Ron Stewart on Jonathon Brooks
From the video

it's definitely a tricky situation just because there is this kind of secondary factor of the mental side of it... recovering and getting that confidence in your knee is really hard to measure... I would say as you enter week one into like week five, six, seven, something like that, like I would be shocked if Jonathan Brooks just steals the job right away. But I do think it's possible like if he shows them that he's back and he gains the trust of the coaching staff and things are going smoothly that he could overtake Chuba when it matters most.
STACKED’s take
Second ACL injury; mental toughness concern; Hubbard favored early season, Brooks upside later.
Brooks faces a complex return from his second ACL injury with mental toughness as a secondary concern beyond physical recovery. The source emphasizes that regaining confidence in the knee is difficult to measure in PT clinics and only proven on the field. While the source is not medically concerned about his short-term ability to return to 100% given a full season of conservative recovery, the Panthers' willingness to load him with 20 touches remains uncertain given his limited NFL experience and years away from play. The source expects Chuba Hubbard to be heavily involved through weeks 1–5 or 6–7, but believes Brooks could overtake Hubbard later in the season if he demonstrates full recovery and gains coaching staff trust. In dynasty formats, repeat ACL injuries raise long-term career durability concerns; the source would be surprised if Brooks plays into his 30s given accelerated arthritis rates in repeat ACL cases.
