From the episode

Mike Evans is still one of the better receivers that we have in the game...Evans is so good because not only does he still win physically, it's the fact that, okay, maybe he's not as fast as what he used to be. That football IQ is as sharp as it's ever been. He is aging so gracefully.

Positive signalRole

Evans thriving in expanded slot role with 49ers; elite contested-catch ability and football IQ.

Evans has transitioned into a significant slot role with the 49ers, working inside the numbers close to the hash marks in addition to his traditional X receiver duties. The source highlights his exceptional football IQ and physical dominance in contested situations, noting he creates throwing windows through precise route running and defender manipulation rather than relying solely on athleticism. He had a takeover drive in the second half/early fourth quarter that was 'basically only Mike Evans,' demonstrating his value as a go-to target in critical moments.
