Winston benched for McCarthy; praised but replaced to unlock Giants' scheme.

Winston was benched in favor of J.J. McCarthy as the Giants' starting quarterback. The source indicates Winston is immobile at 32 years old and does not approximate Dart's skill set, which the Giants' offense was built around in the offseason. Harbaugh praised Winston's performance, saying he thought Winston had done a tremendous job and won games, but the team is moving in a different direction with McCarthy to access more of the playbook.
