it's pretty clear to me that the Colts would like to get a first round pick to trade Jonathan Taylor away... Clearly a little bit of an audition for McGowan to see how he will handle having drives to himself and I think a a signal to the rest of the National Football League that if someone gives us what we think is Jonathan Taylor's mark of value, we would be happy to trade him.

Colts actively shopping Taylor for first-round pick; McGawan getting audition.

Jonathan Taylor had 18 carries in the Colts game, but the source believes the Colts are actively shopping him and would trade him for a first-round pick as part of a rebuild. Seth McGawan's 11 carries on 20 of 61 snaps is being positioned as an audition to signal to the league that the Colts are open to trading Taylor.
