This is up there along with Lad McConkie as Mello and I's biggest miss of the 2026 NFL season. It's David Montgomery and Lad for us. David Montgomery, we were just flat out wrong about.

Negative signalBust
Montgomery a major miss; aging, losing touches to Marks in struggling Texans offense.
The source identifies David Montgomery as one of their biggest misses of the 2026 NFL season, alongside Lad McConkie. They were high on Montgomery expecting a 2024 Joe Mixon-like season when he joined Houston, but he is now aging and losing the job to Woody Marks in a struggling Texans offense. The source is very concerned about Montgomery moving forward, citing the team's poor defense and negative game scripts as major headwinds that undermine the original value thesis.
