use a first-round pick on QB Ty Simpson (???). Simpson felt like a reach — I understand the urge to draft a QB when your starter is 38 — but this is less about him. It's more than the Rams always treat rookies like they couldn't possibly help.

Simpson first-round pick felt like reach; Rams underutilize rookies.

Simpson was selected in the first round by the Rams and is characterized as a reach. The source notes that while the urge to draft a QB when the starter (Stafford) is 38 is understandable, the pick felt premature. The broader criticism is that the Rams treat rookies as if they cannot help, which is not true—Super Bowl teams typically have several key rookies contributing.
