It is a change of pace. We like that package. We can't be predictable with it when we use him and when we're going to do it, but he needs to stay with it. That can be an advantage for us.

McCarthy's change-of-pace package staying despite early struggles; Nagy sees upside.

McCarthy was deployed in a change-of-pace package against Washington for five plays; Nagy expressed confidence in the package despite limited early success, noting three plays had execution issues or penalties but potential for big plays. Nagy stated the Giants won't abandon the package and told McCarthy 'you're doing what you're supposed to do. We like that package,' though Nagy cautioned against predictability in usage. McCarthy is also being developed as a full-time quarterback learning the offense, not just as a package player, with Nagy balancing practice reps between McCarthy and starter Jameis Winston.
