Yahoo Sports NFL on Ty Simpson

Rams drafted Simpson early partly due to uncertainty about their traded 2027 pick.

Ty Simpson was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2026 first round in part because the Rams didn't anticipate their 2027 first-round pick (sent to Cleveland for Myles Garrett) would be within range of a quarterback. The Rams expected their 2027 first would be in the late 20s at the highest and hoped it was pick No. 32, but the Rams currently sit at 3-4, which means the Browns are projected for the 14th overall pick.
