Bowers' 25 targets and receiver-heavy deployment make him a league-leading TE asset.

All-Pro TE being deployed as a wide receiver by the Raiders; 25 team-high targets, 16 receptions, 202 receiving yards (3rd on team) through two games since returning from knee injury. Bowers has played just 16 snaps inline compared to 61 out wide and 45 in the slot, functioning as the Raiders' primary receiver. His eight third-down conversions in two games are tied for 3rd-most in the NFL and tied for most among tight ends. Head coach Mike Vrabel noted his receiver-like skill set: "Really, Brock is a receiver; that's impressive. What he does at his size, the speed, the route craft, and being able to catch at the catch point. He's like a big slot receiver. He has downfield speed, he runs outward breaking routes, he runs routes like a receiver, but then also he's got the ability to double guys up inside." Patriots safety Kevin Byard called him "the number one receiver. I wouldn't even call him a tight end."
