In his NFL debut, Simpson completed 21 of 25 attempts for 190 yards with two touchdown passes and no major errors in a preseason win over Kansas City. He demonstrated improved comfort and command as the game progressed, particularly after the first series; offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhaase utilized play-action bootlegs and rollouts that enabled Simpson to find receivers. Coach Sean McVay said, "I thought Ty had great command all day. It was a great step in the right direction for him."
