A.J. Brown

PositiveInjury0:05

There is concern about AJ Brown's knee health and whether he is damaged goods following his trade from Philadelphia, though Waldman believes the Eagles' narrative about the injury may be exaggerated.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:06

Matt Waldman projects AJ Brown's floor at approximately 120 targets, close to 80 receptions, and a little over 1,000 yards with 7-10 touchdowns in New England, which he considers still good enough for wide receiver one consideration.

Insight page
PositiveUsage0:07

AJ Brown has 15 receptions of 50+ yards since the start of 2019, tied for most in the NFL, demonstrating elite big-play ability.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:10

Was a slot receiver at Mississippi and a good one; could switch inside/outside with Jalen Coker in the Patriots offense.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:10

AJ Brown was a slot receiver at Mississippi and a strong one, which could allow him to flex between slot and outside receiver roles in New England alongside other receivers.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:11

Has been climbing up inside the top 10 in projections and ADP will likely follow based on the steam of the offense, the quarterback, and recent news.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:12

If drafted cheaper early in best ball formats, drafters should feel good about the value as the price will likely rise soon.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:28

AJ Brown carried gravity in the Eagles offense even when not targeted, and his departure creates uncertainty about how the offense will function without his presence.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

NegativeProjection0:38

Brian Thomas Jr. will improve enough but not enough because of Trevor Lawrence, as the QB's accuracy issues limit his upside despite extra reps together.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:38

Brian Thomas Jr. will improve enough but not enough because of Trevor Lawrence's inconsistency, as the quarterback has shown errant throws and poor chemistry with Thomas on vertical routes.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:39

Brian Thomas Jr. is a good vertical receiver whose rookie success was limited by Trevor Lawrence's errant throws and poor chemistry on vertical routes, leading the Jaguars to add other receivers like Jacoby Meyers and Parker Washington mid-season.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:39

Brian Thomas is being phased into a third receiver role behind Jacobe Meyers and Parker Washington, with the Jaguars prioritizing short and intermediate pass catchers over vertical threats.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:40

Brian Thomas averaged 6.2 targets and under 10 points per game in 14 games with Trevor Lawrence last year, dropping to under 9 points per game over the final eight games as Meyers and Washington emerged.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:41

Brian Thomas was wide receiver two overall only in his final six games with Marcus Jones, not with Trevor Lawrence, making expectations for a WR2 finish with Lawrence unrealistic.

Insight page

Bryce Young

PositiveProjection0:49

Bryce Young has been hanging in there with some inspired moments, suggesting the Panthers' quarterback situation may stabilize if he continues to show improvement.

Insight page

Chris Godwin

PositiveValue0:20

Godwin is a bargain at wide receiver 40 and is looking very good in camp; despite past injury concerns, he should be ready to perform as the number two receiver in the Buccaneers offense.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:21

Godwin will likely lead the Buccaneers in receptions and be more efficient than Mike Evans due to increased slot usage, with a projected 8 touchdowns.

Insight page

Chris Rodriguez

NegativeUsage0:16

Rodriguez is mysteriously absent from OTAs and is not working out well in best ball formats, which is something to watch as he competes with Tutin for carries.

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

NegativeProjection0:47

Waldman believes Hubbard's best days are probably behind him already despite receiving an extension, and he has concerns about his durability given his age and recent missed games.

Insight page

Courtland Sutton

PositiveValue0:31

Sutton was wide receiver 14 last year and wide receiver 11 the year before, but is being drafted as wide receiver 35 this year—the analyst plans to have a ton of him and doesn't expect him to fall that far.

Insight page

Cyrus Allen

PositiveRole0:24

Allen is a potential replacement option for Rasheed Rice in the screen role if needed.

Insight page

Daniel Jones

NegativeProjection0:37

Daniel Jones' 2024 season may have been a one-year wonder in a heavily schemed Colts offense, with concerns that the scheme will be found out and his success may not be sustainable.

Insight page

Demario Douglas

PositiveRole0:10

DeMario Douglas is mentioned as the current slot receiver for the Patriots, with Waldman suggesting Kaylen Boote could be an upgrade over him in that role.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:10

Currently the slot receiver in the Patriots offense; Jalen Coker could potentially be an upgrade over him.

Insight page

DeVonta Smith

PositiveProjection0:28

DeVonta Smith has high expectations as a potential monster wide receiver one in the Eagles offense, though it remains to be seen if he can be the player everyone believes without AJ Brown in the mix.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:29

Devonte Smith's ability to be the player everyone believes he is without AJ Brown in the mix is now in question, as people had talked themselves into him becoming a monster wide receiver one in the Eagles offense.

Insight page

Jalen Coker

PositiveRole0:09

Could be an upgrade to DeMario Douglas as a big slot receiver who could deliver big plays with teams occupied with the outside receivers, and could switch inside/outside with AJ Brown.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:11

Could wind up going to a team where he becomes a pretty good starter and maybe even better than Romeo Dobbs has to offer.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:12

Not currently projected or ranked pending clarity on his role and situation.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:12

Going as wide receiver 69 at 184th pick overall; Grank approves of that ADP.

Insight page

Jalen McMillan

PositiveRole0:22

McMillan will be fourth in the Buccaneers receiving hierarchy, fitting best in the slot where Godwin will spend most of his time.

Insight page

Jalen Royals

PositiveRole0:23

Royals is a viable replacement for Rasheed Rice with the additional first-team reps he's receiving; he had better hands than Rice coming out of school and is a skilled player after the catch.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:24

Royals had better hands than Rashee Rice on similar looks and is a skilled player after the catch, positioning him well to fill Rice's role.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveProjection0:30

Waddle is projected for 201 fantasy points in Denver and will be more efficient on a yardage standpoint than Courtland Sutton, though Sutton will lead in targets and receptions.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:30

Waddle could easily become the top option in Denver's offense, with the analyst feeling positive about his role despite being moved around more often.

Insight page

Jonathon Brooks

PositiveBreakout0:47

Jonathan Brooks is viewed as the true future at running back in Carolina and could form a RB1/RB3 combo with Trevor Etienne if the team solidifies their offensive line and quarterback situation.

Insight page

Jordan Addison

NegativeProjection0:43

Jordan Addison is the biggest loser in Minnesota's offense with Kyler Murray, likely becoming a distant third receiver if Murray's pattern from Arizona repeats.

Insight page

Julian Hill

PositiveRole0:13

Signed by Patriots for a fair amount of money but expected to be more of a blocker with low target volume in the low teens.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

PositiveProjection0:44

Mike McDaniel's footwork adjustments for Herbert are scheme-oriented to emphasize quick passing and play-action, which should help Herbert avoid the problematic intermediate range where he has struggled historically.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:47

Herbert's processing ability is good but not great—he makes 1-2 poor decisions per week despite being a beautiful thrower, which limits his ceiling as a top-tier processor like Brock Purdy or Tom Brady.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

PositiveProjection0:43

Justin Jefferson is the best bet to be the most peppered target option in Minnesota with Kyler Murray, but if they aren't on the same page, he could demand a trade.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

NegativeProjection0:41

Kyler Murray has not produced multiple fantasy starters in his passing offense in his entire career, and the analyst is "f--k it" on the Vikings having more than one fantasy starter with him until proven otherwise.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:42

Kyler Murray does not stay in the pocket to find efficient solutions, unlike other short QBs like Drew Brees and Russell Wilson, limiting his ability to support multiple fantasy-relevant receivers.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:43

Waldman sees Kyler Murray as a potential competitive stopgap starter for the Vikings if he improves pocket efficiency and shows strong target distribution across multiple receivers in the first 2-3 games.

Insight page

Mike Evans

PositiveProjection0:21

Evans will likely be better than Godwin in yardage and target share departments, though Godwin will lead in receptions.

Insight page

Parker Washington

PositiveRole0:39

Parker Washington is part of Jacksonville's new receiving strategy as a primary short and intermediate route option, forming a two-punch with Jacobe Meyers.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeInjury0:23

Rice is currently dealing with legal issues and is in jail, though he is getting rehab on his surgically repaired knee.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:24

Rashee Rice is projected to have northward of 1,200 yards in the Chiefs offense as the true running back in a passing offense that uses short throws as an extension of the run game.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:25

The Chiefs are likely tired of Rashee Rice's off-field antics and probably won't extend him, instead running him into the ground to maximize value while they have him.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:31

Rashee Rice's contract situation and off-field issues will likely limit his role, with the analyst expecting Worthy to get half of what Rice is projected for.

Insight page

Romeo Doubs

PositiveValue0:12

Going as wide receiver 49, the second wide receiver off the board at 115th pick overall.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

PositiveProjection0:25

Saquon Barkley is expected to have a strong rebound year in Sean McVay's offense, with a Todd Gurley-style season as a strong possibility.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:26

When Saquon Barkley doesn't have a good feel for how a play is supposed to develop, he tries to out-athlete people rather than making quick, well-managed decisions based on vision.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:27

Saquon Barkley has historically been a better gap player than a zone player, though outside zone has been a good bridge for gap players learning zone schemes.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:27

Analyst projects Saquon Barkley for approximately 1,500 yards from scrimmage this season, not expecting a full 2,000-yard rebound but open to raising the receiving projection if he reaches 50-60 receptions as the Eagles are discussing.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:29

Barkley has been top 10 in fantasy points in three of his 16-game seasons, with last season being an outlier at 15th, which was not a terrible outcome.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:29

Saquon Barkley has been a top-10 fantasy back in 16-game seasons three times, with last season's 15th-place finish being an outlier, suggesting strong historical consistency.

Insight page

T.J. Hockenson

PositiveProjection0:43

If Kyler Murray's pattern from Arizona repeats with Minnesota, T.J. Hockenson could have a renaissance as the peppered target option, similar to Trey McBride's role.

Insight page

Ted Hurst

PositiveProjection0:22

Hurst is an exciting player who will likely get north of 50 targets but may be a distant number three in the Buccaneers offense behind Godwin and Evans.

Insight page

Tez Johnson

PositiveSleeper0:22

Johnson is one of the most underrated young slot players in the league and is a dynamic, smart football player who could be a breakout candidate if injuries occur.

Insight page

Todd Gurley

PositiveProjection0:26

Todd Gurley's 2018 season (1,250 rushing yards, 17 rushing TDs, 580 receiving yards, 4 receiving TDs for 21 total TDs) is used as a comparable model for what Saquon Barkley might achieve in McVay's offense.

Insight page

Travis Hunter

PositiveRole0:39

Travis Hunter's role as a deep receiving option may be reduced as Jacksonville prioritizes short and intermediate pass catchers, with more cornerback snaps expected.

Insight page

Trayvon Henderson

PositiveValue0:17

Henderson is projected at running back 21 in current draft ADP, down from running back 18 last year, with a closer price to Rondre Stevenson (running back 29) than last season.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:18

Henderson is projected to have an edge in touchdowns and rushing yardage over Stevenson, but trails in receptions, receiving yardage, and receiving touchdowns, with Football Guy's projections showing Henderson at running back 26 and Stevenson at running back 28.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:18

Henderson needs to improve his route running, understanding coverage nuances, and quarterback rapport compared to Stevenson, and still needs to get better at creating something from nothing when plays break down and there's interior penetration.

Insight page

Trevor Etienne

PositiveSleeper0:48

Etienne flashed in limited time as a capable scatback and receiver, and could be a cheap Dynasty pickup as a future complement to Jonathan Brooks if the Panthers rebuild successfully.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

NegativeProjection0:39

Trevor Lawrence's inconsistency and errant throws limit Brian Thomas Jr.'s upside, making the quarterback the primary constraint on Thomas' fantasy production rather than the receiver's talent.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:39

Trevor Lawrence has shown errant throws and poor chemistry with Brian Thomas in the vertical game, limiting the upside of Jacksonville's passing offense.

Insight page

Trey McBride

PositiveUsage0:42

Trey McBride revealed that Kyler Murray would skip his first read and pepper the tight end with targets instead of distributing the ball efficiently across the offense.

Insight page

Tyler Warren

PositiveProjection0:34

Tyler Warren is going into the fifth round as a wide receiver in early 2025 drafts (14th pick overall), benefiting from vacated targets in the Colts offense.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:35

Tyler Warren functions as a wide receiver in the Colts offense despite being classified as a tight end by defenses, similar to Ricky Rice, with less traffic due to Jonathan Taylor's dominance and the strong offensive line creating wide-open space.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:35

Tyler Warren is working to improve his route breaks and efficiency this offseason, addressing a key area of development in his game that was previously limited to zone coverage situations.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:36

Tyler Warren will likely be the second or third most targeted player in the Colts passing offense and maintain a massive role despite needing route-running improvements.

Insight page
NegativeBust0:36

Without another compelling receiver outside of Alec Pierce, Tyler Warren could get shut down more often as teams study film and understand the Colts offense better, as evidenced by the Steelers' defensive approach.

Insight page

Xavier Worthy

PositiveBreakout0:31

At age 23, Xavier Worthy still has time to become a top 20 fantasy wide receiver for the Chiefs, and the analyst recommends staying patient with him in dynasty leagues.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:31

Worthy will be the second most targeted wide receiver on the Chiefs and the third option in the offense, projected for just under 700 yards.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:33

Worthy will outperform Taekquin Thornton, who is getting buzz in camp for his deep ability.

0:00Good morning, Matt Walman. Here we are, second week of June. OTAAS are ongoing.
0:06Phase three of your offseason uh t organized team activities, excuse me. Uh mandatory mini camps coming. So, there's tons of little tidbits, headlines, drum
0:16beats are starting, all kinds of stuff going on.
0:18>> Is phase one where they take a picture of everybody at the seminar and then all the footwork people start commenting on
0:24the the the position of their feet and how it impacts ankle injuries? I believe that is that is official the official
0:31description of phase one. Phase three is uh a mixture of seven seven and full team drills, no contact at all. Uh
0:39mandatory mini camps will come, >> probably start up some this week, I'm guessing, but over the next couple weeks, you'll hear the mandatory mini
0:45camps. A lot of guys have not been showing up for voluntary workouts because guess what? They're voluntary.
0:49Matt and I are here voluntarily.
0:52However, there will be maybe a little contact, most of it with you, dear listener. I'm Bob Harris. He's Matt Wman. This is feel it or [ __ ] it. Matt,
0:59tell us what's going on at Rookie Scouting Portfolio before we dive into the frey.
1:03>> Well, unlike the NFL who's drinking seven and seven, I'm not drinking any seven and seven, but I am busy. Yeah,
1:09I'm busy working on projections um and ranking dynasty rankings. The rankings are done. The projections are done. The
1:16commentary for all but the um win now um section for the linear rankings are done. So, I will be done tonight and
1:27have it sent out no later than tomorrow.
1:29Um, cuz the comments are going to be pretty I comment for pretty much >> long build and and win now as the same
1:37commentary. I'm just putting it in a different order. So, I'm going to do all that. It'll be done tomorrow. sent out
1:43um my email to those of you who have subscribed and you'll get a short paragraph that will tell you, hey, if
1:53you skim this and you email me and you couldn't get in, you owe me a beer and a meal. And so far, I think Bob and I
2:03together could probably last a couple weeks around the country right now until at least I misspell something and [ __ ]
2:09it up myself and then I have to pay you guys back. But yeah, I mean it's a short paragraph. It'll give you a link so that
2:16you can go to the site where you're going to download it the update and then it'll give you a password that you just
2:22should copy and paste. And it's pretty simple, but occasionally we all have our dumbass moments. Trust me, I have mine.
2:30Um, so if you do, I will be patient with you. though I will joke with you that that uh you know meal and beer and we'll
2:38see what kind of meal and beer based on the kind of kind of screw up you have.
2:42But you know I'll get back with you usually within 24 hours. If you purchase the the um draft um the the rankings and
2:51the projections after it's been sent out, then I usually wait every 24 hours to send these things out in batches, the
2:59emails out in batches, so that I don't have to do it throughout the day. Um but yeah, you're going to get that probably
3:06tomorrow morning in your inbox. $24.95 if you're new to it or if you need to renew. This will be your last one. if
3:13you need to renew, it'll be your first one if you're if you're um subscribing for 2026. And that's really what's going
3:21on here, >> right? So, if you just stumbled across this pod and you got past the whole feeler [ __ ] descriptor and said,
3:26"Well, I'll stick around." Besides that, um [laughter] um Matt is the author of the Rookie Scouting Portfolio. Just in general, if
3:34you've never heard of this thing, go check it out. is the most definitive and and certainly the most uh complete uh
3:42rookie guide uh known to man. Uh great work as always has been doing this 20 years. There's a pre-draft and a
3:48post-draft. I recommend both highly. Uh can't get enough of it myself and that's over the long course of time. So uh and
3:56also find his work at football guys soon. Find my my work at football guys now. Uh weekly on the hot seat videos
4:03coming out now as well. So coming up, oh in about a month from now daily on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio, the
4:11Football Die Hard Show, we'll be back with me and Mike Dempsey. So you have that to look forward to people.
4:16>> You know, I'm just impressed how much optimism you have that we have new people listening to this podcast.
4:23But for the and and in addition to all that wonderful stuff Bob's doing at football guys, I will finally wake up
4:30and have some um reddraft rankings for this summer available this week with full commentary um throughout the week as I get to that. So, um yeah. So, a lot
4:41a lot happening at RSP offices that will now be um going, "Oh, yeah, we got Football Guys stuff to do, too." Um so,
4:48and some new articles will come out at Football Guys. the gut jack will be back in in the swing of things um from my
4:54hiatus as they say down here. Yeah.
4:57>> Fantasy notebooks there every week. I don't know why Wman slacks off so much.
5:00He was writing a 3,000 page of Okay, 1200. I lied. 1,200 page tome on rookies. Uh >> I do have Yeah, I do have a week where I
5:09just don't even want to look at my computer. And I after I get past that week, then I slowly get back into the
5:14swing of things. So that's where we're at.
5:16>> I have that week every day.
5:17>> You've been there. You've been You've been here every I know. every day.
5:20>> That's why that's why you're you and I'm me and you're you're and being you is admirable.
5:26>> Let's dive into the the stuff. I you may have heard AJ Brown was traded to the Patriots. Shocking development. Not uh
5:35but here's like now that he's there, the positivity has been flowing. A lot of talk about his big play ability. A lot
5:42of talk about Drake May's ability to take advantage of big play abilities.
5:46Um, Matt, AJ Brown will be a 1500 yard receiver in New England. Feel it or [ __ ] it?
5:50>> I'm feeling that it's possible, but I'm not there yet. And I I think mainly because >> there's much do about the knee and
5:58whether or not, you know, he's damaged goods and Philly got early, right? Yeah.
6:05He had a couple of cleanups and how what was it the Rams who knocked you know kicked the tires and said maybe not.
6:12Look, I'm more inclined to believe that this is more of the the um team saying the grapes were sour um that didn't get
6:21him, didn't keep him, all of that, got rid of them, and that's where they're at. But I'm also apt to believe that
6:29maybe 1500 yards isn't in the realm of possibility just because all players are somewhat damaged by this age for the most part. And there probably is some
6:38truth to that. He's got some things that you've got to um have, you know, you've got to maintain and you got to be
6:45careful about and he's earned that at 28. I still think he has two good years.
6:50I think if the the the floor for him is probably 120 targets, close to 80 receptions and a little over,00 yards
6:59and 7 to 10 touchdowns and that's still good enough to consider him a wide receiver one. Is he going to be
7:06dominant? I with I mean Romeo Dubs isn't unbelievable but he's a solid player.
7:12You've still got you know Deario Douglas. You've got Kyle Williams who's coming on and they still have Kahan Boute who we might talk about later at
7:19least for now. So do I think this is going to be one-sided AJ Brown year one kind of like Randy Moss coming to New
7:27England? No. Um but I think 1500 yards is in the realm of possibility. I'm just not ready to project it yet. By the way,
7:34Joshua McDaniels is the one drawing comparisons to the Randy Moss arrival.
7:38He was there for both of them. So, I do think that's interesting that he brought that up. And I and I get they're not the
7:44same player. Brown 15 receptions of 50 plus yards since the start of 2019, tied for most in the NFL uh with a couple
7:52guys that are uh pretty good. Uh so anyway, uh like I think, you know, I think I think you're right. I mean, 1500
7:59is like probably too much, but 1,200,300.
8:03>> Yeah. Yeah, why not?
8:04>> That wouldn't be shocking at all. So, I'm kind of with you there. You mentioned some other Patriots. Let's let's let's dig into Kan Booty. Uh, a
8:12lot of talk that he's like he would like to move on and for the obvious reason, he hadn't showed up for any of the
8:17volunteering sessions. He's going to show up now. But, uh, but what do you think about this? Make him a slot wide
8:22receiver for the Patriots. Feel it or I'm feeling that so much and and I've been talking about it on X a little
8:28bit last week because there was a curious little Yahoo article where they talked to Rabel and and asked him about
8:38um Kahan Booty and where he is and what's going on and he said well he said you know he's working out and happy
8:45where he's working out um and the situation that he's got there but we were very we like him a lot we were very
8:52happy with what he did last year and we feel like that he can still come in here and build on that. We think that there's
9:00some things that we would like to do with him that we're excited about and that and that could really still make
9:06him a big part of what we do. Something along those lines. Now, that could be just greasing the rails to get the the
9:12trade going and have team, you know, try and keep being optimistic about all that. But Booty was Bouty or Booty. I I
9:21like bouty. I guess I'm >> He likes Booty. I'm going with his pronunciation. I too like Booty.
9:26>> I know. But yeah, so Booty is Booty is certainly um he was a slot receiver at LSU. He was very good at that. He kind
9:35of worked between slot and flanker. Um there's some people say because of the foot injury that he had that maybe he's
9:42not well suited for the slot anymore. I find that a little bit difficult to believe considering that he played X and
9:48that he had to really ex, you know, the level of acceleration that he had to have and a lot of what he does with stop
9:55starts with, you know, contested catches. I think that he could be in the slot and I think he'd be an upgrade to
10:03Demario Douglas as a big slot who could deliver big plays with teams occupied with the outside receivers and he could switch inside outside with AJ Brown
10:13because if you remember AJ Brown was also a slot receiver at Mississippi and a and a darn good one. So, it it would
10:22to me I find it a little ironic that the Patriots couldn't acquire couldn't draft um anything but a slot receiver during
10:30the entire Bellich era. And a lot of these scouts are still here and now they're about to give up on a receiver
10:37who might be doing his best work in the slot and that the thing that he was worst at from his LSU profile was
10:44playing X and they had him as an X. Um, so I I don't know, maybe there is something to do with the uh do with the
10:52injury, but to me, um, Booty is someone that I would I I would try out in the slot before I would give give him away
11:03because I think that there is a team that he could wind up going to that could make him, you know, a a pretty
11:09good starter and maybe one who is even better than what Romeo Dubs has to offer. um you know who they acquired
11:17this off season.
11:19>> By the way, I should update this uh because he did speak last night and said that he wants to be a Patriot for the
11:23rest of his career. He says competition is something you have every year. So now that he's shown up, he is the stories
11:30have have shifted slightly. So good on him uh for feeling like that. I'm with you. But right now, I think you know and
11:36the ADP reflects it. There are two draftable commodities in this receiving room and the average draft if you're not in a crazy deep draft and it's going to
11:43be Brown and Doss. And I've seen Brown climbing up inside the top 10 and a lot of the projections. Uh, and I don't
11:50think that's crazy. I think the ADP will probably follow him up there as well just based on the the steam of this
11:55offense, the quarterback, and uh uh just the news. I mean, >> this is the thing about news, man. News creates attention. Attention creates
12:04interest. interest creates a rise in price and or a decrease if it's negative news. And as a fantasy investor, you should be out there. If you're out there
12:11playing best balls like me, you play these edges. These are places where you can find little little possibilities to do things. So, if you're out there
12:19drafting already and you got Brown a little cheaper, you're probably feel pretty good about it because you're not going to get it cheap much longer. So,
12:24>> I don't have booty projected or ranked right now in any of my stuff just because I'm waiting to see what happens.
12:30>> Yeah, I think he and Dobs are the guys that are going, you know, in re I should probably pull this up and real quick and
12:36just see. Uh, [groaning] we got Dobs is going as wide receiver 49. He's the second wide receiver off the board. So, that tells you uh 115th
12:45pick overall. Booties going as wide receiver 69 at 184. Grank approves of that ADP. So, there we have it. Uh, also
12:54one other Patriot note. I there's a little bit been a little talk uh about Eli Riden, the rookie tight end. Uh, in
13:01part because they paid a fair amount of money to Julian Hill to come over from Miami. They said they had a role for
13:07him. He said he had a knee injury or he did have a knee injury, a bad knee injury apparently during OTAAS. So, does
13:14Rar immediately become a sleeper?
13:17>> I'm not [ __ ] that. I'm not feeling that just yet. I just think that uh you're probably still going to see more three
13:24receiver types of sets with Dubs, AJ Brown, and either Douglas Williams or Booty, depending on how you look at it, whoever, however that shakes out. I
13:36always thought Julian Hill, even with the price tag, was probably going to be considered more of a blocker and that he
13:43was going to be probably getting somewhere in the in the low teens in terms of targets. I really didn't see him being a high highly targeted guy.
13:53And Raridan, while he has an athletic profile that gets people excited, um there's a lot of little issues with his game as a blocker, as a pass receiver.
14:05um especially at the catch point where he makes some big plays occasionally, but to me it's kind of like looking at
14:11Ben Scoranic's numbers early in his career where you know and I know he's not a tight end but you know he kind of
14:18played one a little bit. Yeah. And I think Raridan's kind of more in that in that range. So I may up his targets from 10
14:27to like maybe 20 or 25 to 30 but not much. Just a short version. Is is he a developmental prospect vote for your
14:35dynasty dynasty team?
14:37>> He he is in a deep league. You take a shot on him, but I think he's being overdrafted. I think there are a lot
14:43better tight ends out there.
14:45>> Basel Tutin no longer being overdrafted.
14:48He's going as running back 25. For me, I and I've been following this. He started out I think it was running back 22ish in
14:56early ADPs. It's kind of dropped the arrival, the arrival of Chris Rodriguez Jr., etc. Running back 25 to me feels like you're paying for the possibility.
15:07You're not paying for the full role.
15:08You're paying for the possibility of the full role or at least the lead role. And I like that. I'm feeling that. Are you
15:14feeling that? Running back 25 a good value. Feel it or [ __ ] it?
15:16>> Um, I think it can be a good value. And and while I would probably take the chance at at certain times and with some
15:23some drafts with that, um right now I haven't projected with a nearly even split with Rodriguez um heading into um training camp. Um and I think they'll
15:34split TDs. I think those that the yardage will be near even. But I I've have that in mind feeling that that's
15:41how it will look initially, but we may see Tuton pull away. If if Toutton holds on to the ball, makes the decisions Liam
15:49Comb likes between the tackles, he's pulling away. and 25 might wind up being a bargain because you might have his his
15:58um value in real life once we get into the regular season might be closer to top 15.
16:05>> Yeah, I I mean I think we're getting a running back three with running back one upside of that price. That said, 11th
16:10round price tag. I will have a ton more Rodriguez and best balls. There's no doubt. He is not working out right now.
16:16Um mysteriously absent from OTAA. So that'll be something to watch.
16:20Rodriguez, that is while Tootton is working on all the little things that supposedly will make him better. Is does that catch your attention that he's
16:27working on his pass protection and and some of the finer points?
16:30>> Absolutely. I mean, I think that we saw that he he did a pretty good job last year when he got into the games and I
16:38thought that he he he did a nice job with his decision-m between the tackles.
16:43So now it's time now that he's shown that he can carry the ball and do what they'd like him to do and they want him
16:49to step a little up a little bit more.
16:51The the pass protection is always the thing that coaches are are going to look for to see that that bat can be their
16:59early down and their early down starter and also being on the field on passing downs as well. And I think that that's
17:06the final test for Toutin um for the team to feel confident about saying he's our lead guy.
17:12>> Yeah. Well, I I agree with that. Well, I'm thinking about it. There's another situation where a running back is working on his blocking and receiving
17:18skills. That's Tayvon Henderson. Last year in New England, we drafted him to be he was drafted as running back 18 uh
17:25in the fourth round. Raandre Stevenson was going as running back 37 in round nine. We all know how that worked out.
17:32Some of us got what we wanted, some of us didn't. And and the Randre side, uh but Henderson showed the upside, right?
17:40He's this year he's projected for uh I want to say he's running back 21 according to current draft ADP. Uh Stevenson's running back 29. So the
17:48price is a little closer, but you're still paying more for Stevenson. Do you like that price and are you pleased with
17:53his efforts?
17:54>> I'm pleased with his efforts, though I think that I'll put it this way. I have them again almost evenly split. I would
18:01give the edge to Henderson in touchdowns and and rushing yardage. I would still give the edge to Stephvenson in receptions, receiving yardage, and
18:09receiving touchdowns. And it might mean that I have Stephvenson Oh maybe slightly Yeah, I I would say probably I have
18:21Stephvenson slightly ahead of Henderson.
18:24In fact, >> the football guy's projections are running back 26 and running back 28 with Henderson slightly ahead.
18:29>> Yeah. Yeah. So, it's pretty close. You know, it's I have I have Stevenson slightly ahead, but I'm kind of a
18:35Stevenson wonk. I can I'll I'll freely lead.
18:38>> Going back going back to the RS2, his original RSP. That's where I found out about him and I was super intrigued uh
18:45by the right time and it's turned out a lot of it been very preient.
18:49>> Yeah. My my thing about Henderson is this is that he was already a good pass catcher, but what he's got to work on is
18:58running the routes and understanding the nuances of the the with coverage and the relationship with the quarterback and being on the same page with him. And I
19:08think that's where Stephvenson has the edge that Henderson needs more experience and and film work on. And that's what he's working on right now.
19:16And then Stephvenson is just a better pass protector. Um, and I think he will always be, but Henderson, if he's good
19:23enough, they'll feel good about him in that way. The thing that I'd like to see him work on, Bob, and I'll end it with
19:28this, is I'd still like him to get a little bit better with creating something from nothing in situ when when plays don't go as planned and there's
19:38there's interior penetration or or any type of disruption into the back field as he's getting the ball. Stephvenson is marketkedly better in that arena, too.
19:49And I think that that's why this that's why he's not going anywhere. But Henderson, if he gets better at that, that that could make him the lead back
19:59for a good while.
20:00>> Like we saw the three huge games, 28 plus points in all three of them. Uh, two of those came with Stephvenson out.
20:06So, the contingent upside is there if something happens to Stephvenson, but otherwise, Stephvenson is not going away. And you should all not pretend he
20:13is. And necessarily, you know, I I don't think running back 21 is out of line. I think it's still a little higher than
20:19I'd be willing to pay for Henderson. Uh I probably will have more shares. Again, being old and meaning cheap, I tend to
20:25go with the cheaper option when I think the upside is still there. And it is.
20:28>> This is kind of can This is kind of like Kenyan Drake GMs wanting to put Frank Gore in the corner and Frank Gore
20:35wouldn't leave, but bigger, younger, and still and and still good. So, >> and apparently, >> yeah, >> the coaching staff has a thing for him
20:45because they had plenty of opportunities to shun him or at least a few fumbles and a few occasions where they could
20:51have made a made a switch easily and defended it, but they did not.
20:53>> Mike Rael Mike Rabel has to tackle guys like him. He knows what that feels like.
20:58Yeah.
20:58>> Right. Chris Godwin is wide receiver 40 right now. A lot of talk that he's looking very good in camp. Is he a
21:04bargain at that price?
21:05>> Absolutely. Want to believe that. going to believe that even though I've I've been higher on I was high on Godwin last
21:11year and the the the whole of picture of what his ankle looked like and shin looked like compared to the other one,
21:18the injured one compared to the the healthy one should have been a good canary in the coal mine moment to say
21:25maybe the co the Godwin who was the number two receiver in fantasy two years ago wasn't going to be ready to be able
21:31to do that this year, but so far this year he is and he is 30 years old. these these the issues aren't the kind of
21:39issues that should should derail his athletic ability. He's going to be the number two to a Mecha Eggba um excuse
21:49me. Thank you. And you know I think that he'll be probably lead in receptions but but Agbuka will probably be better in
21:58the yardage and and target share departments. Um, but I think Godwin will be more efficient because we'll see more from him in the
22:06slot, but they can also put him outside still. And I know Ted Hurst is an exciting player that people are interested in. And I think he'll
22:15probably get north of 50 targets in this in this offense, but but but I don't think he's going to be he may be a
22:24distant number three. Um, >> well, how should we look at Jaylen McMillan and and TZ Johnson then?
22:30>> I think we look at that's a great question. McMillan I think will be um fourth to to to Hurst. Um probably
22:38because he's he fits best in the slot and Godwin's going to be there most of the time. Same with Tez Johnson fits
22:44best in the slot. To me, TZ Johnson is the most one of the most underrated young slot players in the league. and I
22:54would try to find a way to pry him off the Buccaneers roster um if I were a team in need of one and a return man cuz
23:02this guy is pretty dynamic and he's a smart football player but I think that combined between Hurst McMillan and Tez Johnson you might they might match
23:13they're somewhere between Godwin and they might have a thousand yards among the three of them um and then maybe you know nine touchdowns whereas I have
23:21eight touchdowns for Godwin and Eggbuka.
23:24So, they'll be busy, but not busy enough for fantasy except as by-week plays or break the glass in case of emergency. If
23:32a if injuries pile up, McMillan, Johnson, maybe even Hurst could could star.
23:40>> Baker Mayfield got to be healthy. Maybe a >> Yeah, >> we'll see about that. Uh in Kansas City, uh you might have heard Rasheed Rice
23:47having some issues. Currently in jail, but getting some good rehab in on his knee that was surgically repaired the week before he went in. In the meantime,
23:54uh Jaylen Royals is looking good with the additional reps he's getting with the first team office. So says Andy Reid. Uh fourth round pick last year.
24:02Had a good training camp. These were an issue. Um is he a viable Rishi Rice replacement?
24:07>> Um I think he is. Um I really liked him coming out of school. Um he had better hands than Rayi Rice if you ask me on a
24:16lot of on a lot of the similar looks. Um and you knew that he was a skilled player after the catch and he scares
24:23Hugo because you can hear him barking in the background.
24:25>> Hugo is a Royals guy.
24:27>> Yeah, he he like he he's he he has respect for Royals. So um but so I think that they will be in good shape between
24:34Royals or Cyrus Allen if they needed to replace Rice in that screen role. But we know that, you know, as long as Rice
24:42avoids any of those those um prison rehabs that the prisoners might have for him, um he probably is northward of 1,200 yards in this offense as as the
24:54the the true running back too in this uh in this passing offense that throws to run the ball. Um you know, at least
25:03throws short as an extension of the run game. Um, so and I think also they're probably tired of Rice and his antics
25:10off the field and they know that I would doubt they're going to extend him, but they're probably going to run him into
25:16the ground as much as they can and get get the most out of him. Um, you know, while they have him.
25:23>> Fair enough. Uh, last year, uh, the Eagles offense was not great a year after Kell Moore called plays and Saquon
25:31Barkley had a historic season. Kevin Patulo's one season running offense wasn't great. So, welcome Shawn Manion of the Shawn McVey tree. Uh, three years
25:40removed from being an NFL quarterback.
25:41Played for McVey in Los Angeles as part of that. It's been Green Bay's quarterback's coach. Uh, Saquon Barkley calling up Todd Gurley, get a little
25:48advice on how to handle this this uh this offense. Um, what do you think about this uh feel or [ __ ] it? uh Saquon
25:56Barkley rebound year uh Todd Gurley style year in Shawn May's offense.
26:02>> I'm feeling that as a as a strong possibility. Um if you look at Todd Gurley in 2018, he had about 1,250
26:10yards, 17 rushing touchdowns, another 580 re um receiving yards and four touchdowns there. So we're looking at 21
26:19touchdown season um for him in 2018. And in 2017, he was the number one back in football with 2,93
26:30yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns from scrimmage in 15 games. Um, so G, you know, Gurley is certainly the type
26:41of player that you can that that was smart, you know, easy to model what you're what you can expect from Barkley
26:50in this offense. Um, now the question that I would have is that Gurley had better vision than Saquon Barkley. I know people are going to remember the
27:00reverse, you know, the reverse jump with the, you know, going hurdling over people. I'm not talking about vision as in creativity in the open field. I'm
27:10talking about seeing seeing where the creases will be, where they won't be, and making quick decisions and well-managed decisions where you're not
27:19try just trying to lean solely on your athletic ability. When Gurley when uh when Barkley doesn't really have a good feel for how the play is supposed to
27:29develop, he tries to out athlete people.
27:32Now, it's a minor criticism at this stage. We've seen what he can do. Um, but I think that he's always been a
27:40better gap player than a zone player. At the same time, outside zone has always been a good bridge for gap players
27:48trying to learn zone. And I think, you know, what Barkley was probably asking of Gurley was just some refined things that will help him be even better in
27:58that scheme. He's run it fine. and he just, you know, if he's going to air with decision-m, it would probably be on
28:05zone plays more often than gap plays from what I've seen with him over the years. Um, so I'm not sure I'm
28:12expecting, you know, 2,000 yards from scrimmage from Barkley this year. I think that's a that's a big rebound, but I'll, you know, I'll put him somewhere
28:22in the neighborhood of 14,500 yards from scrimmage and give Tanks Big Bsby a little bit more. Um, but I'm open to I'm
28:32open to raising that bar a little bit more in the receiving game because they're talking about trying to get him to about 50 to 60 receptions. And right
28:40now I have them at about 35 cuz I just wanted to see how this what they were going to say and feel out about this.
28:48And you have to understand too that, you know, AJ Brown's gone and I know that there was a lot of distractions with him
28:57not on the field and Patula's offense and all of that, but it's a new offense again. He does still, [clears throat] he
29:05carries gravity even when he's, you know, on the field, even when he doesn't get targeted. And now he's gone. And it's going to be an interesting it's
29:16gonna be interesting to see whether or not Devonte Adams Devonte Adams can not Adams Devonte Smith can be the player everyone believes he is without AJ Brown
29:27in the mix.
29:28>> People have pretty high expectations for that right now. I mean, a little bit of the uh immediate GL afterlow of the move
29:34kind of news, but I think people had talked themselves into this position over the course of time that that Devonte Smith is now going to be a
29:41monster wide receiver one in this offense. So, we'll we'll get that sorted out. By the way, uh Barkley's been top 10 seasons of 16 games, he's been top 10
29:52three those seasons. Last season being the outlier, he was 15th. Uh and that wasn't the worst thing that ever happened to any of us. So, it just was
30:00the price we paid was, you know, left us all a little bit. Ah, damn it. Uh, okay.
30:04Jaylen Wadd now in Denver. Courtland Sutton doesn't seem to be worried about roles. Neither does Wadd, but is he the Broncos wide receiver one the newcomer?
30:12Feel it or puck it?
30:14>> I'm feeling it. I think he's going to The only thing he's not going to lead in is targets um and receptions, but I
30:20think he's going to be more efficient in a yardage standpoint. Um, it's going to be weird. Like I would say, how would I
30:27how would I best put this? I have Courtland Sutton projected for about 209 fantasy points and Wadd for 201. So, it's very close, right?
30:37>> Um, and I think part of it is is that we're going to see Sutton Sutton just get peppered a little bit more often
30:43because Bon Knicks is familiar with him.
30:45waddle is probably going to be moved around a little bit more often and that may lead to um maybe a um you know less
30:54efficiencies at certain times. Um but it's not not too bad. I mean I could see Wadd easily becoming the top option and
31:02Sutland's not going to say much. He's 31 years old. He's got nothing to prove.
31:07He's had a good career. Um you know he wants to win. He'd like he I'm sure he would like to see this team get deep
31:14into the playoffs and possibly get a Super Bowl. And Wadd represents the the willingness to try and go for that.
31:22>> Sutton was wide receiver 14 last year, wide receiver 11 last year. He's being drafted as wide receiver 35 this year.
31:27I'm going to have a ton of him. Even if I don't expect him to be the wide receiver one, I don't expect him to be
31:32wide receiver 35. So there, [ __ ] that.
31:36All right. Uh, still time for Xavier Worthy to become a top 20 fantasy wide receiver for the Chiefs. Feel it or [ __ ]
31:41it, Matt Wman?
31:42>> I feel it. I'd stay patient with him at age 23. If you're in a long build, get him because this Rashi Rice nonsense
31:48will be over probably um when his contract ends. I mean, I know that the Chiefs are known to to buy into players
31:56who have um rough histories, but they're also known to get rid of them pretty quickly once they they've they get rid
32:05of them once they've shown a couple of shenanigans. They're not going to pay that extra money >> or once they've lied to them. Yeah. Said
32:11Kareem Hunt. Exactly. Even though he >> he was forgiven later, but he was sent into exile at Lake Ary, you know. So, uh
32:19you know, that that was part of that.
32:21But do I think Wory's going to be, you know, going to be the leading receiver on this team? Not at all. I think he's
32:28going to get half of what Rachie Rice probably has projected. I'm looking at him just under 700 yards, but I think he
32:36will be the second most targeted wide receiver um on the team and probably the third option in this offense. But I've
32:44seen the routes with him. He runs good routes and I think that um this year with Momes trying to rehab and come back
32:53um early, you know, it may be another year before we see Rice start to make another step forward. But I think we're
33:00going to see I mean worthy another step forward, but I think we're going to see good things and I still think he'll
33:05outperform Taekquin Thornton who is getting buzz in camp because of his deep ability.
33:12>> I fair enough. I don't have strong feelings one way or the other. I think the the price is right. I'm not afraid
33:18to grab him if he comes up at the right time. There's other players in that same price range. I feel like I I've been
33:22leaning more into but now you've probably uh subliminally changed that.
33:26Thank you, Matt Wman.
33:27>> Sure. But Dynasty more I'm more interested in Dynasty than I am in reddraft. That's if you're on a long build, this is the type of guy that by
33:36the time your long build is ready, he could be a very solid wide receiver to for your team for a couple of years when
33:42you're in that contention.
33:43>> Dynasty leagues I'm in, Matt is always perpetually long building. I don't know what that says about [laughter] shots fired.
33:51>> You're in one league with me. That's all it is. [laughter] >> All right.
33:55>> And I did. Yeah. Okay.
33:57>> Go ahead. Go ahead. And I and I will say despite Mike despite despite Mike Dempsey and his his perpetual training,
34:05I did I did produce a a conference title um in that 16th league with scraps. So I I just I just will say that, you know,
34:16it's it's it's not that [clears throat] it was last year honestly sucked. It was my worst fantasy season in every league
34:21that I have been in in like 30 plus years.
34:24>> I've I've touched on the spot. I appreciate that.
34:27>> [laughter] >> Tyler Warren is touching on his spot.
34:30He's going into fifth round as pretty universally wide receiver for an early draft. 14th pick overall in the 2025 draft. Had a solid season. It kind of
34:39went off the rails a little bit like every Colt uh when Daniel Jones went down. Um right now Tai is working to
34:46correct some things this off season. Uh feeler [ __ ] it. Uh Tyler Warren uh a big benefit of vacated targets and in a in a
34:54Daniel Jones offense. You know, that's a great question. I love that you called him wide receiver because it was a happy
35:00accident. Yeah. Wide receiver 14 because he really is he's much more wide receiver though defenses look at him as a tight end. He's he's kind of Riy Rice
35:11in this in this Colts offense except that he's he even has less traffic to deal with oftentimes with because Jonathan Taylor is such a beast and they
35:21can and that offensive line's so good that he gets into wide open space. But listen, I love the fact that he talked
35:28about he's working on his route breaks and trying to get better and and more efficient with how he breaks routes because that's the next step for him.
35:37You know, when you looked at his scouting report, I heard people talk about him as the next George KD, the next Brock Bowers type of player. Maybe
35:45not onetoone fit with that, but those two players run routes like wide receivers. Tyler Warren catches contested plays like wide receivers,
35:53runs after the catch like a a fullback, but his route running was really restricted to zone coverage um or where he could be just the bigger guy on
36:04inside stems breaking outside and that's not a full tree route runner. Okay? And so I know that Indianapolis Colts fans had my picture on post office walls um
36:15you know when I was saying stuff like this all last year but I mean even Warren's talking about that that this is
36:21an area that he needs to improve on.
36:23Doesn't make him a bad player. He's a So I'm totally feeling the idea that he will be the second or third most
36:32targeted player um in this passing offense and still have a massive role.
36:37Um, I do think without another receiver that's going to be compelling enough to to scare defenses outside of Alec
36:45Pierce, if that happens, Warren might get shut down a little bit more often and teams will be better at doing so
36:53because they understand what's going on with that offense. The way the Steelers played him, you can see they shut his ass down pretty quick. And I think more
37:02teams will see that film. and with Daniel Jones recuperating and I know that he's not a 36 or 35year-old Kirk Cousins, but you know, I'm still
37:13leerary of Daniel Jones. He was on his way to a career season, but he also in certain respects, but he but there's
37:21still some consideration that he was a one-year wonder and a very heavily schemed offense that heavily schemed offenses in terms of what with he a lot
37:31of schemed plays that they ran with him kind of get found out after >> those plays again. I think they'll run
37:37him again, but I think that they'll that's the problem is that they they'll get found out a little bit, you know,
37:44>> possibility. Yeah. 28 points a game with with him running the show, right? I mean, yeah, I mean, everything was working. So, we'll see. We'll have to
37:51see.
37:52>> Who's that quarterback that played when Dan Marino got hurt or that quarterback who played when Scott Mitchell or that quarterback who played when when Tom
38:02Brady got hurt? Oh. Um, Matt Castle, you know, I mean, neither of those went on to great success. Dan, you know, Jimmy
38:09Garopppolo, I would say the same.
38:10>> Daniel Jones a little different uh little different uh background though than those guys. So, I don't know.
38:15>> Yeah. I mean, yeah, he was. That's true.
38:17>> I'll just I'll just say, you know, like to me it seems like this is a Shane Stiken thing. Found the guy that's ready
38:23to execute his offense the way he wanted it executed. Kind of Shanahan like, you know, and and and once they find that
38:30guy, things tend to work. We'll see. Uh he's had success in the past, but he hasn't extended over time. So would love
38:36to see him do something more. Brian Thomas Jr. uh apparently he's been putting in extra reps to with Trevor Lawrence to improve their chemistry.
38:44Good. It's needed. [laughter] I'll just say this. Uh feeler, [ __ ] it. Uh Brian Thomas Jr. will improve enough but not
38:52enough because of Trevor Lawrence.
38:54>> I love Bob's love for Daniel Jones. I just want to put that out there on the record. um he's defending him like I
39:01mean and I like that. But uh Brian Thomas um I I'm feeling that it's probably more incumbent upon Trevor Lawrence. We know what Brian Thomas is.
39:12He's a good vertical receiver and a lot of his um good work as a rookie came >> with M. Jones and with Trevor Lawrence,
39:23we saw a lot of um errant throws, a lot of not being on the same page with Thomas in the vertical game. And they
39:32switched, you know, Liam Cohen switched that up mid-season and said, "Let's trade for Jacobe Meyers. Let's get Parker Washington in there." Dammy
39:40Brown, who I had, you know, who he had like dreams about to bring this guy over here from Washington. Well, Donnie Brown
39:49ain't even here anymore because he realized we need tough in the middle of the field pass catchers who work the short and intermediate ranges of the
39:57field and we need to throw to those guys. You know what? That Travis Hunter guy that we really we liked as a two-way
40:04player and who we think maybe could be a good deep option, maybe we don't need him as much here. we can put him at
40:10cornerback a little bit more often and we'll say the good things that we need to say in camp, but this is going to be
40:17a Meyers and a Meyers Washington two punch with, you know, with good doses of Hunter and and Brian Thomas. Um,
40:27switching off as the third guy um depending on what the matchups look like. And I wouldn't be surprised if they trade Thomas. Um, still
40:36>> there's been that talk. 14 games last year he played with Trevor Lawrence. Um averaged 6.2 targets under 10 points a
40:44game fantasy wise. The averages dropped at the point that Matt said though over the final eight games I would say uh to
40:52eight under nine points a game that was with Meyers and the emergence of Washington. Um so yeah I think like I
40:59think we're wish casting a little bit if we're expecting that wide receiver too.
41:02He was wide receiver two over his what two final games? How many games did he play with M. Jones? Uh 10 targets a game. Final six games he
41:12was wide receiver two overall. That propelled him to a wide receiver two finish and and he was not nearly that good with Trevor Lawrence. So I'm kind
41:19of with you on this. It's a I think you know I think it's fun to say that yes, they're putting in the time. They're
41:23building that chemistry. It's also a bit of wish casting which I'm not against. I did I just did it with Daniel Jones and
41:29I do it a lot. So, it's a it's it'll be incrementally better, but that means like watching grass grow, and I don't
41:35think they have time for that.
41:36>> I wish cast a lot with Kyler Murray as well. Matt doesn't uh he's having impressive OTAAS. Matt, will there be
41:42one more than one fantasy starter in the passing offense this year? Feel it or it?
41:45>> I'm going to say [ __ ] it until proven wrong because it hasn't happened but once in his entire career. Um and and it
41:52was a shaky once. Um, so you you look at I am, but it's I'm I'm trying to help people, you know, and I I look at this
42:01and Kyler Murray has I mean, he has elite athletic talent. He has the arm of a of a very good starter. Um, his
42:11improvisational skills are strong. Um, and his, you know, and unfortunately what happens is that he does not stay in
42:21the pocket to find efficient solutions.
42:23And it's not about his size. Drew Brees, um Russell Wilson, Doug Fluty, all could step up in a pocket if they needed to.
42:31And when they did, they found efficient answers. And he doesn't find efficient answers. In fact, last year, what we learned from Trey or what we heard in
42:40offseason from Trey McBride was that he wasn't supposed to get as many targets often in those years with Kyler Murray because but Kyler Murray would skip the
42:50first first read because he didn't have confidence in his first read and would just throw it to the tight end and
42:55pepper him with that. So, it gives you two thoughts here is who's going to be the most peppered target option in
43:03Minnesota? And I would say the the best bet obviously is Justin Jefferson. Um, but if he and Jefferson aren't on the
43:12same page, um, and it doesn't work out and it works out like it did in Arizona, we might see TJ Hawinson have a
43:19renaissance and turn out to be kind of a junior trade McBride with this and we see Jefferson demanding a trade or um,
43:30you know, having you know, having a problem with Kyler Murray and kind of and this could be a real test for him. I
43:36think the biggest loser is going to be Jordan Madison. I don't, you know, because he's he's gonna really become a
43:44distant third probably on this team if, you know, if things go the way they did in Arizona. Now, if Kyler Murray comes
43:53out slinging and he's able to show more efficiency from the pocket and he's m and because I've seen him climb the
44:00pocket, he just needs to make the effort to do so. if he does that, gets with the Mc, you know, with the Okonnell program
44:08and we see really strong distribution of targets where multiple guys are getting a heavy dose and a fantasy worthy thing.
44:17after two to three games, if I see that happening, you know, in the first two to three games, I will be I will be
44:24congratulatory to Kyler Murray and the Vikings will have found themselves, you know, at the very least a competitive stop gap starter.
44:35>> All right, fair enough. Uh Justin Herbert and I I mean, we all know you don't like him, so I just took all that
44:41as like, you know, just your reiteration of I don't like Kyler Murray, but you do like Justin Herbert. No, I'm just
44:46kidding. You do like Justin Herbert.
44:48Well, I think we all like Justin Herbert. He looks like what a quarterback's supposed to be like. He's been working on his foot footwork. Uh
44:54Mike McDaniel said upon arrival, there were a couple things that they wanted to do. They find him to be most effective
44:59uh in the first portion of after the snap if he throws the ball quickly or if he extends further. There's a middle
45:07range they want him to avoid though where he's been horrible. Um does all this work on his footwork? Does it change anything you think about Justin
45:14Herbert uh to the degree that maybe uh it'll cover up his past flaws and make him that top 10 candidate we all hope?
45:22>> I think Mike McDaniel likes short passing or quick passing and get rid of the ball because he had two ona and he
45:28understood that we can do a lot with misdirection to open huge gaping holes in the run game for our backs and then
45:37leverage off of that to throw in the intermediate ranges of the field. Um, so I think more than anything the footwork
45:43changes for Herbert are more schemeoriented. Um, and there's a good breakdown by a former quarterback who talks about how the way the foot the
45:53feet are set when you're going to play out a gun or pistol is has to be done a certain way when you when you're going
46:01to be handing the ball off, especially if you're right-handed and you have maybe players working um sideline to sideline to hand the ball to. um whether
46:13that's a receiver, a back motioning across like Katon Mitchell, um or whether it's, you know, whether it's the running back, you know, offset in the
46:22back field. So, and then it gives you a quick setup to get rid of the ball, which is what they want to do off these
46:28play fakes so that they can confuse linebackers and and safeties and not give them time to really react. And that's going to be a big part of their
46:37passing game. So, I think it's more schematic. Now, I do understand that maybe the schematic changes that they have and why they hired Mike McDaniel is
46:46that they want to get rid of that that intermediate um that you know that between the you know between the two
46:54ranges that you talked about. Um, and that's probably true that his processing, that's what I saw in college is that his processing was kind of wonky
47:04if he didn't scramble or if he didn't find a quick hitting play. He's not the processor say Brock Perie is or that Tom
47:12Brady was. He has and we see with him he's a beautiful thrower and looks great as a as a quarterback but he makes like
47:21one or two stupid plays a a week that you go how did that come out of his arm and out of his brain and a lot of it is
47:29that the high-end processing is good but not great.
47:32>> Yeah, it's really specific numbers. I wrote about it in a recent fantasy notebook. You should go hunt that down at footballguys.com. One last one here.
47:39Chuba Hubards seems set to be the lead back, but a lot of talk that they're going to divvy that workload up. Uh
47:45Jonathan Brooks and Trevor ETN, the true future at running back in Carolina feel it or [ __ ] it.
47:51>> I'm feeling that. Um I think Hubard Hubard's best days are probably behind him already at this point after they gave him the extension. I think decent.
48:00Yeah, you know how it is. Um >> you know, I hate myself for loving you.
48:06Is that what it is? Isn't that Joan Jet?
48:08Yeah, but um but it's um I think the deal is that he's still a capable back, but I think that you know, you start
48:19seeing at this age, Brandon, you know, Angelo, my colleague on th Wednesday nights talked about recently that, you know, once you start seeing a back miss
48:30games at a certain age, right, you start to worry that they're not going to be able to hold up. And so I have some
48:36concerns about that. But the other thing is is that Trevor Antienne flashed a little bit in very limited time. Um, and
48:42he's a very good scatback, good receiver, and I could see him becoming the compliment to Jonathan Brooks in a couple years. And at the age he is, if
48:52you're rebuilding in Dynasty, this might be a cheap pickup that you can have that by the time your team becomes relevant.
49:01he and Jonathan Brooks, you could have a a running back one, running back three combo if this team ever gets their their
49:10gets their offensive line and quarterback situation really solidified.
49:14And there's a chance that happens because I mean, Bryce Young's been hanging in there and he's had some inspired moments and he hasn't had a
49:24true number one receiver. And I think that Ted McMillan is ready to do that because Chris Brazzle is going to be
49:31outside and that's going to move McMillan inside into the Drake London role. And if you put him in the Drake London role, that's the correlary to how
49:41he can become a true fantasy number one option. Outside, he's more of a a mid-range to high-end wide receiver, too. Um because he's going to have to
49:52deal with more press and the slot he won't. And if you do all that now, you're opening up the run game. And
49:57Jonathan Brooks to me is, you know, you pe I know that there's people that would look and go, I don't, you know, I didn't
50:07have him rated as highly as Jordan Love or I didn't have him rated as high as Ashton Genty. So, I've had people I I
50:15saw some people on podcast, I think Sam Mson and the PFF dude, um I don't remember former PFF dudes, I don't
50:22remember his name. um curlyhaired dudes.
50:24Palazo. Yeah, I think. Yeah. Um they were they mentioned me on their show um that I said that, you know, Brooks was
50:32up there with those two guys. And I said, "Yeah, when healthy, he when he was healthy, he was up there for me
50:38graded wise. He's not as speedy as those two backs. Um but I thought he was the best pass protector of the three, as
50:46good of a receiver as the three. um better contact balance than than almost as good contact balance as Genty, maybe
50:56even better against bigger guys. Um and I would say as a decision maker, he was he was up there with those two guys,
51:05probably better than um Love right now um at that at that stage. Just just about health and we'll see if the burst
51:13can be good enough. And if it is, this guy could carry a load. Yeah, I'm taking chances on Brooks in drafts and not so
51:19much on Chuba Hover find it kind of uninspiring and and maybe I end up Jonathan Brooks isn't as you know isn't
51:25as healthy as they say or or has more struggles but uh but I think it's not cost prohibitive to find out. All right,
