NeutralRole

Mahomes needs better pass protection on straight dropbacks as competition increases.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has operated well in the Chiefs' run-heavy, play-action-based offense from under center, but needs better pass protection on straight dropbacks; the team averages only 12 true pass plays per game, and Mahomes will need to win games by throwing when the defense knows he is as opponents get tougher.
