Garrett Wilson even though he started off the season extremely hot. You know I know he's been frustrated the last few weeks...they just had no answers like how to free up some of their players against zone coverage, Garrett included. And a lot of that is because he's basically just playing outside receiver...Garrett Wilson to me is still the better player of the two...that's kind of what's happened with Garrett...whoever you think your best man beater is is typically just going to get stuck on the outside there
STACKED’s take
Wilson frustrated by role constraints and reduced targets; stuck on outside vs. zone coverage.
Garrett Wilson has been frustrated in recent weeks despite a hot start to the season, with his frustration boiling over in a heated sideline exchange with Jets passing game coordinator Seth Ryan during the Dolphins game. Matt Harmon attributes Wilson's frustration partly to role constraints—he's "basically just playing outside receiver"—and the emergence of other receiving options like Omar Cooper Jr., which has reduced his target volume. The Jets' inability to free up Wilson against zone coverage, combined with the team's overall coaching deficiencies and static offensive scheme under Frank Reich, has contributed to his declining involvement. Harmon advocates for using Wilson and Omar Cooper Jr. in tandem with varied offensive concepts, noting Wilson is "still the better player" but has been "stuck on the outside" getting the hardest coverage matchups rather than being deployed flexibly like elite receivers on other teams.
