McCarthy had an inconsistent day in Wednesday's padded practice and does not appear to be on the same level as Kyler Murray in generating explosive plays or processing speed, despite his experience advantage in Kevin O'Connell's offense. After six full-speed practices, McCarthy has not had a day where he clearly out-dueled Murray, which is why the veteran is starting to separate in the competition.
