Pierce has not practiced since signing his four-year, $114 million extension in the offseason after undergoing left ankle surgery in March to address a lingering 2024 injury. He was placed on the PUP list before training camp; general manager Chris Ballard said on July 28 he was 'a week or two' away from returning to practice, but as of Aug. 9 he remained sidelined. Head coach Shane Steichen said on Aug. 6 he had no updated timeline on Pierce's practice return, though his rehab was 'going great.'
