Gardner Minshew, who came in and lit the world on fire, led the comeback... Minshew came into the game with a minute 35 left in the third quarter, ended up finishing with seven more completions, three more touchdowns, and a 137.3 passer rating... I don't think that Minchew is going to be a meaningful downgrade whatsoever... Minchew has also hyper targeted tight ends at least when he's had good ones. In 2024 with the Raiders, he was up at nearly a 34% tight end target share.
STACKED’s take
137.3 rating in relief; not meaningful downgrade for receivers; 34% TE target rate with Raiders
Entered Week 8 game with 1:35 remaining in the third quarter and led a Cardinals comeback with a 137.3 passer rating, seven completions, and three touchdowns compared to Brissett's 41.8 rating. Ryan Heath argues Minshew is not a meaningful downgrade from Jacoby Brissett for Cardinals receivers despite Brissett's QB6 XFP per game ranking versus QB19 fantasy points per game; Minshew's superior catchable throw rate and efficiency should offset any target share differential. Heath notes Minshew hyper-targeted tight ends in 2024 with Raiders at nearly 34% target share with rookie Brock Bowers, suggesting McBride will continue to be fine in the ultra-short term. However, Minshew's tight end target rate is 25%, compared to Brissett's league-leading 33%, suggesting a meaningful downgrade for McBride long-term.
