Jacobs, at the very least, should be able to do that. An inside grinder who's never been particularly big or fast, Jacobs has made his living as a runner hitting the designed hole hard and correctly. If he can at least be a net neutral on the ground, gaining only what he's expect to get and nothing more, he'll represent a significant and dramatic improvement for the Packers' rushing game.

Jacobs' return should improve Packers rushing game by meeting expected performance.

Josh Jacobs is expected to return to the Packers lineup this weekend. The source argues that even if Jacobs performs only as expected—hitting the designed hole hard and correctly—he will represent a significant and dramatic improvement for the Packers' rushing game, which ranks 32nd in total rushing yards (359 yards) and has produced -116 Rushing Yards Over Expected (RYOE) this season. Jacobs' ability to gain only what he's expected to get, rather than underperforming like current Packers backs, would move the team away from being the worst rushing game in the league.
