Charles Johnson was a cornerstone of the Carolina Panthers defensive line in the 2010s, drafted in the middle of the third round as a steal. After waiting his turn behind Julius Peppers and Mike Rucker, he earned the starting role and notched 11.5 sacks in his first season as a starter, followed by 9, 12.5, 11, and 8.5 sacks in the next four seasons. A pure bull rusher relying on strength to disrupt the pocket, he was an ideal every-down lineman with strong run defense. He totaled 67.5 sacks during his Panthers career, second most in franchise history, and was extraordinarily consistent as both a pass rusher and run stopper, rarely missing games.
