"It seemed as if he wanted me to be here," Beckham said as to O'Connell. "And that was expressed to me. And that feels good. . . . It always feels better when you're doing it for somebody who, you know, you feel like their heart is there for it as well."

Beckham joins Vikings on O'Connell's recruitment; debuts Sunday vs. Saints.

Odell Beckham Jr. joined the Vikings after being released by the Giants, choosing Minnesota over other options. Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell, who worked with Beckham on the Rams and won a Super Bowl together, actively recruited him. Beckham stated O'Connell "wanted me to be here" and expressed genuine commitment to adding him. Unlike his Giants return, which felt like a publicity stunt and proved unsustainable once games started, the Vikings signed Beckham purely for football reasons to make the team better. O'Connell had opportunities to sign Beckham in the past but didn't; this signing suggests O'Connell believes Beckham can make an immediate difference.
