Kyle Williams fantasy football insight from Hayden Winks - PPR Rankings

Williams did not play much as a rookie after sliding to the 3rd round in the NFL Draft. I thought he was an early 2nd-rounder type, for what it's worth (everything). Even in the NFL Playoffs, Williams only played 28% snaps and that's before Romeo Doubs and A.J. Brown have shown up this offseason. When he was on the field, Williams at least flashed what he was drafted to do: run. His 21.8 MPH touchdown was the 3rd-fastest play by a WR with the ball in their hands. He also roasted Marlon Humphrey in 1-on-1 for a touchdown, and then was able to tap the breaks on some comeback routes on occasion. Those were pretty much the two routes he was tasked with as a downfield X receiver who faced a ton of press. His release package is actually pretty solid, but there's more to receiver than releases and speed. His lack of physicality was the real deterrent to more production. There were a handful of targets that should've been caught if he was stronger. That weakness makes him a poor slot receiver, and that's the job most up for grabs with this depth chart. Williams averaged 0.9 yards per route (bad) despite having a 75-yard touchdown, and only 12.5% targets per route is equally tough. Most receivers at that level as rookies don't pan out, so we'll need to hear some buzz before throwing darts in the last round of drafts.
