DK Metcalf is struggling in a new possession receiver role

The source evaluates a trade package of DK Metcalf and Bucky Irving for Zay Flowers as 'not great.' Metcalf is seeing high volume with a 13th-ranked first-read target share and 15th-ranked air yards per game, but his fantasy production is lagging at 33rd. The source notes his average depth of route run is at a career low, and he has transitioned into a possession receiver role in Pittsburgh that he is not effectively executing, lacking his former explosive playmaking ability.
