Mendoza's mobility and arm talent are superior, but Cousins' hot hand keeps him starting.

Mendoza brings more mobility than Kirk Cousins and can open up the deep passing game more while fitting passes into tight windows more frequently; however, the source believes you have to ride the hot hand with Cousins right now since the Raiders are averaging 28.8 points per game (seventh-best in the NFL). Mendoza's leash on Cousins gets shorter after every week as the rookie gets closer to being ready to play, and one bad game from Cousins could lead to the switch.
