it worth
8:47bringing back Jacobs into this locker room with all the circus of what's going on?"
8:53Again, there's just there's a lot of things going on. I think like to make it actionable, I think >> would be the video came out. That's I
9:00think if If the video comes out, all bets are off, and I would expect him probably not to be on the Packers if,
9:08you know, like most likely. Like I don't know what what's on the video, but I would you know, it's not good. Yeah. So,
9:16uh I would think at that point he probably just gets released, but I also I don't think the video does come out,
9:21at least this year, because it's evidence in a trial, and it's Jacobs' own security footage.
9:30So, he's not leaking it.
9:32And anyone with access to it that's not Jacobs would potentially be committing a crime, not potentially, probably just straight up is committing a crime
9:40by leaking it. So, that's >> Yeah.
9:44>> I think it probably doesn't come out.
9:45But, of course, you know, I don't know.
9:46Things crazy crazy [ __ ] happens all the time.
9:49>> Yeah. Yeah. I I I think that makes sense, too. I mean, yeah, I I don't I don't know how to
9:56assign percentages to this, but I think that like the range of outcomes seems to me like most likely is probably 6 to 10
10:04games missed, and then he plays the rest of the season. Like, that's probably the most likely outcome.
10:10But, >> with a but a serious little You want to You don't You're not done yet.
10:15>> [laughter] >> Yeah. Yeah.
10:17>> There's also a chance he just never plays.
10:18>> Yeah, there's a chance he never never plays or like You also have to think of like that that gives Zamir White,
10:25whoever whatever other running backs you want to throw out there a chance to earn bigger roles, and maybe Jacobs isn't coming back to that workhorse role he
10:33had in the past. Um, so, I have been drafting him. Again, this is like this is such a hard thing to like
10:41gauge. Um, I've been drafting in DraftKings uh recently cuz I'm in Maine, and uh Underdog is banned. On DraftKings, he does fall to like 130, 140.
10:52Um, I've taken I think earliest I've taken him is like 125-ish, something in that range. Um, I've been taking him in Best Ball. Um, cuz I think
11:02the risk is worth it there once the guys that have like roles are gone, it's like, "Okay, you know, Keeton Mitchell,
11:11who has a mysterious injury, or Josh Jacobs at pick 135?" And I'm like, I I'm taking Jacobs there even if he has
11:18a zero risk. So, that's how I've been playing on DraftKings uh in that range.
11:23>> In all honesty, it's been one where, you know, I've been trying to dial it in. We've had a ton of discussions on
11:32what his risk should look like, you know, of each, you know, cuz I tend to agree with you that it's probably 6 to 10 games if he gets
11:40straight-up suspended or you know, he kind of sits on the list and then like he could sit on the list for 10 weeks
11:45and then the plea gets sorted out, you know, at that court date and you know, that could happen ahead of the court
11:52date, whatever it is.
11:54And then he could get like kind of retroactively suspended uh and then return to play.
11:59And if that happens, then you're going to probably be pretty happy that you drafted him even well ahead of where you're saying. Like he I think you're
12:07going to be happy to have had him in the ninth round.
12:10Um if if that is how it plays out, but it's the risk of does he does he not play at all this year that's really
12:17going to hurt that team. There's no like there's no good place to take Jacobs if that's the way it plays out. And so how are you
12:23pricing that part of it? And I took him yesterday in the Spite Main um at the 10:01.
12:30Um and then I took him in a 555 I think in the I think at the 9:01. Um but
12:39after that I was kind of like uh like that I think that's probably a little too early. I think I'm more like
12:47if he I think I want more of a discount where he he falls more to like the end of the 10th and into the 11th is I think
12:54where and I have more Jacobs than you do to begin with.
12:58So some of the Jacobs stuff like if I've got some well-built sixth-round Jacobs teams and he returns to the end of the season
13:07uh I've got hyper-fragile teams with three other early running backs and Jacobs.
13:11So those teams were probably dead, but they they have a chance if he only misses six games. So I feel like I'm
13:21I'm not like as eager to take on a lot more risk with him, but if he falls him enough where you're saying
13:27until like the 130s, I agree with you that at that point it is start it starts to look tilted to the upside.
13:33>> Yeah, and and in manage too, like I this is wasn't a main event. This is like a $100 buying with with friends,
13:40uh PPR league, whatever it's kind of standard one quarterback stuff. I took him in the 10th round last night in manage because
13:49honestly, you go back to your your drafts and you're cutting your ninth, 10th, or 11th like so many times in manage leagues. So, I really don't like
13:59worry about it too much there. So, I think you're you're picking the main at 10:01 or whatever, like that sounds fine
14:05to me. And even on the right build, if you like are really starving for running back upside in like the ninth round,
14:11don't think that's bad in manage cuz like I don't think dropping dropping your ninth round pick isn't great. It's not going to sink you. Like I don't I
14:18don't think it's like that big of a deal to be honest. So many busts in the draft, so.
14:23>> Yeah. I agree and I I think uh Um yeah, I think you want to probably do it in more actually the deeper kind of high
14:33stakes leagues. Although, you know, that seems maybe counterintuitive um because it's a risky pick, but I think something like the main event
14:42it's a million dollars up top and you have to finish first in the sprint and the payoff the drop off between, you know, first I think it's
14:49like 10th is 10,000 or something. Like it's it's a steep drop off in the main event. You want to finish number one.
14:56You know, not not seventh or eighth or whatever. Like you you really do uh want to be shooting for first there
15:03and obviously, if you get 10th round Jacobs or ninth round Jacobs and he does play a big chunk of the season,
15:10that could be a big part of that where a lot of Jacobs teams are going to have a hard time making the sprint in the main
15:16event. Um so, uh and then obviously, the type of builds that you have him on, I think are are key. What What about on the Lloyd
15:26side? I mean the Lloyd side So, I have uh two 555s over the last uh few days. One, I think like I said, I think was 901
15:35Jacobs, but I also have a 701 Lloyd uh on Sunday when I was when I was thinking, "Oh man, you know,
15:43Lloyd might be the running back all season." I've kind of It's been I've sort of fluctuated over the last few days as I think
15:51most people probably have uh as we try to get a a read on how exactly this is going to play out, but you know, Lloyd
15:57is like an advance rate kind of piece in a in a format like the 555 or even a format like the Main Event where, you
16:04know, there's only 12 weeks of the regular season because you got those two playoff weeks in weeks 13 and 14 and then the
16:13three-week sprint. So, you have 12 weeks to earn an automatic bid if you get Marshaun Lloyd four 10 of those, that could be pretty sweet. Um he's kind
16:24of in the seventh, eighth round generally. What are your thoughts on him?
16:28>> Yeah. Uh first of all, I just want to say it's like so funny that Marshaun Lloyd is being talked about as like a
16:34advance rate piece like the >> [laughter] >> just >> I they right.
16:38>> It's just like such a funny timeline that we're in. It's like, "Yeah, he's just, you know, a safe advance rate
16:43piece. Marshaun Lloyd, yeah, very stable uh early season projection type of guy."
16:47No.
16:47>> I don't know what Marshaun Lloyd I don't even know what it looks like when he runs the ball.
16:51>> Yeah.
16:51>> [laughter] >> Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know if he can play at all, but uh no, I I do
16:56agree. I agree with what you're saying, though.
16:58Um yeah, like uh I I guess where exactly this is um in terms of round depends on format and stuff, but I have him in the same tier
17:09as the Ramondre, Jaylen Warren, um Trevion types. I think I have him towards the back of that tier, but
17:21that's about where I'm looking to grab him.
17:25Um, yeah, I think like just talking about like let's let's first talk about like expectations for week one usage.
17:30Uh, in the preseason game where Jacobs missed, Lloyd, I believe, handled nine of 14 snaps with the starters where
17:39Brooks was in on sort of clear passing down pass pro stuff. That is my base expectation for week one. I think it's
17:48going to be something like a 65-35 split, uh, Lloyd and Brooks being the top two guys. And then I think how that
17:57evolves from there is entirely dependent on how Lloyd performs. If he bricks and can't get the job done, they're going to
18:05try out Caleb Johnson. They're going to try out Pierre Strong. I'm very skeptical that like someone like Caleb Johnson, who couldn't do anything
18:12through two years, is going to like immediately earn like a week one or week two role with the first team. I'm like
18:18very skeptical of that. Lloyd's been in the building for, um, many more years.
18:22He's like clearly more trusted. So, I think like he is going to get the first crack at it. And then like the talent
18:28evaluation with him is just is so tricky. It's really a huge mystery box, uh, in terms of his ability and his
18:36upside, which is why like I think talking like someone like Ramondre, I know Ramondre has, you know, Trevion on the roster and and there's no Trevion
18:46equivalent in Green Bay, but we know Ramondre is a good player, can catch the ball, trusted by the team in the
18:53playoffs, is on a good offense. We feel good about the Patriots offense. And I think I just like feel much better about
18:59him holding on to the role verse verse, uh, Lloyd. So, I know that's I don't know. Maybe that's not even a decision
19:06people are facing. Like maybe it's obvious to people that, you know, um, Stevenson is better, but that's kind of like where where I have him slotted in
19:15behind that group of running backs.
19:18>> I think that makes sense. I think that the issue that you have for Lloyd is he might not be very good and that's not
19:24even then impacting him a ton while while Jacobs is out because also Caleb Johnson probably isn't very good and I saw someone had a comment that they look
19:36like they were splitting reps.
19:38Uh but then like who cares? Like Caleb is is new to the team. Like they probably want to see like what he looks
19:44like, you know? Like [clears throat] that doesn't mean he's you know, it doesn't really mean anything. Um >> It doesn't. Yeah. No.
19:50>> So yeah, it's uh and then yeah, they they a comment here, "Game is a game but sucks how much best
19:58ball discourse is trying to grind out EV on a domestic abuser."
20:03Uh yeah, it is it's it's gross that we have to to do this. Uh I miss the days when we were trying to figure out if Mixon still
20:11had a foot. Technically, those are still these days. I don't I haven't seen Joe Mixon in a while.
20:16Uh >> Yeah.
20:17>> But uh >> Or what what's Will Fuller Fuller up to?
20:19See, has anyone seen him?
20:21I'm still looking. I'm still looking for him.
20:24>> Right. But we do I mean, this is like we literally are playing a tournament where a variety of tournaments where
20:32figuring out whether or not to draft Lloyd, even if you're just like Jacobs is off my list, figuring out whether or
20:37not draft whether or not to draft Lloyd is >> very much dependent on what happens with Jacobs.
20:42Um >> Yeah.
20:43>> And I think with Lloyd you're dealing with the potential for him to just not be very good or deal, you know, guy's
20:49been hurt constantly. And so compared to someone like Ramondre, Henderson is going to be there all year, obviously, but Ramondre is ahead of him right now
20:57uh in in kind of a 1A 1B capacity.
21:01That could just stay, you know? He we know Ramondre can play. Um we don't know that Lloyd can play. So, what you have
21:08with Lloyd is the potential for him to be kind of like one of the worst starting running backs in the league for eight weeks, 10 weeks,
21:18and then a backup.
21:20Um, and that's a pretty rough way to spend a sixth-round pick.
21:26Seventh-round >> I'm like I kind of sounds like Tony Pollard.
21:32>> [laughter] >> Yeah, yeah.
21:34>> So, seventh-round and I'm kind of like, well, you know, there's he still would have contingent value if Jacobs came back and
21:40got hurt, you know? So >> the thing is the drop-off happens so fast that like it's like, oh yeah, clearly prefer Ramondre to him. But then
21:49once Ramondre's gone, it's like, man, it stuff falls off a cliff. I mean, Jaylen Warren, maybe that's another conversation we can have. I think I
21:57prefer Warren by a little. But like, the thing with Lloyd is like, I don't know, I feel like some people are talking
22:03about him, like people bring up these stats, he's like, oh, hasn't had more than 100 touches in a season since high school or whatever.
22:11People throwing out stuff like that.
22:12It's like, this is a guy who was drafted in the third round in the NFL.
22:16He's 220 lbs. He's a freak athlete. He can catch the ball. We saw him get running back air yard target in the
22:22preseason on a Texas route out of the backfield.
22:27The Green Bay Packers have been a top-10 offense every single year that LaFleur is there. Like, I'm tired of hearing the
22:33argument that like he doesn't have upside.
22:36>> He has upside.
22:37>> Yeah, yeah. So, I don't know. I got frustrated with that, but >> downside.
22:42>> Huge It's a huge error bar player.
22:46>> And his upside, the problem with him is that the upside is like tilted to the front half of the year. You know, you
22:51can argue Sometimes it's often it's much more theoretical and kind of debatable about who has upside in what parts of the year. It's not that
23:00debatable here. His upside is uh clearest in the early part of the year where Jacobs is almost certainly not going to
23:09be there.
23:10Um and then the path upside narrows considerably in the end of the year when Jacobs is most likely to play if he
23:16plays at all. So, um that's the that's the tricky part with him in these in these tournament like both both players if you draft
23:24them, I think is are really going to be very key to think about roster construction and not just how many running backs you have, although that's
23:32part of it, but, you know, the types of running backs you have and the types of other players that you have. Like
23:38do you are you have a you know, you have three receivers, but two of them are rookies.
23:43Marshawn Lloyd starts to look a little bit better, you know?
23:45>> Yeah.
23:46>> You trying to draft Jordan Tyson on this team? Probably wouldn't draft Jacobs as well, you know, and and then obviously,
23:52you know, how many like what types of running backs you got? Four running backs and they're all kind of in line
23:58for work right away? Like, you know, that's that's a team where maybe you want to I had a team, you know, pop up on the
24:04site where I had five running backs and I was clearly I was like in my mind I'm like I'm done.
24:10And Jacobs popped up as a sixth and I'm like, okay, yeah. This would be the type of team where Jacobs makes it, you know,
24:18um to the to the to round 15 or whatever.
24:21So, roster construction I think is is probably as important a consideration as price on these on on both players.
24:29>> Yep.
24:30Yep, I agree with that.
24:32Should we hit on um or I guess I guess quickly like um Caleb Johnson, Chris Brooks, um
24:42Pierre Strong even like in any levels of interest in these guys in managed or best ball? My take has been like
24:5218th to 20th round managed, I'm fine with tacking on a Caleb Johnson, Pierre Strong, maybe one of those guys unsurprisingly like mixes into the
25:01rotation in week one. Chris Chris Bro- Brooks to me is like an ultimate like George Holani, Darrynton Evans, like I I just don't see it at all with
25:11him if we're talking like viable fantasy guy. Maybe I'll be wrong about that, but but that's kind of how I'm looking at
25:17it.
25:17>> And no one would ever tout Travis Homer.
25:20>> Okay.
25:21>> [laughter] >> Let's set the record straight here.
25:25But the point of the Travis Homer take was to be an anti-Roschon Johnson take, which >> Which?
25:31>> straight.
25:31>> that did really well until today when you touted him.
25:34>> [laughter] >> Until today when I touted him. Until today.
25:39Um okay. So you're Yeah, we we can keep it short. You You sounds like you're you're not that interested in these
25:44deeper Green Bay guys.
25:46>> I agree with you about Caleb Johnson. I think Caleb Johnson to me in best ball, nah. Like I I'd rather take a Keaontay
25:52Ingram or something. Like you Like I don't have to Yeah. Cuz Keaontay Ingram I literally took in the the DK BBM. I
25:58took him like an hour ago in the 20th round. And I I took him at the 2012 uh in in a 555
26:06yesterday. Like he is completely free, but he did make the team as the running back three and kind of has an interesting college
26:15profile. He's like more of a two-down guy and seems to have you know, reasonably impressed his coaches given that they had some other options at the
26:25position and they they opted to go with him as the running back three to start the year. Could be a zero all year?
26:31Sure, but you know, you could also have like a little bit of a goal-line role, earn more work as the as the season goes
26:36on, etc. Caleb Johnson's like, "Okay, I'm probably playing for the beginning part of the year most likely." He was just given up on by a team who spent a
26:45third-round pick on him. That is super bearish. You know, you can blame it on Rodgers if you want, but it's not just
26:51Rodgers, you know, two different coaching staffs decided they didn't want this guy. That's that's real real bad.
26:57And you know, the Packers I think did not expect this to break the way it did with the charges happening right before the
27:05season, him going on the exempt list, like this is not the plan I think they would have put in place if this had all, you
27:13know, happened in June, you know? So, >> Yeah.
27:16>> I I'm not I'm not really interested in having Caleb Johnson definitely be on my roster all season, but in managed, if
27:22you just kind of want to take a peek at what's going on and Caleb Johnson has like some very a very thin path, but
27:28it's it's there to be to still be good.
27:31Uh I think in in a managed take a peek sort of capacity, I I'm I'm on board with you. Uh Davis sniped
27:38Jacob on him in in our Spite League and I think it's a fine pick. Like it was a hilarious pick.
27:44>> And I'm really glad Davis took it for that reason, but um yeah, I I also think it just kind of makes sense
27:51uh as like a a redraft play.
27:55>> Yeah. I will say on the Spite Draft, like I'm I'm doing a main event now and like rounds 15 through 20 are just so
28:02brutal that like I wish I had like side quests like spiting other people to like inspire me to make the pick. Um cuz you
28:11know what I mean? You get to the I'm just like whatever, take take Jason Myers. I I couldn't care less who I'm taking, but
28:19like if you I'm like, oh, if I take um Shaun Tucker and that's really going to piss off uh Davis for whatever reason,
28:25that it makes it so much more fun. So, that was a great >> a great addition.
28:29>> Well, did you did uh did you see it?
28:32>> I watched like the first 10 rounds, so I didn't see the Caleb Johnson part, yeah.
28:35>> Okay, so you but you saw enough. So, so >> I saw enough, yeah.
28:39>> Davis had been, you know, kind of besieged, you know, he he'd I'm sniping him I'm I'm sniping him from the 12-hole.
28:48Uh Pete's sniping him constantly from the eight. The nine took Terrance Ferguson who wasn't even He's just just someone in the draft,
28:57yeah. So, he's getting sniped by by people who aren't even, you know, on the screen. And uh and then so and then
29:05of course he chickened out on Parker 403 Parker Washington, which you know, fair enough cuz it is a main event team. You
29:12you do want it, you know, not to be a bad team and I I don't think Parker Washington going with the 403. So, you
29:18know, he took [laughter] Raheem Mostert instead, which is a much better pick, but you know, he hadn't taken he didn't take Terrance
29:24Ferguson uh allowing him to get sniped.
29:27So, he missed the chance to kind of make it what it was supposed to be, which was like draft the guys who we won't let you
29:31take all year.
29:33So, for him to turn around and just lay down the hammer on Jacob by sniping him and and grabbing Caleb Johnson was it
29:39was like a real redemption arc.
29:41>> [laughter] >> story, yeah, yeah.
29:44Yeah, I I saw that. I I was really hoping he was going to take Parker Parker Washington at at 403, but uh I don't know, we got a
29:51draft coming up tonight, so maybe he'll he'll try to force us to take him one more time.
29:55Um >> Well, that's that's a good point. So, I'm going to jump in a BBM here um cuz we've got 50 minutes until
30:03>> Oh, yeah.
30:03>> that draft over on the Ship Chasing channel.
30:07Um and so yeah, we'll we'll get in get in a draft here so we don't go over.
30:13>> Yep, let's do it.
30:15Um let's see. What else did I have on the list today?
30:20Um I guess I mean the chat the chat is kind of begging us to talk about the the Chuba um Brooks stuff.
30:28>> Oh, well, so I put him I put him on the the thumbnail because this the theme of the show was running back twos on the
30:34rise. So, pretty good news for the Panthers running back two. Uh do you want to talk about [laughter] Chuba Hubbard?
30:40>> I think you titled it even it was even more derogatory. It was like handcuffs on the rise.
30:45>> handcuffs.
30:47>> Chuba Hubbard the the classic hand and cuff.
30:50>> [laughter] >> Yeah, it's all that.
30:52No, that made me mad for sure.
30:54>> [laughter] >> Um >> It wasn't supposed to make you mad. I didn't know I made you mad. I wasn't >> You're not designing these to make me
31:02mad. That's definitely not what you're doing.
31:04Um yeah, I mean we we talked about this a lot. I think we see we see this situation very differently. Uh he wasn't
31:10named the team captain today. I wish I wish I believed that meant something. Um I don't think that means anything.
31:16>> Tyler Higbee was as well for uh >> Yeah.
31:19>> the Terrance Ferguson, if you're a Terrance Ferguson uh Chuba Hubbard guy then you're going to you're going to have to pick a lane on that one.
31:26>> [laughter] >> Yeah, exactly.
31:28I think the Venn diagram of the Chuba Hubbard Terrance Ferguson guys is honestly pretty pretty small.
31:33>> yeah. I don't think it's that small.
31:34>> on it, but there's not a lot of us.
31:36>> [laughter] >> It's like It's like a two three man group chat.
31:39>> Um >> [laughter] >> It's yeah.
31:45You you wouldn't know. Um it's not >> [laughter] >> It's like a really weird part of the slapsis that um you have to zoom in.
31:53It's It's like a different You know you can't visualize like um four dimensions, you know, it's like impossible for the human mind to under It's kind of like
32:01It's one of those things. Yeah.
32:03>> Got it. Got it.
32:04>> [laughter] >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. Imagine that clears it up. But I I am just like Yeah, we we clearly disagree on this. I
32:13I am just fully treating Chuba Hubbard as uh the starter on the Panthers. Um I think people like part of it one part
32:24of it that is a little under discussed is like it is talked about that Chuba Hubbard lost his job last year. Um
32:31he he had a calf injury. Rico Dowdle came in, outplayed him uh certainly for a good stretch of the season. Come the playoff
32:40game, D'Onta Foreman was not on the injury report. I know there's debate of whether he was banged up down the stretch. He was coming off some some
32:50huge workload games, but D'Onta Foreman not on the injury report in the playoff game, Chuba Hubbard handled 70% um of the rush
32:57attempts, um you know, got 20 PPR points in that game, got the goal line carry. So, I think it's just like a little over blown
33:05that like, oh, he would lose his job to anyone cuz he got injured, lost his job, regained the job. Um so, uh I'm going to go
33:14>> to go CD?
33:15>> Yeah. So, not to say that that like settles the entire debate, but I do think it it's a little bit of an unfair
33:24characterization of what last year was for Hubbard.
33:28And he's healthy in practice right now.
33:29>> It means he's vulnerable. He's clearly a vulnerable starter, even if you view him as a starter, which this I don't think
33:37that's clear from the way the summer's played out that he is the starter. I don't think it's that he's definitely not the starter,
33:44but >> Yeah.
33:45>> um Chase Brown and Jency at the top here.
33:50>> um >> Then Achane and Bowers.
33:54>> Let's do uh >> for me there.
33:57>> I'm going to go Chase Brown.
33:59>> Okay.
33:59>> um Yeah.
34:02Yeah, he he he's not like a locked-in starter, but he's also going at what pick? Uh what's his ADP on Underdog?
34:10>> going so cheap now. Yeah, I mean, he he is certainly a value like I've gotten some really crazy Chuba falls
34:17that I you know, I've been fun 101, but I mean, I've gotten him in the late >> Yeah, 150s, 120s, kind of Yeah.
34:24>> Yeah, he he goes so late. Um I mean, like he falls behind Kenneth Gainwell.
34:31Kenneth Gainwell definitely is not the starter.
34:34>> Yeah.
34:35>> You know, he might be like in a split.
34:37But there's he's not the starting running back for for the Bucks. Like no no one thinks that, right? Does anyone think that?
34:45>> Mhm.
34:47No, that's an even weirder um like intersection of people that uh >> I don't The Kenny Gainwell stuff I was a
34:54Kenny Gainwell like defender-ish in the sense that Jacob called him the worst pick on the board when he was like the
35:00one >> Yeah, that that radicalized me, too.
35:03Yeah, I agree with that.
35:04>> Yeah, but then he rose a lot. So, I now kind of I'm more team Jacob on that. Um but yeah, that did radicalize me for a
35:12minute.
35:13Uh Where's his ADP now? He's He's at 109, so he must have been even later.
35:18Wait, he must have been like the 130s when I >> Yeah, he rose. I think he rose when Bucky was >> Uh-huh.
35:25>> going through all this bad news cycle and then yeah, fell a little, but um Anyways, yeah, my money is just on um
35:35the guy who was the running back 12 in points per game two years ago, um was the starter when the season finished
35:44last year, is healthy and practicing now over the guy who has uh you know, six carries in two years, multiple ACL
35:53tears, not practicing now.
35:56That's just that's where my bet is. Especially with the especially with the price >> soreness and then the uh his girlfriend
36:03reportedly said is not it's not his knee. So so that was uh did you see that? Did you see Warfield Neil Orfield had that?
36:10>> Yeah.
36:10>> Beautiful, man. He called it an Orf bomb. I didn't know that's what we were going to call [laughter] those things.
36:15Congrats on the Orf bomb.
36:17Uh >> [snorts] >> Yeah, and then Jonathan Brooks actually replied to um a tweet himself. This was another Orf bomb. Uh let me let me see if I can see
36:26this.
36:27Uh Jonathan Brooks was replying to anonymous people on Twitter earlier today as well.
36:35Oh, yeah. Um someone quote tweeted uh this was a wasted pick on Dave Canales saying very optimistic that running back Jonathan Brooks will
36:45be available for week one. And then Jonathan Brooks replied with four of like the slanted crying laughing emojis saying God bless you, my boy. So
36:54another horrible that is another [laughter] horrible bomb there.
36:59>> God bless you, my boy.
37:01>> [laughter] >> Yeah.
37:04>> Guys, we're >> So >> we're in good shape.
37:07>> [laughter] >> Yeah, you have nothing to worry about when your sixth-round pick is is responding to anonymous people on Twitter, um you shouldn't be worried at
37:15all.
37:15>> Crying No, Sam, you was an emoji Twitter user know that that is very bullish. Don't I'm going to we're about to time out on
37:22flowers here, but >> Yeah, yeah, it's fine. Yeah, that's fine.
37:25>> Yeah, I would be a >> You know that that's a bullish reply.
37:29>> Yeah.
37:31Swift Okay, so we do have we're moving past with this the Swift thing. I'd say we pass.
37:36>> Yeah.
37:37Um like I said I'm streaming, so McConkey goes.
37:42Um >> Did Waddle go too?
37:44>> So Swift then Wilson I I would just I keep vetoing Wilson here for now.
37:47>> Yeah, yeah. Let's do Wilson.
37:49Um yeah.
37:54It's one of it's definitely one of the wide receivers.
37:56Yeah, Wilson um Leoni had some good a good thread today on it was like breaking down Geno Smith versus Justin Fields and like the
38:07percentage of time that the dropback leads to a pass attempt and like the efficiency per target between the two and he was like your base expectation
38:16should be that like a skill player in New York is like 40% more efficient with Gino rather than Justin Fields.
38:25>> Which I I think is a smart I I Yeah, I've been kind of like I I've like gone back and forth on Wilson. I can't
38:33really decide. I'm ultimately landing with him being like right at an 8% guy for me cuz I I kind of see both
38:41>> I'm going to end up similarly because >> Yeah.
38:44>> And it's not it's not even like I want to be in around on Wilson so much. Like I generally if you ask me like are you
38:49in around on Wilson, I would say in. But I would say the same thing about Ladd McConkey. Definitely the same thing
38:56about Jaylen Waddle.
38:57>> Yes.
38:57>> And definitely the same thing about T-Mac.
39:00And so and then also like the same thing about Burden who's tough to get. So like and then I don't want to have like 0% of
39:07Mbuoka although he at least is falling now.
39:10So they're not like overlapping as much.
39:13But then I also I want Etienne as well. I think he's a pretty good pick in the early fourth.
39:19Um if Breece Hall, you know, on DraftKings you get him in the fourth all day.
39:25And I'm I would take him over Garrett Wilson in the fourth. So it's it's really just about like too many guys for
39:31that range. Um but I do I think in a in a vacuum I I definitely want to be in on Wilson.
39:39>> Yeah.
39:40Yeah, it's a good range. I'm I'm with you. Like I Mbuoka's the guy that I'm lowest on there. But same experience as
39:46you. I don't know if it's the Q tag on DraftKings, but I've been finally getting Mbuoka now with all the the the
39:52toe worries. Like I'm getting him in the early fifth rounds um some on on DraftKings. So >> Took a long time, but yeah.
39:59>> Yeah. Cuz I was just never to I just thought like taking him Like I'm usually not an ideological drafter, but like taking him over T-Mac
40:07I just like ideologically couldn't couldn't do. That That That was too hard for me to to ever do.
40:14I get the situation in the box like has more theoretical upside than a situation in the Panthers, but like I was like man
40:21T-Mac such such a better prospect, such a better year one, does not have a toe injury. Like I was just like I'm I'm
40:29never doing that, but now now I don't have to. So I'm getting a little Abuka.
40:34>> Yeah, I mean when I sometimes I would be faced with that choice and I just like literally think about like myself a year
40:40ago and be like you're about to take mid fourth round T-Mac who is coming off a really strong rookie season and locked
40:49in as the number one on his team over Abuka who also is coming off a strong rookie season but is less locked in
40:57as the true number one on his team.
40:59>> Yeah.
41:00>> Why are you doing that? Take T-Mac. You know, like it's it was really tough for me.
41:06Um I mean and then Waddle Waddle has been so undervalued for for most of the summer. He's now finally you know that we we did it when
41:14we see a good discount we we have to alert everyone uh and can't can't can't can't just take the guy at
41:22410, right? Uh that's such such a such is life as a tout, but uh he we finally ruined that one. He's
41:29now you know at the 304 turn. So uh with that with that gone and Abuka falling I'm I'm seeing Abuka just a tad more, but I'm not taking him
41:38like non-stop or anything.
41:40Um >> I would have actually like to get I don't have much Evans. Uh I would have actually like to get him in there.
41:47>> fifth Evans is nice. I I do like that.
41:50>> Um uh Price I like a lot here. He's gone.
41:54Lamar um I like a lot. Man, Trayveon is really tough for me right now. So I think it's Lamar.
42:03>> Lamar is a jam. I I'd be happy to get Trayveon in round six here though.
42:09>> Did you see the the latest There was another like I think Tre Sermon's not practicing today.
42:16Um I mean, I I know it's week one, Bernie, but yeah, it's just I'm having a really hard time.
42:24Take I'm taking just Ramondre over him.
42:28Um What else is here?
42:32>> Tate's top here with then Tre Sermon, Ramondre, Warren. Uh sorry, yeah.
42:38Tyler Warren and then Jaylen Warren.
42:40>> Um it would it would be Ramondre for me.
42:44Okay.
42:45Yeah.
42:47>> It'd be Tre Sermon or Tate for me, but I'm fine with that.
42:51>> All right. I'll give you the give you the possession arrow for the next next couple.
42:56Um Yeah, man. I don't I don't know. I feel like Yeah, I don't need to have Let's Let's go to a different conversation, a
43:03conversation no one's talking about.
43:05This This is also maybe more of a DraftKings conversation, but I just had this thought. I'm like the Atlanta, Cleveland quarterback
43:11situations.
43:12Like, doesn't it just seem to you like so obvious what direction those are going in that like Shoulders >> Atlanta especially.
43:21>> Yeah, especially Atlanta.
43:23That I have been drafting a decent bit of Penix >> Me, too.
43:29>> and and less so Shoulders, but but more Penix. So, yeah, you're you're with me there. You think that's Sims Sims say
43:35that's a a good pick, super late DraftKings type of pick?
43:38>> Couldn't be more with you on Penix. Sims like Penix. Um I mean, I'm get I have some eliminator slows finishing up. I'm
43:45I'm seeing Penix on some of those even though, you know, we do expect Stills to uh to to play week one probably, but
43:55God, I mean, they they clearly wish Penix was healthy so they could just play Penix. And the second he is healthy, they're playing Penix.
44:03Like, Tua has lost the job to no one.
44:06They don't want Tua to be their starter.
44:08They've seen what Tua being their starter looks like and they're out on that. So, Penix Penix was pretty efficient last year and
44:15he was in a really weird situation. They were using him in the pistol a bunch and it was a ter- I mean, frankly, I've been
44:19kind of lower on the Bucks because of how poorly the the Zach Robinson offense was designed around its players. He's It's
44:27cool to have a system, but if you can't design around what your guys do well, that's that's a huge red flag to me and
44:33one that he triggered. Uh Zach Robinson, I mean, but Penix was still reasonably efficient in that offense and in an offense that doesn't really suit his
44:40skill set, uh you know, the way they had him operating the pistol and everything. So, that I think that he'll just be in much
44:48better situation. Uh but if he uh you know, I there's a chance he fails and then gets benched, but I think Tua,
45:00them having to like imagine and live with the idea that Tua is like probably their starting quarterback to begin the season and then
45:06like pretty publicly try to hit the abort button on that, I think the bar is actually a lot higher than I thought a month or two ago on
45:15what Penix can do as a starter, like how many bumps he can kind of ride out as the starter. I think I think they're
45:21going to let him you know, he's coming back from from a knee injury. It might It might be a little rusty. It might take him a little while
45:29to get going. I think I don't think he's getting pulled. Like I don't think there's like a a real short leash here with Penix either. So,
45:36he's definitely comes with some risk and is the type of like third quarterback play you want to be taking in the final
45:41rounds, but that's where he goes and I think he's a pretty good click there. Shedeur, I feel a little bit more
45:46nervous about. We can talk about that, but uh any other thoughts on on Penix in Atlanta?
45:52>> Yeah, I think it's all what you said and then it's like the opportunity cost here.
45:57Yeah, we make this pick here.
45:58I'm good with that whatever you want. I do like Dowdle at the top if that's what you want.
46:02>> and then Dak would be nice. This guy doesn't have a quarterback.
46:06Um I don't know that he would take Dak, but he could. He might take Herbert. I think we do a Dowdle and and
46:13assume he takes Herbert if he's going quarterback cuz he has Quentin Johnston and Ladd.
46:17>> Yeah.
46:19Oh, and yeah, Lloyd Yeah, I guess Lloyd is semi in the mix here, too, but um >> Sidekick also doesn't even have Dak at
46:26now at the top. We do have Lamar stacked with Flowers as well. I think it's cuz of the >> Yeah.
46:31>> We don't need it.
46:32>> Yeah. Okay.
46:35Yeah, we talked about this is a spot to take Lloyd. Um I think I'm with the the sidekick here.
46:41Um I think it's what I'd do.
46:44>> I know, let's do it.
46:46>> Yeah.
46:51>> Yeah, I think we have good stuff in for Lloyd. I It's the the Jacobs one I in some ways is harder to
46:57to figure out cuz you have you're taking on this huge zero risk. Um and trying to price that risk is difficult, but
47:05Lloyd is not I mean, he could suck and be a zero that way, but, you know, the downside is is more normal. It's It's
47:14about who is this guy? What does he do?
47:16You know? Yeah. And that's easier That's easier for us to price and I I do feel when I see Lloyd at the top of the
47:22sidekick, I I feel comfortable clicking him for sure.
47:25>> Yeah. Yeah, the only point I was going to have with Pennix is just like I think it's like a DraftKings maybe specific
47:30point, but I've had I find often times I actually get pushed into like two fairly early quarterbacks. Like not two elites,
47:39but like often times I have like Lamar and like Stafford or something like that. Or Jayden Daniels and Jordan Love. Like two fairly early picks
47:48at quarterback.
47:49And then I just like feel like it's kind of nice to be able to wait out the Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones, like that whole
47:56tier and still get good skill position players there and then get Penix completely for free, you know, when the opportunity cost is guys like Stephon
48:05Gilmore and whatever, like no nobodies.
48:10Actually like Gilmore, I don't know why I use that example, but the opportunity cost is just so so much lower in that like 19th, 20th round.
48:20>> Totally. And on Draft Kings, the the 19th and 20th round can get real real bad. Yeah. Yeah. So, having a a guy like that like I have
48:30some 555 shares with Penix from, you know, a couple months ago, 20th round, and you're just like, you know, he could be cuz I my read on
48:39the Penix stuff early was that he would not play.
48:43Um, but then, you know, you're betting on Tua to get benched over the course of the season.
48:49So, I didn't think like if you gave me, what are the odds that Penix plays like week three? I'm like, pretty low.
48:56But what about week 13? You know, I'm into that.
49:00And now I'm like, I think he's going to play week three and week 13.
49:02>> [laughter] >> Yeah.
49:04>> You know.
49:05So, I I think, you know, he's more of a priority, but um, I had a team the other day I drafted,
49:11you know, on the early part of the board and I I had something I might have had I had like Drake May and Purdy,
49:17something like that. And but I had Bijan and London.
49:22And so I took Penix in like the 19th round uh, as a quarterback three that I didn't strictly need, but I've got the Falcons
49:30stacked and, you know, get me through a pod, maybe even be the, you know, the blow up week 17 stack.
49:38I think it's I think it's pretty good, you know. Um, >> Yeah.
49:42>> I don't even think you need like he's gotten to the point where I'm like, I don't necessarily even doing this
49:46because I like need a quarterback. It's it's like I already kind of bet on the Falcons and he's such a better path for
49:52the Falcons to hit their upside than Tua.
49:54>> Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah. And then even even honestly sometimes I'm just like whatever, if I get like eight starts in like the middle of the season
50:04at quarterback at a Penix verse like the average 20th round receiver, I'm like that probably adds more points to my raw. You know what I mean? I'm just like
50:13I'll kind of I'll it's not the worst outcome if that's like the conception. Great.
50:19>> Yeah, conception would have been awesome.
50:21Uh Purdy unstacked popping up as a quarterback two, just guys probably going to score well. Uh Pittman Uh we already been on the Steelers
50:31with who? Someone.
50:33>> With Doudle. I'm good with Brock. I'm good with Brock.
50:36>> That's good. Yeah, Brock's >> Brock's >> With the Lamar Flowers stack, I feel like, you know, you're kind of it's more about building
50:44a good a good team that makes it then.
50:47>> Do we reach on I'm assuming you guys must be lower on Kittle, but we don't have a tight end here. It is stacked.
50:56>> We have to pick over Kittle in the >> Oh, you guys really have him buried.
51:00Okay. If you're really that low on Kittle, I'm fine with Pittman. Um >> Let's go Pittman.
51:05>> Okay.
51:06>> Yeah.
51:07>> What's your guys um >> So our doc So we have a newest article on the site. Really encourage people to
51:14check it out. It's It's the It's the type of article we literally like the timing of it was um like we we published this article now
51:23cuz we're like this is a lot this is good. This is like really good medical information that has informed what we've
51:29been doing all summer in the rankings and um so we we released it today or or late last night. Um
51:41and uh newest contributor for the site our trail doc our trail is going to be uh contributing some medical information and
51:51broke down some of the key injuries. He He also talked about Jonathan Brooks and kind of why the double ACL the second ACL tear of those kind of was
52:00kind of best case scenario as far as you know if you're going to re-tear it apparently was about as good as it could have gone.
52:09But then he also broke down uh the sit what what situation when he did >> Kittle Kittle
52:20>> Kittle Kittle sorry. He's He's actually I K being to to Kittle a little bit but uh what we have the reason that we don't
52:31get a ton of Kittle is because you're dealing with an older player coming off an Achilles tear not because like we don't think he was
52:38we don't think he's going to miss any time. You know he's clearly been playing he's actually been Archuleta's been actually pretty bullish on his return to play
52:45timeline. It's just the performance um the kind of like the base rate stuff's pretty concerning for Kittle.
52:56>> Yeah.
52:57>> And so that's where that's where the bearishness comes from but I would note that if you're kind of it's it's it's
53:05somewhat of like a personal risk tolerance thing because like it's hard to know exactly what he's going to look like coming back. He could be
53:13not himself. Like that is a a realistic possibility and pretty scary possibility um at this price but there's definitely still upside with Kittle
53:24and uh yeah it's just hard to it's hard to know how much of a freak he is as far as recovering back to what he was at like
53:3333 years old.
53:35>> Yeah.
53:36Um one yeah that makes sense. I mean I think like that I basically just like always blind faded players coming off Achilles tears,
53:46especially at running back. That seems to be the position I don't know if that could just be a small sample thing, but
53:51running back seems to be the position where the guys have had the worst um luck in terms of return to uh
53:59>> It's a position where you don't want to lose explosion, right?
54:01>> Yeah. Um the thing with Kittle that like I again, this is like so far out of my realm of expertise, but I don't know how
54:09much to care about the fact that Kittle's Achilles tear was like higher um than most Achilles tears.
54:17>> Yeah.
54:17>> Better blood flow.
54:19>> Yeah, and what I read is that like if the tear is lower, it requires like drilling into the heel to repair it and
54:27apparently Kittle's like didn't require that. It's like a slightly different type of surgery. Again, >> Right.
54:34>> I >> [snorts] >> Smaller sample on this surgery. No, you're right. So far everything you're saying is is backed up
54:40>> It's like Yeah.
54:41>> article.
54:42>> Yeah, so that's where I'm just like maybe it is maybe one tight end wide receiver is like a little bit easier to come back
54:52from than running back from this injury and maybe two this like we can treat this more like an ACL tear or something than
54:59an Achilles tear because it was like a cleaner variety. I don't know. This is totally me like simplifying complex stuff. Um
55:07but that's kind of how I've been thinking about Kittle. All right. Uh we should get tight end here probably.
55:12Um Jones I'm fine with. I take a lot of him. I'd probably go Kelsey at tight end if we're taking tight end.
55:20>> Okay.
55:22Let's go Jones and then we can definitely take Kelsey. Andrews is stacked.
55:26Um so it would be an option as well.
55:29And Kelsey goes.
55:30>> That's fine.
55:31>> I think I'd be stacked Andrews over Ferguson personally, even though the psychic goes the other way.
55:38>> That's fine. I'll do Andrews.
55:42>> Yeah.
55:43>> Andrews is just like so scared. He's like cooked, but then I look at the tight ends they brought in to back them
55:50up and I'm like, even if he's cooked, I think he's still on the field cuz like >> But this is kind of the range where I
55:55would take Kittle. Like I would take Kittle here where I'm like, well, Andrews, but he's probably cooked. I think because we last
56:04saw Kittle and he was not cooked, it's like harder to imagine him being cooked.
56:10But I think he might be cooked cuz he tore his Achilles.
56:13So that's where that, you know, >> Yeah.
56:16>> It's like you And I think with the sidekick, too, like you have a chance to grab Pittman as your wide receiver four and then still
56:22get a stacked tight end who might be washed, you know, two picks later.
56:28Um I think that's why we weren't really seeing Kittle there.
56:33>> Yeah.
56:35Yeah, I just think Yeah, I I guess it's just like putting how much weight you put into, you know, Kittle was still unbelievable
56:43last year and Andrews >> We still have him.
56:46With plenty of upside. Yeah, it's I think we just are a little bit more >> Yeah, yeah.
56:51>> tied to there being a low floor off this injury than >> Yeah.
56:55>> the market is at this point.
56:57Um which again, you know, I think even our own doctor said he's kind of willing to be like, yeah, sometimes [laughter] I want to Kittle,
57:05man.
57:07So I get I you know, it's like one of those things where if you're like, yeah, I'm going to be betting against
57:13the, you know, what players typically would look like off this injury, um because it's Kittle.
57:22I totally get that. Kittle's Kittle's a beast.
57:25>> Yeah.
57:28Um Kmet was another guy. He goes here.
57:31Do you have any takes on his injury? I've been very confused about how to handle that one um
57:42because of lack of information. Cur- curious if you have any like thoughts on or how you've handled that.
57:48>> We are we're not super concerned about Keaton. It's looked um and this is this is one uh wasn't in the
57:55article, but this is in form uh by what uh Harbaugh has said on this and uh yeah, I mean we're definitely
58:06we're optimistic on on Keaton Mitchell playing, you know, early in the year and potentially week one. So, we're not and and Keaton Mitchell is not a guy that
58:14we're taking a ton of beforehand, so getting a chance to to get a little bit more of him has been nice.
58:20I will say I'm taking personally when I have the chance to take Keaton Mitchell, I'm tempted to not and instead take Jonah Coleman.
58:30Uh who I also don't have a ton of uh and is not dealing with an injury and has had a really strong camp and looks
58:38like he'll have a some kind of role right away.
58:41But of course he'll be RB3 on his team, not the RB2.
58:44Uh but I think has like a little bit more of a clean path to just like as a player to being
58:50like a more traditional starting running back. If something were to happen to Dobbins, I think he would kind of neatly fit into like the early down guy
59:00there.
59:00Um in a way that's probably not true of Mitchell. Like I think Gus Edwards would probably be your kind of classic early
59:06down guy and then Mitchell's role would expand, but not like you know, be like the clear one would be my guess.
59:13>> Yeah.
59:14>> Um but yeah, I do I am getting some more Mitchell, but not hammering him as much as I otherwise would be if if Coleman wasn't
59:21like right there, too, and and I was under weight on him as well.
59:25>> Okay.
59:25>> We're on the clock.
59:27Dalton Schultz at the top of the kick here.
59:30Bosch [clears throat] and Hock.
59:33>> Schultz I would take Schultz.
59:34>> Yeah, I'll stick Schultz.
59:37>> The question I guess at tight end three, do we swing for the fences with a Terrance Ferguson? I wonder if he will
59:43come up at all.
59:45No, not at all. Okay.
59:48>> I think I would be Boston here. I think that's a pretty good pick.
59:53>> Yeah.
59:54>> Wide receiver five.
59:57Uh >> Yeah.
59:59Go with Boston.
59:59>> Looks like he's a starter out of the gate.
60:03Ferguson is one of those guys who like, yeah, I wish I had more when he was cheap. If you were taking him in the in
60:07the 18th round, kudos. That was a good pick.
60:11I don't think he's a very good pick now.
60:13Higbee was named a starter, you know, if we're we're doing the starter thing that we mentioned earlier. Uh yeah, not starter, captain.
60:19But maybe a starter, too.
60:21>> [laughter] >> Maybe I don't know.
60:23Yeah, I I just took Colby Parkinson in the 19th round of a main event. You also get to take a peek on him.
60:34Which is kind of fun. Like I looked at Colby Parkinson, this is also like tight end premium, so it's different, but I
60:39looked at Colby Parkinson's like game logs down the stretch last year and I was just like, oh yeah, he was like
60:45fully the Rams starting tight end. Like I think he was like ranked by most people tight end eight to 14 on a weekly
60:53basis.
60:55Big touchdown equity.
60:57And I was just like, Occam's razor is kind of just like he does that again. So I I do kind of like the upside of of
61:05Ferguson. I've been I've been mixing him, especially like in managed, I like him more cuz I see the downside more, but uh
61:11yeah, I'm I'm into Parkinson. I guess the last thing like I would be even more into Parkinson. I the Higbee thing is like
61:19annoying because I'm like, what if they split the Parkinson role between Higbee and Parkinson? And then it's just like everybody loses type of thing. That's
61:28that's like that's more of my fear with Parkinson than like Ferguson is going to steal the inline role cuz I don't think
61:33that's has any chance of happening, really.
61:37>> Yeah.
61:38I think it being a really gross committee is is like very likely.
61:44>> Very likely, yeah.
61:46>> But I think speaking of likely, I the the thing that got me like more onto Ferguson and we will like you do see
61:53Ferguson the superflex stuff is mostly finished up now, but in any slows you'll see him a little bit more there and then weekly
61:58winners, uh you know, uh I've got some slows of those going. I'm like T Ferg, top of the sidekick, what's going on? Oh, this is weekly winners.
62:07And I bet on the Rams. Like he does pop up and he pops up I think because we kind of have him now as
62:14the potential to be like what Isaiah likely was on the Ravens. And you know, good chance of that. Like that's that's
62:21definitely uh I think his path and it is an intriguing path for sure. I do I do worry about like how high the ceiling is
62:31if he's in kind of a split role slash, you know, part-time slot receiver role like you know, he's now moved up into a range
62:39where like you'd really like him to be a straight-up starter. And I don't think he really I don't think he really is or
62:45has much of it much the it's not impossible, but it would it would surprise me.
62:51>> Yeah.
62:52I see this question here. Um curious if you guys have any late wide receiver flyers that you're into at this point.
63:01Well, not not really. Uh there's no good players left um by the 15th round, but I I do still like Omar Cooper. Um
63:10I I've been taking a decent bit of Chris Bell.
63:15Um >> Chris Bell for sure. Yeah, I'm taking a lot of Chris Bell.
63:19Yep.
63:20Um the Super Bowl >> popping up first in the eliminator cuz he's probably going to have a role right out of the gate.
63:27>> Yeah.
63:27>> Yeah.
63:28>> Um Pat Ryan, I forgot if I mentioned him, if he's available.
63:32>> pick.
63:33>> I like him.
63:35Bateman I honestly liked a lot before the like domestic abuse thing. That actually has me a little spooked now about the downside. Um
63:44>> Yeah. Uh we're on the clock. Uh Travis Homer, Amari Cooper, Pat Bryant. You mentioned you like two of these guys and
63:49didn't mention Homer. So uh I'm down for who do you want here?
63:54>> I'd go Pat Bryant.
63:56And then we can we can probably take one of >> Yeah, that's fine. We can probably >> You're not dealing with P here. I don't
64:01have the nimble fingers.
64:02>> I'm fine with I'm fine with Cooper. I've I've so much of Cooper. Um >> Pat Bryant goes, so I'll do it first.
64:10>> Yeah.
64:11>> That's fine. Uh >> Then we got K'naan Slovis and Kade Otton. I mean, if you you mentioned one of the swing for the fences at the
64:17third round, you could go Slovis.
64:19>> Let's go Slovis. Let's go Slovis.
64:21>> Certainly a higher a bigger swing than Otton. I'll I'll give you that.
64:24>> Yep.
64:25>> Uh All right.
64:27So one of these first round rookies for the Jets is hitting. Oh, and we also have Garrett Wilson. So hopefully not
64:32too hard actually.
64:34>> [laughter] >> I'm actually hoping I'm hoping both those guys bust actually.
64:38>> Yeah, they But if they don't, we we this team is hedged. You want to hedge in the Best Ball Mania format.
64:43>> Yeah.
64:43>> Yeah.
64:44>> I mean, I know you have like >> on the Jets more than is comfortable is really what it is.
64:48>> Yeah, that's fine.
64:50Um nothing's ever gone wrong from going overboard on the Jets, I don't think.
64:57>> Never once.
64:57>> Um Yeah, we got we got the Jets. We got the got the Browns on this team. Just all the Steelers, all the high-flying
65:07offenses that you want to target this year.
65:10Um Yeah, do you have anyone else on the on the late wide receivers that you're into at this point?
65:19>> It's best ball. I don't have to predict it week to week. I'm still taking Travis Hunter. I literally just I went quote
65:24digging, report digging the other day and it's like you know, Rich Eisen's like, "So, he's definitely not playing offense, right?"
65:32And he's like uh Liam Coen's like "No, he is. I would pump the brakes on that." So, you know We've talked about that one a million
65:42times, but just, you know, since this is the last episode, I am I'm going out on I still take Travis Hunter and I will
65:49continue to take him. He went 180 here.
65:51We passed on him. He goes 180.
65:54Uh I think he can pay off in the 180 ADP uh in best ball when I don't need to predict which weeks. He's got uh you
66:02know, some scheme stuff that works.
66:04Uh but yeah, so so he still remains part of the flyer um group for me, but Chris Bell uh Amari Mitchell
66:13uh Omar Cooper certainly. Pat Bryant I agree with. Um Ted Hurst. Ted Hurst is a big one for me lately. Someone I'm trying to get a lot
66:20more of even than I had and I'm already in the 20s on him, but he's he's looked like like a great camp. Uh
66:28Jason Light was was mentioning like we kind of took him thinking he's behind a really solid group. He can learn and
66:35he's going to have a role for us this year.
66:37So he's definitely someone uh I think is is a great, you know, 16th, 17th, even 18th round pick still.
66:45Uh it's not like he's rocketing up. But uh yeah, I I I want to make sure I'm getting him in my
66:52final drafts for sure.
66:54>> Mhm. [clears throat] Yeah.
66:57Then another one like I see Valay has gone here. I've been doing this thing that on DraftKings where like Tyson is
67:05crazy cheap on DraftKings. He goes at like pick 140. And then every time I take Tyson, I just I reach like six spots on
67:13Valdes and it just feels like the best way to like advance. I mean, obviously like Donovan Valdes is not going to be a huge game
67:21changer, but I feel like it is a is a nice offset of like getting someone who is explicitly early season to cover for
67:28Tyson who's going to be late season.
67:30Um Valdes' role was like weirdly strong.
67:32It was a small sample last year. Um like when he was healthy and Shaheed was gone.
67:37They have no The rest of their wide receivers are like so bad. So, yeah, if you're if you're specifically looking for that like early season profile, I I
67:46have been taking some Valdes.
67:48>> Yeah, I agree with you. He's He's a utility sort of thing. Yeah, like do you need Valdes? But if you do, I think he's
67:55useful.
67:57Uh and yeah, I do think he's They talked about him early in the off season as being someone that uh they they probably didn't use enough
68:04last year.
68:05Um >> Yeah.
68:06We have so many receivers on this team, it's probably a Ridley.
68:10>> Ridley, yeah. Yeah. Ridley is a classic chaperone, but we've got Cooper, Boston, uh and then Saadiq at at tight end. So,
68:20yeah, I think he makes sense for the team. And then another rookie popping up to close it out, Zach Kuntz. I Branch. I haven't
68:26taken a ton of Branch, but with Penix, I've actually been thinking this team might be more fun than I thought they'd be. So,
68:33um >> Yeah, I've been taking some Branch. I'm good with him here.
68:36>> Okay, cool.
68:38>> Yeah, I think we don't need the At one point I was like, oh, this is a four tight end team, but I think like
68:44Schultz provides enough floor >> stability. Yeah, for sure.
68:49>> Um Nice.
68:53Yeah, this is a It's an interesting team. It's really Yeah, really huge punt punt tight end team. Um some big swings at running back with
69:01with Lloyd.
69:03That'll be interesting. Uh um Um lot of rookie wide receivers late.
69:08It's uh yeah, it's a pretty fun team.
69:11>> Yeah, the Jackson Flowers stack gives it really nice weekly upside. And then you know, I think it's it's a team
69:19that's like probably a a little more toward boomer than I typically build, but it also it does have upside as well. So, you have
69:28Stevenson, Daudell, Chase Brown, Aaron Jones, and kind of even Lloyd to an extent as we were laughing about earlier that he's
69:36like sort of like you know, eat your vegetables with Marshawn Lloyd, a guy who's never played football.
69:41>> [laughter] >> But you know, and then you got Mark Andrews, Dalton Schultz. Mark Andrews is so washed I didn't even include him when I
69:49mentioned the stack earlier cuz obviously he can't spike for anything meaningful. But, you know, he can kind of help you churn out some points late
69:56at the position. But then you do have rookies with Sadeeq, Cooper, Branch, um and Boston that could be spiking for you. And then
70:06yeah, I mean, guys who get a lot of volume at running back can also score points. So, uh you know, in week week 17. Uh Yeah,
70:14you'd be surprised to learn, but it's true. Plus CD Lamb kicking it off. So, yeah, I think it's a it's kind of a fun
70:19team. I mean, the the Jets we got three Jets. Makes you a little nervous. We got We We We made sure to tackle on a Titan and a
70:28Falcon.
70:29>> [laughter] >> Two teams already.
70:33So focused on the best offenses in the league, but yeah.
70:37>> Oh, someone followed our advice and took uh Penix.
70:41Penix here.
70:43>> Nice.
70:43>> Did some And oh, Roschon Roschon went.
70:45That's interesting.
70:46>> Whoa.
70:47>> Um 17th round.
70:49>> only 17th round Roschon.
70:52>> My god.
70:54Well, you know.
70:57>> Any other players that you're trying to get uh here to close out?
71:02>> Um, who am I trying to get? Oh, Emitt Emitt Johnson has been >> That's why I I was literally just I
71:07clicked over to my slow drafts cuz I'm in in a certain amount of slow drafts.
71:129 minutes left in a weekly winner slow draft, which seems at this point a bad choice to have entered. Uh, now that I'm at 1-hour
71:19clocks and took Emitt Johnson.
71:22>> Yep.
71:23Emitt Johnson, I think he's he's a great pick. Clear running back two, I think.
71:28Profiles is a guy he's maybe like a little in the Devin Singletary mold of someone who like doesn't do anything amazing, but does like everything okay.
71:38Like early season Devin Singletary, not this version of him. Early career. Um, so I think he's a guy that like could
71:44absorb a lot of touches if the starter goes out and maybe has some kind of um role to start the season. Who knows?
71:53Uh, so yeah, I really like him.
71:55Um, Kylin Black similarish ish reasons. I like him a lot. I think he's a pretty clear running back two in San Francisco.
72:06I think um Yeah, stood out to me just in the preseason as someone that like I you know, people who watched the film said
72:13he looked good in pass protection. Just seems kind of like reliable for San Francisco there. I think that will matter in the event of a McCaffrey
72:19injury.
72:21Um, trying to think who else I've been going after late.
72:27Um Yeah, I think that's it. That's those are the main ones. Um, anything else for you?
72:36>> Uh, Tyson. Tyson's a big one now that he's fallen finally to to ranges where you are seeing a lot of the risk baked
72:44in.
72:45Um Coleman I mentioned earlier is someone I'm trying to get a lot of, but you know, I see in my slow drafts, you know, I've got my
72:54exposure on him at like 1 2% and when those finish up, it's going to be quite a bit higher.
73:02Um I'll still probably be under weight, but I I think I'll probably finish in the 5 6% range on him cuz I am taking quite a
73:08bit of him.
73:09Uh you know, in the in these slow drafts to close out. Uh Tyson similarly, you can get him, you know, in the 1
73:17130s, 140s, 150s sometimes depending on the format and I think he's uh he's a pretty damn good clock at that point. Uh obviously re-injury risk, but
73:27ton of upside if he is able to finish out the season healthy after they're they're sitting him down and that's their hope, right? Like what
73:33our our interests and their interests are now aligned of like, hey, what if you just nuke down the stretch after missing half the
73:40season, which is exactly what he's priced like that's the win condition at his price exactly. And that is seems to be the Saints plan now. Obviously, if he
73:49re-injures the hamstring, they might just shut him down for the whole year or so.
73:53A risky one, but a but a one I am uh diving in on it at the the current price as long as he falls far enough.
73:59Um he's he's a pretty big one for me.
74:02>> I just checked. I've done uh just 15 drafts on on DraftKings basically all in the last week or something. I have 40% Tyson and
74:12also 40% DeVon Achane, so uh I think the overlap of that is also pretty high.
74:18So yeah, I'm I'm with you. He's even cheaper cheaper on DraftKings. Uh Tyson, so yeah, I've had I think I even had one
74:25like I had one Tyson and Jacobs team where I got like Jacobs at 130-ish, Tyson at 140-ish and I was like
74:34I don't think this is too far in terms of backloading. As long as I take like the Achane's, like my running backs were solid up to that
74:41point. I had a couple like clear starters. I was like, I think this is okay. Obviously, it's a it's a risk on
74:48um couple of picks, but I think it can work out.
74:53>> Yeah, I hear you.
74:55Um and Chris Bell, I just reiterate like I you know with Travis Hunter I am at least saying like, "Hey, is
75:02there another guy here that's harder to get than Hunter?" And Bell has been the dude where I'm like, "His ADP is a little
75:08fake to me." Where he's he's been moving up so much that I'll take Bell and then try to get Cooper or
75:15or Hunter a little later.
75:18Um and I often do. I often do. Those guys Those guys tend to be falling, so um yeah. I think I think the Chris Bell
75:25recovery has just been been wild. Uh yeah.
75:29>> Yeah.
75:30>> So >> Yeah, it's it's awesome awesome to see.
75:32I I mean, yeah, like I with him I was betting on him for a while cuz I I But in my mind it was like, "Oh, his
75:38timeline sets him to come back in like week three or week four."
75:43Um if you just look at like the average nine-month return or whatever. But the fact that it was week one is a huge
75:48surprise. And I think just like the fact he was able to play preseason, like get some practices in, like that's huge to
75:54like being trusted when you go on a real football field, so.
75:59>> That's great. I see a question, Jacob Saylors draftable. I I haven't found any angle to play Detroit running back to
76:07redraft or >> I think they're going to sign somebody >> Yeah.
76:12>> something.
76:13If they If it probably not This isn't definite cuz maybe Saylors is like kind of good, I don't know.
76:20But I bet if Gibbs went down, they'd they'd trade for someone or sign someone or You know what I mean? Like they might
76:26and I My guess is they probably bring in somebody soonish.
76:33Seems kind of nuts that he's their backup.
76:36>> It is nuts. I mean, I I There was like a list of names of like potential I'd had of Seu Vaki and then it was like Sailors
76:43who I'd never heard of and then some other guy who I'd never heard of who's on the roster now, so Yeah. Um
76:52Anyways, that you know, that feels feels like a pretty fair way to wrap up That's Fair talking about Jacob Saylors. Um
76:59>> I literally nothing could be more on brand unless you had a a slide with a mystery Tee Higgins versus Jacob
77:05Saylors. That's the only way we could have done it better.
77:09Uh let's wrap up the team here, the final That's Fair team of the summer.
77:13Uh a BBM draft here to close things out.
77:17Uh Lamar Jackson and Brock Purdy at quarterback. Jackson we stacked up, Purdy we ultimately didn't. We have Chase Brown, Rhamondre Stevenson, Rico
77:25Dowdle, MarShawn Lloyd, and Aaron Jones at running back. CeeDee Lamb, Zay Flowers, Garrett Wilson, Michael Pittman, Denzel Boston, Omar Cooper, Calvin Ridley, and Zach Charbonnet
77:36Branch at receiver. And then Mark Andrews, Dalton Schultz, and Kylen Granson at tight end. at tight end. Sam, how would you characterize this team if
77:46you just kind of had to pick a random phrase.
77:52>> That seems fair.
77:54>> All right.
77:55>> [laughter] >> Thanks everyone for watching. We will be back where it all started on ADP chasing the OG crew uh in just a few minutes
78:03here. The this stream will redirect over to ship chasing. We're going to be drafting a main event, me, Sam, Davis Mattek. Uh we're going to jump in, put
78:11our heads together for like 3 minutes before this draft goes live. Uh and then please join us. It's going to be an
78:16awesome one. Uh thanks for watching.
78:19Thanks for watching all summer for for That's Fair. Uh we we have some, you know, some best ball teams to sweat at a very minimum.
78:26>> Yeah.
78:26>> Uh yeah, but we're about to have a main event team to sweat as well.
78:29>> Yeah, I just want to say yeah, thanks for having me on. It's been really fun doing this all summer. I think we've
78:35we've built some some fun teams. I think you forced me to take some players I wouldn't normally take. I think a couple
78:41times I got one over in the sidekick and forced you to drop someone you didn't want to take, but I think
78:48hopefully it works out in the end.
78:52>> [laughter] >> You're going to you're going to be happy with the Ramondre over Trey Sermon.
78:58You'll be you'll be Venmoing me for that one you know in week 10.
79:03>> Hopefully I'm Venmoing you a lot.
79:04>> Hopefully Venmo is like that's too much to Venmo, dude.
79:08Yeah. No, it'll be what's the first round $37 for advancing out of round one? Yeah, you'll be you'll be sending me 18 bucks.
79:14>> Us winning separately and then winning together would probably break Twitter.
79:18I'm not sure Twitter can handle that. So >> I mean Underdog Underdog couldn't I think Underdog would would fold. There there would be
79:28I mean >> Underdog had some ominous announcement a few minutes ago so we'll see what that one is.
79:33>> [laughter] >> Well, you know what was ominous was the fact that I I declared fix your site to Underdog on Twitter and
79:39>> And they did.
79:40>> And they did. That was a bad that was a bad sign.
79:42>> Nothing is pretty bearish. Fix your site. [laughter] Thanks.
79:50>> Like I thought I was doing a joke. I didn't think your site was actually broken.
79:54But it it was broken. So glad you fixed it I guess. Um but >> [laughter] >> All right.
80:04>> That's fair. All right.
80:04>> I'll see you see everyone in a couple minutes.
80:07>> Later.
