Drake Maye's contract extension is expected to be the next priority after Christian Gonzalez's deal is resolved. Karon Prunty notes that the Patriots need to get Gonzalez's deal done in 2026 so they can then focus on getting Maye's deal done in 2027. Prunty also wonders if Maye and other starters will see action in the final preseason game against Cleveland on Thursday night, given the short week and almost two full weeks off before the regular season opener in Seattle.
