Herbert's MVP-level play with one healthy tackle suggests elite upside with both tackles back.

Herbert was playing at MVP level whenever just one of his normal starting offensive tackles was in the lineup; in four games with Joe Alt playing more than 50% of snaps, Herbert went 90 of 133 for 1,087 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions with a 108.8 passer rating, which over a full season would have been third behind MVP finalists Matthew Stafford and Drake Maye. With both Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt returning healthy this season, Herbert should at least replicate that small sample level and benefit from offensive coordinator change to Mike McDaniel; if the Chargers avoid injury, Herbert could easily be an MVP candidate.
