Again, it wasn't a bad day for McCarthy. There was just more inconsistency from a young player who still seems to be in the development phase of his career after missing so much time due to injury in his first two seasons.

McCarthy shows flashes but inconsistent execution; still developing after injuries

McCarthy had some solid throws in Wednesday's practice, including a deep ball to Tai Felton in 1-on-1 drills and strikes to Myles Price and Jeshaun Jones in 7-on-7, but also showed inconsistency with an overthrow to Justin Jefferson, an underthrow to Bryson Nesbit, and a strip-sack. In the red zone, he had good throws to Jauan Jennings and Gavin Bartholomew but held the ball too long on other reps.
