It seems doubtful at best that Kevin O'Connell will choose McCarthy as his starting quarterback next year without significant improvement in regular season games, and he may not have the opportunity to play in any this season. McCarthy will be shown in preseason games, which may attract trade interest as the rest of the league evaluates their quarterback rooms.
