Kyler Murray doesn't have a great track record of elevating receivers. The only wideout to have a 1,000-yard season with Murray as his primary quarterback was DeAndre Hopkins' 1,407-yard season in 2020, and tight end Trey McBride also had 1,000 yards in 2024. But Murray will be a better asset than J.J. McCarthy, Carson Wentz and Max Brosmer were last season.

Murray will be an upgrade over the Vikings' 2024 quarterback situation but has a mixed track record of elevating receivers; only DeAndre Hopkins (1,407 yards in 2020) reached 1,000 yards as a primary receiver with Murray, though tight end Trey McBride also hit 1,000 yards in 2024. At 29 years old, annual predictions of his breakout have been wrong in the past. The optimism about Murray is rooted more in blind faith and trust in Kevin O'Connell's coaching than tangible NFL résumé evidence. There is a chance the Vikings get to double-digit wins with below-average quarterback play, but Murray might not be very good either.
