I have been and still am concerned that we saw clear signs of decline in AJ Brown's game on film last year. However, there are two ways that concern could be unfounded, or at least less important, for this coming season. 1) He was playing hurt before the bye. One of the many misconceptions, in my view, regarding Rome Odunze's outlook for this season is that he's bound for a vertical X-receiver role, running low-percentage straight-line routes along the boundary. Maybe, but that is just not how he was used last season, particularly before he missed time with injuries. Nico Collins from 2023 to 2025: - 2nd in yards per route - 10th in targets per route - 6th in first downs per route Keeps company with all the best receivers in the league during this span while running a real-deal route tree as the Texans' X-receiver. Just need him to stay healthy for all 17 games to register a raw stats season worthy of his talent.
It's totally cool and not frustrating at all to see Garrett Wilson turn up a bunch of incredible comps based on his charting data, yet still be held back from reaching that production ceiling. We'll see what 2026 holds.
