This is going to be a sell for me... They are splitting carries, snaps, targets, receptions out of the back field between him, Kamani Vidal, and Katon Mitchell. And I can't say for certain that he's actually looked better than either of those other two backs... Mike McDaniels not going to be there for the entirety of the season. The offensive line is banged up and unhealthy right now... it was very clear that they just don't think Omarian Hampton is awesome right now cuz if they did they wouldn't be giving a bunch of touches and carries to Kamani Vidal.
STACKED’s take
Omarian Hampton: splitting carries, no volume path, sell despite second-half upside
Omarian Hampton is rated as a sell. The running back is splitting carries, snaps, targets, and receptions with Kamani Vidal and Katon Mitchell, and hasn't demonstrated superiority over either backup. The offense is struggling, Mike McDaniels is out for the season, the offensive line is banged up (wasn't elite even when Slater and Joe Alt were healthy), and coaching uncertainty (Adam Gase taking over) creates no clear path to increased volume. Vague responses about 'doing what's best for the team' when asked why Hampton isn't getting more carries, combined with Kamani Vidal receiving significant work, indicate the team lacks confidence in Hampton's current ability.
