Field Gulls on Jalen Milroe
From the article
Jalen Milroe finishes with single digit net passing yards. The second-year QB finished 5/8 for 36 yards, another 36 on the ground, and 27 sack yards lost. A 9-net yard passing performance isn't something I will champion. Milroe didn't play poorly, in my opinion, but he rarely shined.
STACKED’s take
Milroe's 9 net passing yards, indecision on longer plays concern.
Milroe finished with single-digit net passing yards in the preseason opener. The second-year QB was 5/8 for 36 yards, another 36 on the ground, and 27 sack yards lost, for a 9-net yard passing performance. Drake Thomas notes that Milroe didn't play poorly, but he rarely shined. In quick, 'get the ball out' situations, he was on time and accurate, and he had an improvised play to Jake Bobo on fourth down. However, on longer developing plays, nothing was in rhythm, and for every impressive scramble there was a sack. Some pressures and sacks looked like Milroe not being decisive about whether to throw or look to run. If you were hoping for tape of Milroe showcasing himself as a franchise player or even just QB2 over Lock, this wasn't a good start.
