Yahoo Sports NFL on Dont'e Thornton

Thornton's 21-day evaluation window closes Oct. 28; Bech's return threatens his roster spot.

Thornton's practice window opened Oct. 7 and closes Oct. 28; if not activated by then, he remains on injured reserve for the rest of the season. The Raiders have had more than two weeks to evaluate him, and their decision to keep him off the roster suggests he has yet to demonstrate what the coaching staff needs to see. Additionally, Jack Bech, eligible to return from injured reserve next week after a broken forearm, is expected to be immediately added to the 53-man roster given his importance in the pass game, run blocking, and special teams versatility, further clouding Thornton's roster prospects.
