If there's a No. 1 reason why the Patrick Mahomes offense didn't reach the red zone for the first time in his entire career in Week 7, it was the awful pass-catcher play. There were four drops with room to run on each of them.

Chiefs' pass-catcher drops and OT injuries create unsustainable pressure for Mahomes.

The Chiefs have a pass-catcher problem that prevented them from reaching the red zone for the first time in Mahomes' entire career in Week 7. There were four drops with room to run on each, and Mahomes had to work for the yardage they did hold on to. Additionally, Mahomes was without his top OTs: Josh Simmons is trending towards never playing another snap for the Chiefs, and his backup is holding on for dear life with too many whiffs, bull rush pressures, and an inability to pick up a stunter on tape. The fill-in right tackle was equally bad, though Jaylon Moore (concussion) will return sometime soon. There's not a lot to support Mahomes in pure dropback passes right now, and the hits and extra time sprinting around will pile up.
