Gabriel played the final three drives for the Browns against Chicago in preseason Week 1 and did not perform well, completing 5 of 8 passes for just 22 yards while throwing an interception and taking two sacks for a loss of 16 yards. With the Watson vs. Sanders QB battle absorbing most repetitions, Gabriel needs to maximize any playing time to stake a claim to the third-string role, but his poor performance makes that difficult.
