Yahoo Sports NFL on Matthew Stafford

ArticleAre the Los Angeles Rams a repeat of the Patriots game?October 23, 2026

From the article

Stafford has been without either Adams or Puka Nacua in every game except the game in Australia in Week 1 and last week. So sticking with power sets and standing tall in the pocket waiting to throw to tight ends and running backs is nothing new to him.

Stafford's tight-end reliance matches Rams' scheme and Raiders' weakness.

Matthew Stafford is well-positioned to exploit the Raiders' defensive weaknesses; with Adams and Nacua unavailable most of the season, he has become accustomed to standing tall in the pocket and throwing to tight ends and running backs, which plays directly into the Rams' 13-personnel heavy scheme (29% of offense) and the Raiders' documented struggles covering tight ends.
