Mendoza's debut timing debated as Raiders lose four straight with Cousins still starting.

No. 1 overall pick remains on the bench despite Raiders' four-game losing streak and mounting pressure for his first start. Kubiak confirmed Cousins remains QB1 for Week 8 against the Jets. Debate centers on optimal timing: immediate starts for experience versus waiting for softer schedule after Week 13 bye, given upcoming matchups against top-12 defenses (49ers, Broncos, Browns) and the risk of throwing a rookie into difficult situations early.
