Yahoo Sports NFL on Devaughn Vele

Vele has become Saints' go-to slot receiver and Shough's favorite target.

Saints receiver Devaughn Vele has emerged as a key offensive weapon after being acquired from Denver on a fourth-round pick last year. He has become the contested-catch slot receiver the Saints have been searching for since Michael Thomas. Vele is quickly becoming one of Tyler Shough's favorite targets and a go-to option on third-and-long situations. He and Juwan Johnson have also been effective in the red zone. For a six-foot-five receiver to move the way he does and display that kind of body control is remarkable, and Jennings expects him to continue garnering more attention as the season progresses.
