STACKED’s take
Toney trade to Chiefs was worth it; two huge plays in Super Bowl LVII win.
JJ Zachariason ranks Kadarius Toney's 2022 trade from the Giants to the Chiefs as one of the nine best in-season trades since 2020, despite acknowledging Toney's Chiefs career didn't end great and noting drops, penalties, and controversies. Zachariason justifies the positive ranking by highlighting Toney's Super Bowl impact: he made two enormous plays in a Super Bowl win over the Eagles when Kansas City trailed 27-21 in the fourth quarter; Toney scored a 5-yard touchdown and then had a 65-yard punt return to set up another short touchdown, with the Chiefs winning 38-35 on a field goal as time expired. Zachariason argues that without sending third- and sixth-round picks to the Giants, the Chiefs might not have won Super Bowl LVII.
