0:00Four things you need to know in fallout
0:02of the Jayden Higgins out for the season
0:05injury. Number one, this is a huge
0:08bummer and that's the obvious one. Look,
0:10Jayden Higgins was not one of these
0:11traditional reception perception
0:13separates at all three levels
0:14superstars. However, I thought he had
0:16some really good film as a Z receiver
0:18for the Houston Texans as a rookie. Was
0:19concerned when he had to and if he had
0:21to play X, but being on the Houston
0:23Texans roster across from Nico Collins,
0:26those concerns were pretty much lowered
0:28if not completely erased for me. I
0:29thought he was a really good fantasy
0:31sleeper this year. This is a huge bummer
0:33for a guy that was getting great
0:34off-season reports and I thought was a
0:35sneaky breakout candidate on an offense
0:37that I think can take a step forward
0:39here. Second thing you need to know is
0:40that Nico Collins is absolutely going to
0:42go crazy this year. This is already a
0:44guy that I was higher than consensus on
0:46this season. I've been higher than
0:47consensus on him for many, many seasons.
0:50We've seen this with these teams that go
0:52to more heavier personnel packages. The
0:54number one wide receiver, especially
0:56somebody that can beat man press
0:57coverage at the rate that Nico Collins
0:59can, one of the best in the NFL at doing
1:02so,
1:03these are the guys that just consolidate
1:05targets. We saw this with Jackson
1:07Smith-Njigba last year and Nico Collins,
1:10by all accounts, is going to be playing
1:12for a team in Houston that wants to play
1:13more heavy personnel packages and he's
1:15going to absolutely eat this season. As
1:18long as he can stay healthy, he can go
1:19absolutely crazy in 2026. The third
1:21thing you need to know is, yeah, this
1:24does keep a candle lit for our guy Tank
1:27Dell, who was absolutely one of the best
1:29outbreaking route runners in the NFL as
1:32a rookie. Not among rookies,
1:34all players in the NFL, he was one of
1:36the best outbreaking route runners that
1:37season.
1:38Just we just don't know where he is at
1:40physically and that's kind of the
1:43three and a half thing that you need to
1:45know is that Xavier Hutchinson, no
1:46matter what you think, is going to play
1:48more than you want, all right? Xavier
1:50Hutchinson, they like him more than you.
1:51He can block in the run game. He can be
1:53the insert player. He can play in the
1:54slot. He can play as a Z receiver when
1:56they're trying to get into these
1:57blocking looks. Man, it just it is what
1:59it is. Like the fourth thing that you
2:00need to know
2:03we still really like Jaylen Nowell,
2:04okay? Jaylen Nowell, I realize he is
2:07squarely in the Matt Harmon fell for it
2:09again category. If you look at his comps
2:11on Reception Perception of the player
2:12comparison tool, yeah, it's it's like
2:14the Matt Harmon fell for it again Hall
2:16of Fame, okay? Josh Downs is in there.
2:18You got two Jaden Reed seasons in there.
2:19You got freaking Curtis Samuel season in
2:21there. So, yeah, could he be one of
2:22those guys that I always think is better
2:24than maybe you know, the public
2:26consensus believes, his own team
2:28believes? Possibly, but if he can get
2:30healthy, I do think there's a chance
2:32that Nowell can come in here and emerge
2:33as a Z receiver as well. I mean, yeah,
2:35he's a slot-based player, I understand
2:37that, but he's 5'11, 200 lbs. He's not
2:40one of these tiny guys that has to
2:42operate from the slot. So, hasn't been
2:44healthy all of camp, had a pinky injury,
2:47hamstring injury, but the coaches
2:48apparently still think he's had a good
2:50off-season when he's been available.
2:52I'm still definitely leaving the light
2:54on for a guy like Jaylen Nowell in year
2:55two emerging as the number two receiver
2:57here in year three.
