rookie Mike Washington Jr. has taken over as the bell cow in Silver and Black, while Ashton Jeanty has become Klint Kubiak's preferred third-down, pass-catching back
STACKED’s take
Jeanty demoted to third-down back despite leading league in receiving production among RBs.
The No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 draft has been demoted to a third-down, pass-catching role after Mike Washington Jr. took over as the lead back. In Week 8 against the Jets, Jeanty finished with just 2 carries for 9 yards, a stark contrast to his season-long receiving production where he leads all running backs with 37 catches, 376 yards (82 more than any other RB), and 3 receiving TDs. Jeanty ranks fifth among running backs with 50+ touches in yards per reception (10.16) and ninth in EPA per target (0.16) on 48 targets. The irony is that he's been one of the league's best receiving backs, yet the Raiders didn't draft him sixth overall to play a complementary role.
