Samaje Perine was the Cincinnati Bengals' leading rusher on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, and he provided a spark that this ground game hasn't had enough of so far this year. The veteran running back logged 14 carries for 68 yards during the game. That 4.9 yards per carry is the highest number for a Bengals running back this season. Perine also added 2 receptions for 10 yards, and found the end zone for Joe Burrow's second touchdown pass of the game.

Positive signalRole

Perine's 4.9 YPC and TD spark a case for expanded role over Chase Brown.

Samaje Perine was the Bengals' leading rusher against Miami with 14 carries for 68 yards (4.9 YPC, season-high for a Bengals RB) plus 2 receptions for 10 yards and 1 TD. The source argues Perine deserves a larger role going forward, suggesting a 60-40 carry split with Chase Brown makes sense to leverage whichever back is running hotter each game. Perine is characterized as a dependable, chain-moving player who consistently converts opportunities, contrasting with Brown's inconsistent production.
