Big Blue View on Darnell Mooney

Mooney converted crucial fourth-and-short on jet sweep; created space on vertical routes.

Mooney was involved in key plays in McCarthy's first start. The source highlights him picking up a crucial fourth-and-short on a jet sweep at the Houston 47-yard line, which set up an aggressive drive. Later, Mooney's vertical route against Cover-4 helped clear space for Nabers' dig route in the middle of the field. In a bonus play, McCarthy recognized a lapse in coverage and gave Mooney a chance from the far hash to make a play. The source notes that Mooney is open a lot and that securing footballs like McCarthy's throws would be an excellent start for him.
